View Full Version : Yahoo: Sixers GM desperate to unload Elton Brand (& Dalembert)

Sixers GM Ed Stefanski is desperate to unload forward Elton Brand and the $66 million owed over the remaining four years of his crippling contract, sources say, but that will be incredibly difficult. Even with several teams, including Golden State and Charlotte, desperate for low-post scorers and rebounders, no one believes Brand, who makes $14.8 million this season, has enough left to merit taking on that contract.

Before Monta Ellis started on his scoring tear, Philly had hope that his issues with Golden State might inspire the Warriors to take a chance on Brand, but that isnít happening. Sacramento had some interest in center Samuel Dalembert, another contract Philly wants to shed, but couldnít work out a three-way deal with Boston.

Not gonna happen in these times and this economy. Especially with how terrible Brand has been. You are stuck with him Philly.

WTF? I really hope that bringing in AI changes the FO stance with Elton Brand, because I'm really looking forward to the trio of AI, Iggy, and Brand, and seeing what they can do together. As for Dalembert, he can be replaced with a 7 foot D-Leaguer.

I really doubt anyone's going to take that fat contract.

The only way I can see him getting traded is if Phili "showcases" him in a few games and he plays well enough where some teams become interested.

Teams that want that low post player like Miami or Chicago (Reunion?)

Like you said, I doubt it. That contract is just too fat.

Not gonna happen. Overpaid and underperforming does not make a player an attractive trade option

People are saying Houston is looking to trade Tmac.

Tmac's expiring for Brand would not be a bad trade... I just don't know if he'd fit in Houston.

What he said.

Cleveland could take on that contract.

West and Varejao for Brand and a SG could work.

As a Houston fan.. I don't want him.. Scola, and Landry are doing just fine, and that contract is not worth it

Maybe a team with cap space in 2010 who loses out on Bosh will take on Brand.

The Rockets need a CENTER. They have Scola and Landry.

Brand has been performing better recently, so I really hope a team bites on this one. I like Brand, and I remain that optimistic that he can return to form, but this obviously isn't a championship squad (not even a piece or two away from being a championship squad). We really need to dump as much salary as possible

Elton Brand isn't going any where, that contract is just horrible and I don't think any team wants a part of it.

Chicago should bring him back. He'd be perfect for them.

Who the hell wants Elton Brand!
66millions for 4 years for a player who averages 12 and 6.5 and who's on a serious decline.

and he's injury prone also
he would be the next Brian Grant

I feel for sixers fans, you are stuck with him at least 3 years, maybe in a final year you can trade him beacuse he would be an expiring contract!

but trading Sammy Dalembert should be easier even tough he has the lowest basketball IQ in the NBA!

GOOD LUCK!YOU NEED IT!

Ok Idea.

How about the NBA moves

PG Gilbert Arenas
SG Michael Redd
SF Tracy McGrady
PF Elton Brand
C Samuel Dalembert

To the NJ Nets.
That way, we save a few teams a lot of trouble.

Ugghhh I have to say Brand's contract is the ugliest in the NBA, even worse than Agent 0's. I'm sure Stafanski would love to give him up for just expirings, but I doubt anyone bites. They have to ride his contract for a few years.

Yeah that would be nice. No one is going to pick up Brand's contract now.

the only thing they can do quickly would be move Iggy, he still is a good player. They have Young right behind him ready to take his place.

Im thinking Rockets. Yeah not a whole lot of teams. Houston, New Jersey, New York, and any team with a lot of expirings this off-season.

Call up cleveland and see if you can dump one of both of them on the Cavs, they'll tale any kind of talent they can get their hands on. Maybe shaq for both? I think the contracts may actually work and Philly would only have to pay the 20 million for one season ;-)
