He's right up there. His combination of size, length, and athleticism make him a horrific task for any defender. He still has a ways to go on the defensive end, but he should be considered a top scorer in this league.

Durant is a top 10 player, and he has improved on defense from what i've seen.

His scoring has been insane this year, and he's showing that he can indeed score with the best of them.

What's really scary is that this kid is 21 and putting up better numbers than Melo has in just about any year except for 06-07' and this year, which are just about equivalent. Yea... Durant's current year so far just about matches anything Melo' has put up in terms of stats.

Durant is currently putting up 28ppg, 7rpg, 3apg, 1.8spg, .9bpg

Melo's best years are his current year and in 06-07':

06-07: 28.9ppg, 6rpg, 3.8apg, 1.2spg, .4bpg

Current: 29.8ppg, 5.9rpg, 3.2apg, 1.3spg, .3bpg

Yes, he's been very impressive this season and has been very impactful thus far. He's one of the top scorers in the NBA and has his young team contending for a playoff spot. He's playing at a very high level right now, hopefully he keeps it up all year.

You can't be serious here?

You are comparing a guy who can't even make the allstar team to a guy who won DPOY, led his team to the finals and beat one of the top 3 players in the league last year without HCA?

Durant is absolutely top ten. Compare his stats to Lebron's, barring assists (where he's still getting a respectable 3+ a game) you will not be noticing much of a difference.

My top ten in no order:

Kobe
Lebron
Dirk
Nash
Durant
Melo
Cp3
Dwight Howard
Chris Bosh
Wade

The league is stacked, though. Brandon Roy, Iguodala, Danny Granger, Deron Williams, Monta Ellis, Pau Gasol, Duncan, and Kevin Martin when he returns will be a force. A case can be made for any of these guys pretty easily.

You can't be serious? Just because he missed two weeks does not mean he's off the list. Kid is a phenom, and he is playing, he came back late last week and didn't miss a beat. The only case for Paul is if he is top 3 or just top 10.

When exactly did KD make the all star team? When did he become eligible to be compared to top 10 players? I was simply poking fun at the fact that people think stats are essential in comparisons.

By the way beating a top 3 player in the playoffs isn't as remarkable as it seems. I remember the Hawks having a feat like that last year.

fantasy wise he's a top 5 player. He's arguably the most difficult player to defend because of combination of size and speed.

He's got great potential on the defensive end because of his lankiness. Dude's got a 7'5 wingspan. He's starting to build muscle more. And his b-ball IQ is getting better by the day.

Right now, He's no doubt a top 5 player in scoring. I think defense is what sets you as a top player in this league. Both KG and Tim Duncan are consider the best two PFs in the league despite not leading their teams in scoring. Their the defensive foundations of their team. Though it's very uncommon to see a wing player be the top defensive stopper on a good team, KD definitely has the mentality to work towards that goal.

Gerald Wallace can't be compared to Dwight Howard at ALL.

1. Dwight scores his FG's at more than 20% better FG%.
2. Gerald Wallace might be a good defender, but he's not anywhere as good or capable of making an impact as Dwight is.
3. Dwight is having a semi-off year statistically.

Also, number aren't everything, otherwise Zach Randolph would be one of the top players in the league.

I am merely stating that Durant is putting up numbers as good as Melo has, AND his defense has improved, moving him up to the top 10.

Well lets see... not that hard of a task to figure out.

You got the Superstars of the league, the established stars who have been doing it for years.

Kobe, Lebron, Dwyane Wade, Dirk Nowitzki, Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Carmelo Anthony, Tim Duncan. No particular order.

Then you got Steve Nash, who fell out of that group last year but is having a MVP caliber season this year and has jumped right back into it.

So thats 9 right there already.

Then its between Durant, Joe Johnson, Chris Bosh, Deron Williams.... anyone could claim the spot really. I dont think that he can be considered any higher than 10 though. A hot start doesn't mean he leap frogs established players like Tim Duncan or Steve Nash, especially considering how good Nash has been.

I think you could argue Kevin Durant for MVP. This guy is the future of the NBA and people should be talking about him as much as Lebron James..... His team is terrible and if you take him off of it, you have the Nets at 1-22 or whatever they are.

Eh, top 10 is up for debate. He still isn't a complete player. I find it funny that people were so slow to anoint Melo to the top 10 when he was putting up similar scoring numbers a few years ago, and Durant has the same holes in his game as Melo did then.

Kobe Bryant is the MVP so far so I don't agree.

I mean I guess.. But the truth of the matter is it's called Most Valuable Player. And Kobe is not the most valuable. He plays with the likes of Ron Artest, Lamar Odom, Andrew Bynum, and most importantly Pau Gasol. Fact is he SHOULD be doing what he does he has an all star cast. Imagine Kobe with the likes of bums like Sefolosha or James Harden or average players like Jeff Green and Russell Westbrook. You get my point. Put Durant on the Lakers and they have the same record so I'm not all that impressed with Kobe. Which is why Lebron and Durant qualify as the 2 MOST VALUABLE players, because without them those teams are definately picking top 3 in the draft. Without Kobe the Lakers are still a playoff team......

First of all, I dislike Kobe as much as the next guy but when he isnt on the list something is wrong.

Also, Kevin Durant knows how to win basketball games ALREADY! and Chris Bosh does not. Durant is a better leader and it shows. His team plays in the West and have a winning record.

Garnett is no longer a Top 10 player in this league.

Steve Nash is better than Chris Paul??? Chris Paul is faster, better defense, more assists!

Dwight Howard better than Dirk??? Bosh is not better than Dirk

And Joe Johnson is not better than Durant! ATL would make that trade in a heartbeat
