View Full Version : Beasley's Tip-In - Offensive Inteference?

Apparently there's some contention in the Heat game thread about whether or not Beasley's dunk to win the Magic game should have been called offensive interference. I did not have a good look at it as I was watching on ESPN360 and the feed was choppy and low resolution. A lot of Heat fans seem to admit that it was interference, although others are saying it wasn't. I'm honestly not sure, and would like to know.

if anyone could up a video, it'd be highly appreciated.

I was watching on tv in SD and they never really showed a quality angle. It did look like it was interference, but I can't say for sure.

Maybe a better question would be: if Dwight Howard had pulled that down as a rebound in that exact place, would it have been called a goaltending?

In my short, low-res, choppy view, I was inclined to say yes, but it was really hard to tell.

NBA rules.....interference if ball is going in, that clearly was not going in.

the ball was below the rim when beasley grabbed it. he then had to move it up and over the rim to dunk it. This is clear when you watch the view from halfcourt area looking in

that's not the rule, nor would it be a good one. why would an offensive player interfere with a ball that is going in?

could you upload or find a video of the halfcourt view? and maybe some others, lol.

Didn't look close to interference to me. He had to pull the ball up to slam it home, he didn't catch and dunk so....its clean sorry Magic fans. Carter's shot wuz sexy btw.

if you watch the replay in slow mo you will see the ball was below the rim when he caught it. Clean bucket no question about it. good call by the refs.

I don't care if it was or not, the Heat deserved to win that game. (I'm not a Magic hater, just that Miami was out hustling Orlando)

Maybe they will interview Beasley and ask him

I'm still in shocked that Miami won the game. Dwyane Wade playedone the worst games I have ever watched him play and the Heat were still able to beat a strong contending team.

I dunno, it didn't seem like offensive interference. But then again, the ball could have easily grazed the rim.

None of this even happens if James Jones doesn't foul out or Jason Williams makes the free throws.

Heat got lucky, but they'll take it :)

because the game was on espn you can get a full replay on espn360.com and fast forward to the last play:

http://sports.espn.go.com/broadband/espn360/index?id=291125019

the half court view seems pretty conclusive that it was NOT basket interference

i was watching it on espn360 as stated earlier. that is assuredly NOT a conclusive way to look at it. i want if possible a slo-mo HD replay.

i am assuming it is the same as the tv telecast. if so...they show the half court view I was talking about where he clearly brings the ball from slightly below the rim up and dunks it

No, Wade being the sucky player he is air-balled it and Beasley got lucky he got it as a lob and dunked it. Anyways the Heat deserved to win, the Magic's horrible 4th quarter cost them the game. And don't blame J-Will missing the 2 FT, because Dwight could easy get the blame, and J-Will is the one that kept us in the game with 25pts. They were pressure FT, its one lose, we just have to play better basketball against ATL tomorrow on TNT, tune in *****es, good night.
