Sixers win a close one with the final score

76ers 99 Nuggets 97

Melo and AI tied for a game high 27 pts a piece from the 2 former teammates, but AI and his sixers make the necessary plays down the stretch to snap their 9 game losing streak

The Philadelphia 76ers are a few hours away from locking horns with an elite team. Why is everyone so sure that the Sixers are going to pull out a win? The most Allen Iverson will score is probably thirty points. The Sixers really don't have any scoring punch outside of Allen Iverson and Andre Iguodala. And with the defense the Denver Nuggets bring to the table night in and night out, it's going to be tough to beat them.

an "elite team" whose defense is still suspect. nuggets are not on the level of celtics, cavs, magic and lakers defensively. this nuggets team reminds me of the 07-08 lakers. Lakers avg 108.5 ppg and gave up 101.3 ppg. These nuggets are close to avg 110 ppg and giving up around 102-103 ppg. Yes pace of the game has a lot to do with it, but when the playoffs come around, the game slows down, and you might run into a buzzsaw defensive jauggernaut like the celtics (lakers in 08 finals)

I think with AI coming back Philly pulls off the upset. Thabo Sefolosha in Pick One against the Warriors.

I love Iverson but he's not going to transform the Sixers instantly. The Nuggets will win that one I think.

Yeah, I love AI as well, but it will take time for them to build chemistry together. It will be hard to beat a fully loaded Nuggets team.

Not only that, but AI said that he's not in the best of shape right now. I read it the other day. He stated that he isn't in game shape yet, so we will see what happens.

It would be a cool story for him to beat his former team, but odds are against the Sixers. Maybe he will have his revenge on Thursday against Detroit. :)

Naw the Nuggets aren't as good as the '08 Lakers.

The Jazz have our number this year...they have been the most underrated team so far this season. And Boozer is playing like he gives a damn.

Meanwhile, The Spurs continue their awful defense...what happened to our D?

I still think they can win the championship

An inside scorer would help tremendously, but it's not absolutely crippling if they don't get one...
