I'm going to guess that considering the fact that every player on there is on a team with a winning percentage of .700 or higher, that team play has a huge role in their predictions. Hence no Bosh.

Correct.

The NBA MVP Award Tracker ranks candidates based on a model built using previous voting results. This list does not represent the opinion of this site. Rather, these are the players that the voters are likely to target.

Previous voting results almost nearly have players from one of the top NBA teams. Thus all of the players listed here are on teams with top records.

If so much emphasis is placed on team records than the list is still missing Paul Pierce.

No Bosh? The American bias strikes again... Does ESPN know who he is? He doesnt just make funny videos on youtube...

Pierce isn't having as spectacular as an individual year as any of those 10 guys, and his team is no better right now (or not significantly better). Boston is way too balanced of a team to have a top 5-10 MVP candidate. Pierce, KG, Allen, Rondo and even Perkins are all almost equally valuable...I'd argue Rondo is the most valuable right now. Shooting an insane FG%, playing other-worldly defense, and averaging 5-6 plays on every Celtics sportscenter highlight.

Stat isn't having a particularly strong season either yet he's on the list...

Maybe not a top 5 for the Celts but consideration should at least be given for either Pierce or Rondo to be on the top 10.

Josh Smith is my MVP thus far, unbelievable start to the season and he can actually play defense, unlike half the guys on that list.

I think the team's record has something to do with it to.

The rankings are based on how the voters have voted in the past, it's obvious team record is more weighed than individual statistics.

If it makes you feel better, ESPN has Dwight #10 for their MVP watch:

It does, his numbers may not be sky-high yet, but he's barely playing that many minutes.

He played 18mins last night...

Maybe he should stop hanging out with Greg Oden :D

Seriously though, it's so freaking early that it's pointless to talk MVP

Agreed, alot of people are looking too deep into the stats, right now the only stat that matter are the number of Ws your team has.

This list is just a measurement of previous MVP voting history. So dont say the list is bad.... Its the MVP voters that are bad. The website is just trying to give you an idea of who will win the MVP not who they think should win MVP.

it seems like a fair list. there is no one from boston or orlando because they have a balanced attack.

They should rename the award to "Best player on the best team".

The MVP award has been a joke ever since 2005.
