Dale Earnhardt Jr. was awarded his seventh consecutive NASCAR NMPA Chex Most Popular Driver award Thursday in Las Vegas, announced at the NASCAR NMPA Myers Brothers Awards event at The Venetian Las Vegas Hotel Casino.
Earnhardt Jr. joins Bill Elliott and Richard Petty as the only drivers to win the award at least seven times. His seven in a row falls short only to Elliott, who won 10 straight from 1991-2000. Earnhardt Jr. now sits behind Elliott (16) and Richard Petty (9) for most total awards. -JR Motorsports

Well at least he won something this year even though 90% of his votes are from Dale Sr.'s fans.

You remember that game you use to play as a kid "which one of these things doesnt belong?" I wonder how much thats played at Hendrick Motorsports

While not bringing in wins yet, he's bringing in a ton of money on sales.

I'd love to see JR leave Hendrick and go to Childress in 2011 to replace Harvick.

Who cares? Hendrick has plenty of it and Jimmie, Jeff and Mark all are in the top 10 in merchendise sales.

Yea, because he will do so much better there because Childress def. has better stuff. I'd like to see him leave so Hendrick can but someone else in that car.

There must have been something there otherwise Hendrick would have kept Busch.

If Jr. dosen't do better in 2010, he needs a change and at Childress he would be #1, and get the best equipment.

HAHAHA...

Harvick finished 3rd in points between all the Childress drivers, and thats only because he leap-frogged Casey Mears at Homestead.

Jimmie Johnson won the points, Mark Martin finished 2nd, Jeff Gordon finished 3rd, Dale Earnhardt Jr. finished 25th. Its a known fact they switched crew chiefs, and took all the head people and put them strictly on the 88 team mid season, and Jr. fell about 7 spots in the points after that happened. Do you really think Hendricks equipment is that uneven? Do you really think Hendrick just doesnt care how the 88 runs each week?

I think there is a big difference in equipment difference. There has been several different drivers in Jr's car. Why did they not have success. If Hendrick found a better engine, who will he give it too. Not all the top guys swiched, otherwise Chad Knauss would be Jr's crew chief. The 4th Hendrick will always live in the hole that is Johnson 1st, Gordan 2nd.

If Jr is as bad as you think, how did he ever get 18 wins.

Because that car has always had a mediocre driver. Wally Dallenbach, Ricky Craven, Ken Schrader, Jerry Neadeu, Joe Nemechek, Brian Vickers, Casey Mears, and yes Dale Earnhardt Jr. You can take a mediocre driver and put them in good equipment and they will find victory lane. Neadeu, Nemechek, Vickers, Mears and Earnhardt Jr have all won races in that car, so the better one of them have had some success.
None of those previous drivers ever got an equipment or crew chief excuse.
Jimmie was actually the 4th team at one point in time. So in your theory he should have gotten the junk when he first started off and how did he do?

Rick Hendrick has said himself that all of the engines that leave his shop (Including the ones that go in the 39 and 14) have a maximum of a 5 horsepower difference so that is a moot point.

Of course they arnt gonna break up a championship team just for 1 car, but they took all the head people back at the shops and told them to focus only on the 88 car and to let the car and crew chiefs of the 48, 24 and 5 focus on the setups of their cars.

I dont think hes bad, I just dont see how everyone thinks he is great, and why people keep making excuses for him. Hes mediocre at best. He was running very good early in his career, and he was a very good driver then, but iduno what has happened to him. The past 5 years he has been rather unimpressive, and nascar is a what have you done for me lately sport, and as for junior, its not much. Everytime we get into an arguement about Jr. you keep bringing up the fact he has 18 wins. Almost all of them happened more than 5 years go. What he has done in the past has no reflection on how good he is now.
