Not a hate thread or anything, but does Paul Pierce have that much impact on the team?

RocketsRule

He won Finals MVP for a reason.

So yes, he does mean quite a bit to the team. He's there primary scoring option, and whenever you lose your go-to-guy it takes time to adjust.

they beat the Magic the other day, right?

I agree with their announcer that the Hawks are their only real concern

pierce is pretty important for them. they don't have enough offense with him out especially against strong offensive teams. plus he provides them with flops every game.

And the Magic beat them in Boston with everyone healthy (Orlando was without Jameer), earlier this season. The Magic won't shoot 33% from the floor and 5-26 from the arc often.

Pierce is a big part of this team, his production is the only one of the "Big 3" that can't be replaced with a backup (Davis for KG & House for Rayray)... especially with their supposed backup Marquis Daniels out.

it shows you what happens when the warriors actually have a center on the active roster, they go and beat the suns and celtics

The warriors are clearly the superior team to the Celtics in every aspect of basketball, especially defense. You would only expect pure greatness, being coached by the sober Don Nelson. Not only does he lead the warriors to glory each and every game, but with 3 seconds left he decides to let Vlad Rad pretend he's Brett Favre throwing a post pattern to Monta Ellis ( 1 on 1 coverage) in the back court on an in bound play being only up by 2.

Yeah they lost. So what? I love it when people make stupid threads like this about things that don't mean anything. Every team loses games that they probably shouldn't lose throughout the season. It happens. And as a Celtics fan, I won't even use the excuse that Pierce is hurt, because injuries are a part of the game. The Celtics should have beaten both of these teams, and they didn't. Who cares? Neither the Clippers nor the Warriors will sniff the playoffs this season, while the Celtics will probably end up as the #1 seed in the East. So, if late December victories are what makes you happy, then there you go. Celebrate.

Not a hate thread or anything, but does Paul Pierce have that much impact on the team?

It should be noted that they beat the Magic without Pierce. They also lost to the Clips on a buzzer beater and the Warriors on a back to back (out west) which is tough for any east coast team.

That being said, Yes Pierce does have that much of an impact on the team. He is easily the C's best offensive player and playmaker.

Lol 30 points and 15 assists against Monta....

You should have left out the against Monta part and you have a strong case, but the fact is that Monta lit him up and Rondo is supposed to be a good defender, Monta plays steve nash D so Rondo's numbers are nice, but seriously...Not to mention if Rondo could shoot ft then they might have been in OT or won if Baron or Clips take a different shot due to the 2 pt lead that Rondo could have provided.

All that being said, I take Rondo for now, but seriously how can he be that bad of a shooter

It just shows you how bad a coach Doc Rivers is. He can't come up with the right decisions in close games. The talent we've had over the years covers up the fact that he's not a good coach.

Funny, I haven't seen Rose put up 30 points and 15 assists yet. Matter of fact, I doubt he ever will. I also haven't seen the Celtics give up a 35 point lead yet this year, and I doubt they ever will.

He's the leader of their team and is their offensive target in the last 3 minutes of the game. So instead of Rondo taking 2 FTs' Pierce would take em. He is prolly just as important to their team as Garnett is.

lol i remember when we lost to the kings with no kmart and they made a thread about it, and now they beat the nuggets with no kmart or tyreke and are close to .500....no more threads. Maybe this is the turn around the Warriors and Clippers needed, maybe now they become, dare I say it....respectable

Ofcourse he does. He was the final MVP for a very good reason. No way they can win a championship without Him.

Also, Give Rose the same squad of all stars and he wouldlook like the best point guard ever born. Put Rondo in Rose's bulls and they suck. I love Rondo tho. Don't get me wrong. Just saying

ManRam
12-29-2009, 12:56 PM
He's important, but not this important. I think they caught two teams playing their best single games of the year. Rondo has done an amazing job carrying the offensive load, they've just come up short. Their depth, or lack there of, is what's killing them.

I'm as big of a Pierce fan as a non-Celtic fan can be, but I don't think he is this important. They did beat the Magic pretty convincingly without him. In a big game, hyped up and ready to go, they'll blow these two teams out of the water, even without PP.

We are also without Daniels and also rondo and KG are banged up but they are playing....Rondo has been much slower last 2 games and its only really showing on defence since his shot has been falling the last two games...anyway don't be worried..on top of tat we just got big baby back and ray allen has tied legs since we play him too much... no fear, in Doc we trust

Not trying to start up anything but weren't all Celtic fans complaining about coaching and managment before they got Garnett and Allen.

Big Baby rolled his ankle against the Warriors, so that's something to be worried a little about I guess.
