Stephen A. Smith is reporting that Allen Iverson has retired from the NBA. I will upload a link soon. Apparently he wanted to spend more time with his family and couldn't find an ideal situation in which to play in the NBA.

That is not possible so I dont believe you. and if he is "retiring" he will come back soon. please A.I. with his family? I mean im pretty sure Dr. Jack Ramsay had a dream that AI was going to become a face of the NBA and that was one reason he retired

I honestly believe Allen Iverson should not be playing alongside other guards who dominate the ball. The Utah Jazz have been doing a nice job developing solid wing players. In my opinion, the Utah Jazz are one big move away from seriously competing. However, Allen Iverson is not the way to go.

The New Orleans Hornets have completely fallen off the map. The team's offense is stagnant and the team's defense is horrendous. It might not be a bad move adding a scorer such as Allen Iverson.

He would have to take the minimum from them. Sheed & Daniels were acquired with Boston's MLE & LLE.

No ideal situations for A.I?? You mean theres no teams full of role players that want to stand around and watch Iverson play basketball?? Of course theres no suitors cuz this guy wants to start and still be the main man. YOUR A ROLE PLAYER A.I!!

I think he would fit good with them, but I'd rather see him go to a team that is good and their star player hasn't won a title yet. Like Dallas or going back to Denver or Cleveland or something like that.

He was always overrated and brought this on himself with his BS attitude and selfish game. Don't give me any bs about the team he took to the finals. That's the only type of team he could be on was a team with role players who would get out of the way on offense and rebound. Plus that was the low point for the eastern conference. He is going to have a tarnished legacy and is going out ala Latrell Sprewell.

Doesnt Matter AI is still one of the 50 best players in NBA history never overrated for what he has done for this league and is one of the reason sum of the players see now play basketball. Even though he had a bad attitude towards the end of his carrer he was better than Mike Conley and was better than Rip two season ago averaged 25 a game. This is sad time in basketball and dont u dare compare him to dat ******* Latrell Sprewell dat loser got mad cuz he said that millions of dollars wasnt enough to feed his children. AI never overrated one of the best little men to play the game, dont matter when u took your team to the finals he did it, its not his fault that the other NBA teams didnt play good.

Sad what happened to AI, in such a short time... Allen was great on and off the floor.

Never watched Allen play a single second on the floor where he didn't lay it all on the line. Sad to see him walk away from the game with fuel left in the tank. He's truly one of the greatest player's to ever pick up a basketball. The game will miss him, and has this last year. In a way, I saw his retirement coming, I just didn't wanna admit it.

its sad when nba fans forget that they are fans and act like analysts.

allan iverson was a great player. I loved watching his games growing up. he gave me great memories as an nba FAN.

but since all the analysts say he is selfish, washed up, and a problem just because he didnt do well for half a season in detroit. soo many fans forget what he brought night in and night out season after season.. all they remember was the joe dumars science experiment.

ai = hof'er one of the greatest. F U C K what you heard.

It's unfortunate if AI's career ends this way, but it doesn't diminish what he's accomplished in the NBA. He's a lock for the Hall of Fame and one of the greatest scorers to ever step foot in the league. He's also a top 5 shooting guard in terms of where he ranks all time.

List of the greatest players 6 feet and under: Isaiah Thomas, Allen Iverson, Nate Archibald, Tim Hardaway, Chris Paul, Michael Adams (a lot of you youngsters probably haven't heard of Mike Adams, but he was a very good pg for the Nuggets in the 80's and early 90's)

Havlicek was a small forward as was Rick Barry. :eyebrow:

Top 5 shooting guards of all time

1. Michael Jordan
2. Kobe Bryant
3. Jerry West
4. George Gervin
5. Allen Iverson

*For his career, Iverson has averaged 27ppg and 6apg, he's top 5 all time in scoring averages, top 20 all time in scoring and steals both playoff and regular season. He's a 10 time all star, former MVP winner, 4 time scoring champ, rookie of the year. He's better than most give him credit for.

Espn's sportswriters and analysts voted and most were in agreement that Iverson is a top 5 shooting guard. Here is the link: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/dailydime?page=dime-GreatestSGs

Allen Iverson is the second most overrated player only to Jordan.Iverson put up buckets cause no one on any of his teams ever could. When he started playing with scorers in Denver and Detroit he flopped. Trust me when you still have something left in the tank and not even the little white kids at the Santa Monica YMCA are picking you up, it's for a reason.

You can sit around and argue all day with your stupid opinion, Hondo and Barry were each SF's in the NBA. Whether they would be listed as SF's today means absolutely nothing considering neither played today. Caron Butler at 6'7 is not a short SF, that is the average size of SF's in the NBA currently.

If you really want to play the stats game Why dont you have Artis Gilmore a member of the 24k-16k club in your top five C's

Artis Gilmore is not in the Hall of Fame, hes not there because stats didn't tell the only story of his legacy. Iverson has the stats but also he is a legend for how unstoppable of an offensive force he was during his prime, he is a legend for playing 40+ MPG for entire seasons while still having enough left to carry his team full of defensive role players through the Playoffs, he is a legend for who he was as a player as a 6'0 180lb SG that played fearless and through physical pain.

I dont even know what the hell you're going on about but its common as a consensus that Iverson is among the 5 best SG's to ever play in the NBA. He is also among the 3 greatest wing scorers to have ever played in the NBA.

I'm SOOOOOO happy this guy is gone. He's a disease to the league. What a joke...."PRACTICE...PRACTICE...WHAT WE TALKING BOUT.....PRACTICE..." I would say he is probably one of the most overrated and over hyped players in NBA history. He put up some decent numbers but with a poor shooting %. He was a cancer to a team, a HORRIBLE teammate and a coaches nightmare. It's thanks to Iverson that I disdained basketball (except for the Rockets) for a while. He is one of the main reasons David Stern implemented a dress code in the NBA, which was a great idea and the only thing I think A.I. did to benefit the basketball world. I'm glad he never got a ring didn't deserve one and I'm glad he is leaving the game humiliated. HAPPIEST DAY OF MY LIFE WAS TODAY WHEN I FOUND OUT !!!! Yeah good riddance A.I. you won't be missed by me. (Sorry to rain on the A.I.'s people parade no offense to ya'll but I HATE this guy with every ounce of my mind and Body)
