The Lakers in 2008 (assuming you mean 07-08) didn't even win a title. Not to mention, every championship Laker team this decade was better than the 09 team. I don't care about regular season record (more parity back then). The Celtics team that won in 08 was better than the Laker team that won in 09 IMO.

Too tired to make my own list, but those are some flaws to start out with.

Read the title, because it says rank the teams that lost in the finals. The 08 Lakers lost the finals.

Why do you mention that when the entire list has teams that didn't win the title?

Read the thread question...

BTW--The Celtics 08 and Lakers 09 are damn close and could go either way.

The fact that the Sixers were the only team to beat LA in the '01 playoffs, despite being one of the worst teams, minus Iverson, to ever make the Finals, should be a testament to AI's greatness... 48pts in an overtime victory, the step-over Lue play was gold.

I don't have time to make my own list right now, but I will say that the '04 Lakers team should be no-where near the top. Without Karl Malone that team was so dysfunctional.

EDIT: Also, the '05 Pistons were essentially the same team that beat the '04 Lakers, so there's no way they should be ranked lower here...

Because AI was the only thing pushing that team, remove him and the only thing they'd be competing for, is the #1 Draft Pick for the 2001-02 season.

Im pretty sure the defense (already the best in the conference) does just fine without AI around to break it down. That defense alone prevents them from being legit contenders for the #1 pick, so no AI's team wasnt THAT bad, he had the best support in the conference, was outplayed by every teams star, was a defensive liability that had to be hidden every game and still found ways to get lit up, and he had the refs on his side and he still almost ****ed it up.

Their defense was behind Miami and NY in the East, but even if their defense kept them from the #1 draft pick, their lack of offense would keep them from playoff contention. He didn't have the best support in the conference, Ray Ray did (Glenn Robinson, Sam Cassell and Tim Thomas vs Aaron McKie, Dikembe Mutombo and Eric Snow [not that close]).

He outplayed Reggie, VC, Ray Ray and played great in the Finals against Kobe and Shaq so idk where you're going with this.

Not really. We were missing Memo, Mike James, and Scoreliss. So basically, we were the same team without the super-tough, deep bench. That's why we lost.
