Battier. I really wanted Antonio McDyess this off-season. Think he would have been a great fit. Anyone who isn't a three point shot chucker, knows how to play physical defense and great team ball.

I'm a Detroit and Toronot fan and... well both teams need more than a couple of role players ;) lol

But if I had a contending team Battier would be great. He works hard on defence, takes his shots when he's supposed to and pass when he should, while working the boards. Perfect guy to have coming off the bench or starting alongside a star. I'm glad to see he's popping up on so many lists.

In the front court, I'd go with McDyesse, he works his @$$ off on the boards, on defence, he's got a decent mid-range jumper, he doesn't demand the ball and only takes shots when he's open.

Which role-player would be ideal for a team depends on what a team has, but those two guys will give you an honest effort every night.

mmm we should come to a consensus first about whats role player.

Imo the grades are.

LEGEND: DUncan, KObe, Shaq

SUPERSTAR: Lebron, Wade....( they usually end up being LEGENDS when they get into their 30s) Perenially allstars

STAR: Second and third options on teams that get touches and play some all stars, Like Manu, or Pau or Ray Allen etc etc etc.

STARTERS : Players that spend their entire career starting for teams o rbeign 6th men and contributing in their 30 mpg like Battier for example.

ROLE PLAYER: players that get 15 to 20 mpg in ther careers and have defined functons in the system of the team : Vujacic, eddie house, kapono etc etc

Bench players : pLyers that barely see more than 10 mpg.

SCRUBS: players that spetne a lot of time in INjury list.

HC I dont like the idea of a legend becoming one only because hes older and less able in his current form of dominating similar to the point when you considered him to be only a STAR.

If a guy is playing at a LEGENDARY level but then gos on to injure himself thus never becoming one, that doesnt change the fact that for that season he was there does it?

battier is a SUPERSTAR CONTAINER AND A KOBE CONTESTER....

no one can stop kobe but he contests him and makes him work harder for his shots...everytime the rockets play superstars battier shuts down the likes of LeBron and D. Wade.

I think thats because YOUR definition of role player is wack. Anyone on the team that is not the franchise player plays a role around the franchise player.

Are you serious? So by your definition anyone that isn't a franchise player is a role player? Ray Allen is a role player? Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker are role players? Vince Carter and Rashard Lewis are role players? Hedo Turkoglu is a role player? I could do this all day, but you get the point. To say anyone who isnt a franchise player is a role player is ridiculous. By your definition every player but about 20-25 in the NBA is a role player.
