Tim Thomas is suspected of assault in a brawl that occurred at a Denny's restaurant in Dallas early Wednesday morning.

Thomas reportedly became involved in a verbal confrontation with a patron, after which one of the individuals with Thomas allegedly hit the patron in the face. In the ensuing melee, Thomas was identified as having thrown a chair that struck another patron in the side. Thomas and his friends then left the Denny's before authorities arrived. It remains to be seen how this will shake out, but this doesn't bode well for Thomas' immediate future with the Mavs and we're expecting a suspension at the very least.

DALLAS — News 8 has confirmed that Dallas Mavericks forward Tim Thomas was present during a fight at a Denny's restaurant in Dallas early today.

According to two police reports, the 3 a.m. altercation began when a customer recognized the 12-year NBA veteran and said, "Hey, what's up?"

A person who was part of Thomas' entourage allegedly warned the customer not to speak to the player — and followed that up with a string of unprintable expletives.

In an account that was confirmed by the manager of the restaurant in the 4400 block of North Central Expressway, a fight then broke out.

During the disturbance, a chair was thrown and it struck a woman, causing her pain, according to the police report.

The manager said some furniture was damaged. He told News 8 that Thomas and his group had been in the restaurant on Monday night and had also been rowdy during that visit.

Someone who was with Thomas was said to have punched another customer.

Thomas, 32, was not arrested and has not yet been interviewed by detectives. Police are investigating the case as a possible Class A misdemeanor which carries penalties of up to one year in jail and a $4,000 fine.

News 8 asked Mavericks owner Mark Cuban for a comment on the Tim Thomas situation. "There is no Tim Thomas situation," Cuban replied in an e-mail message. "He was there, he was not involved."

Thomas in his first year with the Mavericks after stints with the 76ers, Bucks, Knicks, Suns, Bulls and Clippers.

According to his official biography, Thomas is married and has two daughters.

He hit a chick with a chair and punched another patron, I would call that involved in the fight.

The real news here is that Tim Thomas actually has an "entourage". Man, some people will latch on to anything.

You know, I was almost ready to give him a halfway benefit of the doubt assuming that the customer was like a Spurs fan who was giving him **** and saying he sucks or something, but if it was just a fan who said "What's up?", that's just really sad.

Why ask a question if your going to answer it.
