View Full Version : LeBron to the Clippers?

I believe that if Blake Griffin has no more setbacks to his timetable and returns without ill effect from his injury, he could have an impact that goes beyond just making the Clippers competitive in the West. He might put them in the hunt for LeBron James next summer. I still believe James, the reigning NBA MVP, will re-up with the Cavaliers after he becomes a free agent in July. But if he opts to take his game elsewhere, he will be weighing the championship potential of his new team and the intangibles of his new hometown. Why not L.A.? It has all the intangibles an NBA player could want.

pretty sure the Heat arent his second choice given that Wade has already cornered that market...i'd say Cavs, Knicks and Nets are top 3

If he does go, I'll stop being a fan.
I'd rather have a crippled Tmac than a team whose fan base are built of bandwagons.
It's a possibility though since they have young talent

No way Lebron wants to go to the Clippers and play in the Lakers shadow. Lebron or no Lebron, LA bleeds purple and gold.

People fail to realize, they're the Clippers.

Clippers = worst luck ... EVER. Replay the last 10 or more years, look at draft histories, they don't lie.

Secondly, the 'playing in Kobe's shadow' idea is straight on target - LeBron's got a big ego. Teams are willing to deal with that but LBJ is not going to like playing in Lakerville.

As of right now I say its a 50-50 chance LeBron re-ups with the Cavs, if not he will explore his options in the NY/NJ(Brooklyn) area. I'm not a firm believer in the LBJ plan for the Knicks either - 2010 should be a time to get at least one max player. As of now LeBron lies in our dreams.

Wade cornered the market? The heat can sign Wade and Lebron to max contracts and still have nearly 15 mil left to spend. The heat are on that list no doubt.

Clips don't have enough for a max. They still have 2 draft picks to pay and if they don't make the playoffs its will be over $3 million I believe, more if they do worse.

No they can't
With Lebron they would go up to $39 millon or so, closer to $40. They will also have to pay draft picks, not too much cause they should be 5th seed in the east. So they would have to fill every spot other then Wade and Beasley. It might be better to get another good player but then everyone else on your team would be vet minimum players.
To be honest I don't see Beasley as a real big PF, more like a PF/SF tweener.
I am not dismissing Lebron going there, but they would have no one but them selves if they signed another big name and their front court would be devoured by any team with a top big. might be interesting to see if they could win despite that fact.

Success will get bandwagon fans no matter what.
I could care less if more non fans become fans. For the sake of you being a fan, u should want it. U shouldn't not want him there just because it could affect who starts liking the team.
It's not fair to you and whomever has been suffering all these years.

Playing in the Lakers shadow isnt a problem when your still in a major market, still on a contender, and on a team that can grow with you. He doesnt need LA to bleed red and blue to meet all his requirements. Imagine if he turns around the Clippers, there is no greater boost to ones legacy. Well except for turning around the Knicks but they have nothing in terms of roster/talent flexibility, the Nets are in the same boat as the Clippers only they wouldnt mesh well with Bron though they do have Brook and the potential that comes with him being a dominant bigman.

Read the many articles on Lebron coming to the Clippers by the many analysts out there. You'd learn that we do have enough. Those articles are everywhere. I don't know how you would miss it plus this has been posted for a b**** load of times on the year on PSD. So please get your facts straight before you post.

Anyway, Lebron will most likely re-sign with the Cavs because he belongs there. He's home and the front office would be stupid to let him go.

1. Cleveland (80% chance)
2. New Jersey (10% chance)
3. New York (5% chance)
4. Everyone else (5% chance)

I don't see him leaving Cleveland. That city and franchise has been too good to him and Gilbert is firmly committed to the franchise and city with the new casino deal that has passed.

Why? That lineup right there is a dynasty waiting to happen. Personally, I think he would be a complete moron to stay in Cleveland. It would be Gretzky in LA 2.0.

If LeBron truly wants to win titles, and retire as the greatest player of all-time, I see no place better for him to do that, then with the Clippers.

I'm sure they can go over the cap.
Why wouldn't they? They'd be signing a top two player which will eventually pay off the debts if they go over the cap.

Honestly there are ONLY 3 possible destinations for Lebron, so screw all of you with this Piston, Bull, Clipper garbage.

He is either staying in Cleveland, going to New York Knicks, or going to the New Jersey Nets. NOTHING MORE!

If he goes to the Clippers, I fear for his career!

ThuglifeJ
12-24-2009, 11:35 PM
you fear for his career with blake griffin and E gordon? And underrated Kaman?

the KNICKS SUCK. And the Nets are the worst team in the league obviously. How is going there so much better than the Clippers. Just saying

Nets have young stud Courtney Lee. All star Devin Harris. Argubably the best offensive center in the East: Brook Lopez and is def a future allstar. They have Yi (the shooting type PF). Team is built for Lebron.

Knicks are BETTER than the Bulls! Enough said.

.....And you dont even get it. Its not about talent. Its just the Clippers have the worst luck and I seriously think if he goes to the Clippers something will happen where he isnt the same 'King James' anymore.

ThuglifeJ
12-24-2009, 11:51 PM
umm then please explain to me the Nets record. with all this so called talent.

Look I watch the Nets. Devin Harris being called an all star is funny, plus he's a shoot first PG, which I dont see helping Lebron (see mo williams). Lopez is good. And dont ever mention Courtney Lee. Courtney Lee sucks. He looked good last year because he was a 5th option on a team with Dwight Howard where all he does is shoot wide open 3s when he gets the chance. Yi is the biggest upset, dont try telling me he's good.

i'll give you Lopez and maybe CDR, T Will. But dont try telling me Lee is good. Theres a reason why the Nets are horrible this year.

Lebron will stay is Cleveland. He will not go to LA and be in Kobe's shadow. Better shot he will end up with the Knicks or Nets. Lebron and Griffin isn't enough to beat the Lakers anyway. He knows that. The "other team in LA." Who would want to play for them? I hate the Lakers but even I would rather play for them or go elsewhere. Only way Lebron goes to LA is if Kobe retires, then he would be the next great Laker. Clippers are poop, and will never measure up. Lebron will either put Cavalier basketball in the elite, or he will go to a team with a great history like the Knicks, and try and put them back on the map. I think he will stay will the Cavs and try and win a ring for the city of Cleveland.

I have a possible trade that might work in this situation:

Clippers - Cavaliers

Clippers Get:
SF Lebron james
PF Leon Powe
SG Delonte West

Cavaliers Get:
2010-2011 1st Round Pick
PG Baron Davis
PF Marcus Camby
SF Steve Novak
