Some funny stuff on this list...

Tracy McGrady over Joe Johnson, Vince Carter, Danny Granger, Andre Iguodala.

Elton Brand over Andrew Bynum.

Baron Davis being on the list period.

I could literally list 50 things wrong with this list if I wanted to, but I will just say the list is horrible and be done with it.

Kobe won by a 2 to 1 margin over Lebron, don't forget to add that

LA has a total of 5 guys in the top 50 (sweet):
Kobe - 1
Pau -17
Artest - 29
Odom - 43
Drew - 50

Yes he is. LO is better than both of those 2. If all three were free agents, Lamar would draw the most interest and get the biggest contract. The Mavs would trade both of those guys for Odom straight up.

Hahahaha Lamar Odom isn't the **** that comes out of my ***. He's averaging 8 points in 31 minutes...pretty ****ing pathetic. He isn't ****. He's not even top 75. Drew Gooden is even better than that lame averging 9 and 7.3 to go along with 1.4 bpg in 24 minutes. Odom is way past his prime and would be the 5th or 6th option off the bench for Dallas. I can agree with most of you guys and say this list is pretty damn awful.

But people who post things like "fairandbalanced" need to slap themselves. Not once, but 50 times, for the 50 times he's probably said this.

I'm fine with people saying Lebron is better than Kobe. That's their opinion and Lebron is damn good, but to make stupid comments that have no merit to them like this, is a joke. There are many comparisons that can be easily made that show Lebron could be better than Kobe. I suggest you use one.

Begin slapping yourself please.

How on earth is Tyreke Evans better than Rose?

Go watch Rose play in the playoffs last year. Tyreke Evans is having a good season so far but what has he really done?

Rose is not playing as well as last year but he will be fine. People like to jump on these guys like they will be the next great player. Tyreke Evans has proven little compared to Rose who almost lead the Bulls to a series win against the Celtics.

The biggest homer in the history of online sports forum ^

Odom is one of the best defenders in the league who can defend 3's or 4's exceptionally well. His offensive game is incredibly efficient, and playing with Kobe, Gasol, and Bynum he doesn't need to score to be effective. I would take him over Terry or Josh Howard. And I hate the Lakers.

No no no no no no no no. You can hate the Lakers all you want, and I will join you. But there is no way you can say LeBron is better than Kobe. Kobe is easily the best player in the league.

You can argue it either way and have a quality case, I would not say either is "easily" the best player.

-----------------------------------------------------
I don't know how Granger is #31 behind TMac, Vince, Rose, Arenas

I have to take Kevin Martin over Turkoglu, Redd, or Mayo, even if Martin plays little defense

How about Antawn Jamison? Brook Lopez? Caron Butler?

I'm not sure Rose belongs anywhere in the top 50

through this time as rooks?(doing full season v. month/month and a half, isnt the best way to judge) they are actually pretty similar rookie campaigns

evans higher points and reb, while rose had higher eff and ast.(but not far off each other)

Trevor Ariza 23rd?? Ahead of Manu Ginobili, Vince Carter, Devin Harris, Rajon Rondo, Andrew Bynum...

Awful list.

T-Mac over them? WOW

And Elton over Drew is ridiculously stupid. And Baron is not what he once was in any way possible.

I think people on this forum are a little bit too absorbed in themselves and their own personal opinions. They think that by watching a few games here and there, looking at some box scores, that they know exactly how good each player is.

This panel wasn't made up of ESPN sports writers, it was made up of NBA HOF players, current players, coaches, and other people who basically make their living on the NBA game.

These are people who have either played at elite levels in the NBA, played against the elite players they're voting for, or coached against them.

Yet, here we are calling it a horrible list... a list that was put together probably since the start of the year, when people didn't know that Bynum would come out putting the numbers he is. People that didn't know Shaq wouldn't be putting up numbers he put up in Phoenix. People that probably had no idea Brandon Jennings would score 55 points (because it likely didn't happen yet).

But, I guess that's what being a sports fan is all about. The discussion about the players we like and dislike is something we all enjoy.

Just reminding you all, none of us have played in the NBA. None of us have coached against any of these players, let alone play against them (maybe a few pickup games). We're not even writers... we're fans that watch games when we can catch them.

We don't watch game tapes over and over to study player tendencies. We don't hire scouts to scout out players to let us know their strengths and weaknesses. We don't defend these players on a nightly basis. We are not defended by these players when we play our pickup or league games. Our living is not dependent on how well we know the game and these players.

I can appreciate hate on lists by writers, but when we disregard a list made by the panel put together, we're pretty ignorant.

I missed the part where Im suppose to care. OK some of those guys really matter, but Ive read alot dumb things from superstars over the years to know they arent always the smartest people around. The guys who have the most knowledge are those who cant perform but only think about the game and helping others perform. Be it a coach or a personal basketball trainer, the guys who know the most are the guys the pros go to in order to get better. I have more respect for David Thorpes opinion on the games best players than atleast half these guys. And I dont even know if hes ever played any sort of professional game.

First & foremost, I think these top anything is stupid. There’s no way you can grade every player the same way. It’s like comparing apples & oranges. Every player is different w/ different skills. Does it make a guard better than a center b/c they have a better handle? No, of course not, but that’s what makes these list horrible & purely opinion. Also, you can’t keep grading player’s high b/c of “ability” or what they “use to be” or are capable of doing. So many injury prone superstars have been omitted or fell down.

1. Kobe Bryant, SG, Lakers
2. LeBron James, SF, Cavaliers

I watch the same games as these guys......everyone has opinions and this is their opinion. Put Kobe on the Cavs roaster and it will be a complete failure...I hate having this argument but Lebron is better than Kobe.

1. Bryant tops SNís list of the 50 greatest players in the NBA today, as selected by a panel of 107 Hall of Famers, major award winners, executives, current players and coaches and other basketball experts.

Bryant received almost twice as many first-place votes as James, 62 to 34.

How on earth is Tyreke Evans better than Rose?

Go watch Rose play in the playoffs last year. Tyreke Evans is having a good season so far but what has he really done?

Rose is not playing as well as last year but he will be fine. People like to jump on these guys like they will be the next great player. Tyreke Evans has proven little compared to Rose who almost lead the Bulls to a series win against the Celtics.

http://blogs.bulls.com/chicago_bulls_blog/2009/12/tyreke-evans-following-derrick-roses-lead.html

Evans is one of four players in NBA rookie history to average 20-5-5. The other three guys are MJ, LeBron and Oscar.

Evans is one of four players this season, rookie or vet, putting up 20-5-5.

Rose has had some good games as of late- Evans is having the better year.
