Malone didn't get them into anything

So Barkley

Barkley was a star when he first went to Houston. Malone went to LA at 39 big difference.

Better question would be Payton or Malone.

So Barkley

The Lakers went to the Finals with Malone after getting knocked out in the Western Semi-finals the year before

The Lakers team with Malone and all the other end-of-their-prime stars was a joke of a team. They may have had a good record but they didn't gel nicely.

You could say about the same their first year. Though Barkley had a bad attitude, slacked off, was rapidly declining, and the gave up quality players to get Barkley.

So the answer would be Malone.

^ I wouldn't call them ring chasers.

Maybe Artest.

Both Barkley and Malone did a good job picking the right team. They both played with some impressive players, Barkley with Clyde, Olajuwon and Pippen (no chemistry though) and Malone with Shaq, Kobe and Payton.

Barkley never reached the finals with Houston. Malone on the other hand was 3 games away from tasting glory.

I got to go with Malone

That would be a much more lopsided question as everyone would unanimously agree it was Malone.

But you make a good point, when Chuck hooked up with Dream, he was arguably the teams offensive MVP. They were unbeatable when he was healthy but you could say the same for the Mail Man. Karl was further along in his career and the #'s do say Chuck was superior offensive player, but Karl remade himself into a lockdown post defender with the Lakers and the #'s support that as well, he embraced the role of making players around him better, was a decent outlet option in the triangle ala KG, his undoing was that he played with such reckless passion that year, but its what the Lakers needed in order to win the title, he only got them to the Finals.... is that really such a disgraceful end?

But I do feel that maybe Chuck meant more to his team than to the Rockets, could the Lakers have made it back to the Finals with their core? I know for a fact the Rockets wouldnt have a shot at contending without this move.

PS Feel free to name other examples, I was just throwing those 2 out there.

There is no list, feel free to provide why you feel he deserves to be mentioned. And in fairness Zo was kind of like GP in how it took him 2 ring chasing moves to finally win one. First NJ then Miami vs First LA then Miami for GP.

They had Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal. They were in finals contention without Malone.

look at what malone had to work with. then look at the rockets roster. therin lies the BIG DIFFERENCE. i think chuck did the best with what he had, dream's legs werent as strong anymore after carrying the team so long, and glyde was more like stride, and then a bunch of nobody's so i'd have to go with barkley. malone had a prime kobe and shaq, and if it wasnt for the soap opera he should have gotten his ring.
