Two future offensive juggernauts. For comparison purposes, let's assume Pablo will play at 1B in 2010, where he's better suited.

Kendry Morales

Pablo Sandoval

Both are switch hitting monsters. However i would take Pablo for two reasons. He struck out 80 times, while Morales struck out 117 times. Also, Morales had 1 HR batting right handed and his average is significantly lower than his Left handed approach.

fixed :)

and his avg left handed was .296 and right handed it was .309 so it wasn't a "significant" difference, Pablo's L/R avg split is actually more "significant" left .379 right .314.

i would probably take Sandoval over Morales because he is 3 years younger and basically put up the same numbers as Morales. but Morales plays good/great defence at 1st, idk how Pablos defence is though

My choice is Pablo. So far Pablo's put up slightly better offensive numbers in every category.

In the second half this year, he really showed improved plate discipline. His BB% improved from 2.7% in 08 to 8.3% in 09. If he can show discipline, his wOBA should stay right around .400

Both are free-swingers but Pablo makes more contact while Kendry has more raw power. I like Sandoval long-term not just because he's younger but because I think his power is more consistent given his Vlad-like contact skills.

Pablo's showed in average UZR in limited time there. He looks slightly above average there. Great hands, poor range. I'd give the nod to Kendry Morales but not by much.

Going with Pablo Sandoval here. You get the feeling that he's going to hit 30 home runs a season over the balance of his career.

Nice comparison! I'll take Pablo because A) he can play 3rd B) He's younger C) I'm a huge homer :D

If Sandoval sticks @ 3B than it's him without a doubt. If he goes to 1B it's pretty even. They're both very good young hitters.

Good comparison.

Pablo Sandoval, and it's not even close.

Pablo Sandoval, and it's not even close.

Really? I think it's very close. They're both similar in most facets of the game.

Pablo's three years younger but Kendry has a better build.

They're both pretty equal defensively at first.

Pablo hits for better contact and takes a few more walks while Kendry has a slight power advantage.

If you move Pabs from third to first last year, both their WAR is within a half a win.

Although, Kendry's ISO is higher. I wonder if park adjustment for Pablo batting left handed might even their power a little more. LHH power hitters go to die at AT&T. I could see Pabs hitting 30+ in Anaheim.

Can mods add a poll please?

Just throwing it put there, but Pablo is going through a serious conditioning this winter. He has already lost 10lbs.

Sandoval defensively can be put in 3 positions, C, 3B and 1B that alone makes him so valuable. The numbers are close but I would take Sandoval in a heart beat. Last year Sandoval was worth like 23 million vs Morales 18.8 as well.

Morales can play 1B, 3B, and OF, but yah, I'd probably take Sandoval as much as I like Morales.

Im going Kendry. I can see Pablo breaking down in 2 years, also without a fielding position..

Lol? Why would Sandoval break down in 2 years? He's 23 and isn't that bad of a defender at either corner, especially for a guy his size.

I don't see him breaking down at first base. He's a good defender there. Especially considering he's already lost 13 lbs this offseason.

I think he lost like 16 lbs now.

I'm saying Sandoval. He did just such an amazing last year when nobody in the lineup could hit at all. He just seems to be better in almost every aspect. Plus I'm a huge Giants fan so you'll have a hard time convincing me.

Pablo must be a pretty big guy, he's playing winter league right now and I see him as fat as last year
