12-17-2009, 06:00 PM
4 has swept it so far lol

12-17-2009, 06:29 PM
ah i broke it up.. 5. beat the rangers and tb. OTL to the habs.

12-17-2009, 06:31 PM
and tsunami.. I was stunned in the other thread. you gave SIM credit?!?!?! wow

I agree though... he played with some heart last night. With bergie out, we need someone with that kind of energy. I wish tambi would play like that.. probably keep him out of the press box.

12-17-2009, 07:00 PM
^yeah sim played a good game and finally they took gervais out of the lineup.

12-17-2009, 08:19 PM
lets get another win tonight!

12-17-2009, 09:38 PM
really outplaying the rangers here but not much to show for it.
20 mins left to pick up 2 goals.

12-18-2009, 02:04 AM
that suckeed, we outplayed them for most of the game and still got crushed

BTW Nate Thompson is the new Jon Sim after what happened....

12-18-2009, 07:55 PM
turned out not to be a big deal because the play continued... lead to a penalty (and faceoff back in the rangers zone)... and the islanders scored off that faceoff win.

they would have never scored that pp goal or been on the pp if thompson scored. so it's a wash.

12-18-2009, 08:02 PM
^As much as I believe that to be true, that missed net could have changed the entire game. We could have gotten much need momentum and made it a closer game earlier. I don't really hate Thompson, hes a good tough player and good penalty killer, but that was inexcusible.

12-18-2009, 08:06 PM
^thompson missed the empty net.. the play went back into the isles zone.. the rangers got a penalty. we scored right away like 30 seconds after nate missed the net. that's why i say it was a wash. if he scored macdonald wouldn't have so it wouldn't have changed the game at all.

12-19-2009, 01:50 AM
So if Thompson scoring could have affected the game by MacDonald not scoring later, than why couldn't it have affected the entire game?

12-19-2009, 02:50 AM
because macdonald scored for the islanders 30 seconds later on a pp that wouldn't have happened if thompson had scored. either way the islanders got a goal. i don't see why thompson or macdonald getting the goal matters. they still would have lost by the same margin. if macdonald had scored half a period later then you can say damn if thompson didn't miss that open net we'd only be down 1 or whatever.

12-19-2009, 06:54 PM
biron in tonight vs the habs

12-19-2009, 07:04 PM
I wouldve guessed, maybe he can get his 3rd win in 14 starts tonight.

12-19-2009, 07:14 PM
yeah i feel bad for him. he should have won some of those. but having under a .900 save% isn't going to get you that much sympathy either.

hey kmo how much snow did you get in nassau?

12-19-2009, 08:11 PM
Gervais in, healthy Meyer out.

12-19-2009, 09:44 PM

LIGHTNING (12-14-9) at ISLANDERS (13-16-7)

Monday, December 21, 7PM

Last 10: Tampa Bay 2-7-1; New York 3-7-0.

Season Series:
This is the second of four meetings between the teams this season. The Lightning earned a 4-0 win against Isles in Tampa Bay on Dec. 5. Mike Smith stopped all 30 shots he faced for the shutout.

Big Story: After showing signs that they could be in the postseason race for much of the season, both teams have faded in recent weeks. The Islanders followed up an impressive 2-1 win at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday with back-to-back losses on home ice against the Rangers and Canadiens, respectively. Tampa Bay had lost six straight before earning a victory in St. Louis on Friday. Their previous win was the aforementioned one against the Isles.

Team Scope:

Showing what they're capable when firing on all cylinders, the Lightning cruised to a 6-3 victory against the Blues and were paced by a pair of goals from second-year sensation Steven Stamkos.

"I think everybody struggles in their career but you have to draw on something. It was a good challenge for our team," Tampa Bay coach Rick Tocchet said. "Everybody has had some point in their career when they've had to be inspired by something, so whatever it is, use it."

Perhaps they ran into some goaltending by Henrik Lundqvist and Jaroslav Halak, on Thursday and Saturday, respectively, but the Isles' offense has been dreadful as of late. Calder Trophy candidate John Tavares has been stuck on 15 goals since Dec. 9, and his team hasn't scored more than three goals in a game since Dec. 3 at Atlanta.

"We certainly haven't gotten any bad performances in net from the opposition," Isles coach Scott Gordon said. "That's making it a little tougher. Maybe part of it is us, but a lot of it is their goalies. Halak has played outstanding against us all year long."

Who's Hot: Vincent Lecavalier had a pair of assists on Friday, giving him 700 points in the NHL. Jeff Halpern had two goals in the victory, as did Stamkos, who now has 20 tallies this season. Nobody on the Islanders is hot. They went 0-for-6 on the power play Saturday night, while Montreal scored three times via the man advantage.

Injury Report:
Tampa Bay forward Steve Downie (upper body) is day-to-day, while defenseman Matt Walker (lower body) is questionable after getting hurt during Friday's win. Isles goalie Rick DiPietro (knee) is out indefinitely but is returning to practice on Monday. Radek Martinek (torn ACL) is out for the season, while captain Doug Weight (upper body) hopes to return by the end of the month. Tim Jackman (hip) is day-to-day and Sean Bergenheim (rib) is expected to miss another week.

Stat Pack:
Tampa Bay had killed off 27 of 28 power plays against coming into the game against St. Louis before the Blues scored twice with the man advantage. However, the victory improved the Lightning's record to 4-0-1 in the second half of back-to-back games.

Puck Drop: "There's a lot of good goalies in this League. There's got to be a hunger to be on the puck around the net and I'm not sure we have that right now." -- Matt Moulson after Saturday's 3-0 loss

12-21-2009, 07:59 PM
^was bored and figured we could pretend to be a real forum

12-21-2009, 08:39 PM
hey alright hunter with a pp goal!

12-21-2009, 08:41 PM
btw i know they do it every game but, i find it kind of amusing that they play 'thunderstruck' by ac/dc for PPs when we're playing the lightning.

12-21-2009, 08:43 PM

and woohhooo! yeah hunter, 1st pp goal in 19 chances, finally....

12-21-2009, 09:07 PM
lately okposo looks like he went to the jon sim school of shooting accuracy

12-21-2009, 09:11 PM
off topic... that is a crazy red jacket behind the lightning goal... every once in a while i get a glimpse of it and i think it's the goal light

12-21-2009, 09:12 PM
**** u stamkos

12-21-2009, 09:29 PM
omg thompson scored!

12-21-2009, 09:30 PM
great forechecking by the islanders for the last 2 mins lead to that goal.

12-21-2009, 09:39 PM
