View Full Version : Will the NBA see a Quadruple Double again? If, who's got a shot?

The last time a player recorded a Quadruple Double in the NBA was 15 years ago, David Robinson recorded a 34 pts, 10 rebs, 10 asts and 10 blocks against the Detroit Pistons on Feb 17, 1994.

Other than the admiral, there have been only 3 other players to achieve this feat in a game, Nate Thurmond, Alvin Robertson and Hakeem Olajuwon (though an assist was stripped of afterwards).

The last person, I could remember being close to recording a quadruple double was Andre Kirlenko. He recorded a 14 pt, 11 rebs, 8 ast and 8 block game.

Do you think we'll ever see this again? Who's the most likely choice to achieve this?

I got to go with a big man. I think 10 block shots is less difficult than 10 steals. Dwight Howard is a guy who's had some monstrous games on the defensive end, if he becomes a better passer out of the paint, I really think he's got a good chance.

I would say it's a toss up between Dwight Howard and Chris Paul.

I think Chris Paul stands the best chance... He's gonna get his 20+ points and 10+ assists pretty much every game. He's one of the best rebounding PG's in the league and is also fantastic at getting in the passing lanes and picking off steals. If anyone can do it, I can see it being him.

LeBron could have a shot as well if he had a freak game where he got 10 steals, because he always flirts with a triple double... I think if anyone does it, it will take a couple of overtimes.

1) Dwight Howard- pts, rebs, assts, blks

2) Chris Paul- pts, rebs, assts, stls

3) Dwyane Wade- pts, rebs, assts, stls

Dwight Howard most likely to do it, then Chris Paul, then Dwyane Wade. Nobody else in the league will come close to doing it.

There are several players who could do it in the current NBA, but the leader is Lebron James.

He can do the points/rebounds/assists any given night, and because of his quickness and defense he is a threat for the steals. Because of his leaping ability and the fact that he is actually a pretty good shot blocker means he could have a great shot blocking game. If he can score like 30 points in a row against the Pistons in the playoffs I certainly think he can have a 10 block game.

Dwight can do it with blocks and CP3 with steals, but thats about it. LBJ is unique because he could do it with either.

LBJ could do it with blocks or steals, but I don't see it happening with him. Dwight could easily get the pts, bounds, and he gets close to 10 blocks from time to time (he just had 7 blocks yesterday i think). Assists would be the only problem, but he could pull it off if he keeps drawing double teams one night and kept getting it to the open man.

In the league right now, I'd have to say Paul has the most potential for a 4X10.

Howard can't pass the rock, so though he could get a 3X10 with blocks (like Mutumbo did) he wouldn't be able to get double digits un assists unless he completely reinvented his game. that said, he could get a quadrouple double if you counted turnovers!

LBJ brings the game in 3D better than anybody, but his steals and blocks have never been outstandingly high.

Paul though has the highest steals average since Alvin Robertson (who was a grossly underrated player), and is capable of posting a double-digit steals outing, and he gets triple doubles a few times a year, so it seems like it is possible for Paul.

lebron can possibly average a triple double in a season.. maybe like 24 points 10 rebounds and 10 assists.. but he wouldnt be playing to his potential then.. id think he'd be more effective if he got 30 points a game with 7 assists and 7 rebounds. and as for the quad.. he's got a VERY small chance.. but better than most in the nba.. i dont see him getting 10 steals in a game ever in his career. n i dont see him getting more than 8 blocks ever either.. but u never know with lebron

No one in the current future has a LEGITIMATE shot at getting the big "FO". If Dwight somehow becomes a real life superman, than it has a 2 % chance of happening. Paul is the only other option, and he to has a very little, little chance. I'd give him a 1% chance. Anyone else even discussed is completely stupid.

for those of yu who think dwight. ur wronge..

ur overating him because hes a constantly double double machine who has some big games on teh defensive side. but onyl excelts in 3 areas.

chirs paul excells in 4 areas.

and lebron stats are pretty much a tripple double. id say lebron or chris pual has the best chance..

dwade wont ever have a quadouble. u gyus are crazy

I think Jason Kidd still has a decent shot. He gets triple doubles like its his job and I think he could pull off 10 steals one game maybe. Also, Lebron with pts rebs asst and either stls or blks. Then Wade with pts rebs asst and either stls or blks. CP3 has a chance I guess. Also Shane Battier with Asst, steals, blks and rebs.

No way shane battie.r and defiantly not jason kidd. hes WAY too slow now. because hes very old. and not in his prime.

I give Dwight a 1 % chance and Paul a .5% chance. There's no way in hell anyone is going to get to that feat.

I would give Dwight a chance because we have seen him get a triple double with 10 blocks (IIRC). If he gets consistent touches inside in a game where his teammates are hot from outside, then I can see him passing out of the post and getting a 10+ assist game. Of course, in that same exact game, he would have to be a monster in terms of blocking shots.

The key stats are 10 blocks or 10 steals, while being able to regularly getting triple doubles.

I don't see any current player making the 4x2 anytime soon.

Howard is averaging 2.5 blocks and 1.5 assists, his chance of getting 10 blocks are better than getting 10 assists.

Paul is more likely, but 10 steals are the most difficult to come by.

I think Dwight has the best change.

Rondo also, he is the nba leader in steals and regularly puts up a double-double (points-assists).
Also his career highs are:
points:32
assists:17
rebounds: 15
steals: 7

Yeah the good ones have been said in Dwight, Paul and LeBron. I guess Wade could do it too... I can't come up with any others really, I'll go out of the box with Gerald Wallace.

Kirilenko in an increased role with another team... possibly like a Suns or Warriors team.

Yao Ming if he stayed healthy, i can see him getting a double double, plus the assists- good passer and blocks. I doubt D12 can get 10 dimes in a game, for CP3 - 10 steals is just hard to do.

Its Chris Paul. He actually came really close last season.

Jan 14 vs DAL. CP3: 33points-11assists-10rebounds-7 steals. (thats a man's triple double not no J-Kidd triple double (10-11-10).

Jan 26 vs PHI. CP3: 27 points-15 assists-10 rebounds-7 steals.
