In this thread we post one player from our team we feel is either overlooked, underrated, or on the contrary said to be overrated.

You may be countering sentiments of: "He's a bust / one dimensional / soft/ already capped out"

You might answer these questions in the process... Why Bynum should start over Amare in the all-star game? Why Bargs is worthy of an all-star bid? Why Beasely can be an all-star? Why is my PG a top 5 in the league? Why isn't this player a bust?

You're encouraged to post stats, videoclips and your own overall analysis to inform those that are not able to catch every game of your team.

Youtube Tip: To save time and direct people to specific points in videos: follow this format:

Example if you wanted to link a youtube video and have it start at 40 seconds or 1:20, you would place this at the end of the video link:
#t=40s or #t=1m20s (You'll see me do this in my next post.)

Also ask the question: What does my player need to do to prove himself?

My player choice: Danilo Gallinari
PSD Claim: Bust and a one-dimensional three point shooter.
Practically a rookie (400 mins last season)
Current 30mpg starter.
16ppg on 46% FG / 47.2% 3PT / 4 rpg/ 1.6 apg / .7 spg / .7bpg
Leads the league in three pointers made and attempted.
61.3% EFG, 63.8% EFG on jump shooting alone. Blocked 0% on jumpshots.

His three point skills give him the rep. of being one dimensional. But, hovering below and over 50% 3 PT shooting (63.8% EFG) one must ask, why not keep shooting them?

Can he do it for an entire game? Yes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_gu2pYS0lH8#t=20sThe only players with higher 3P% are ones who have made less than 25 threes on the season (Gallos made 34)

But to address everyones criticisms...can he do anything else?
Handle

And something people have wanted out of him for a while..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lO_eGFnGU4c#t=7s

Potential & the future: Can he improve even more? Most definitely.
What's holding him back:
Selflessness while on a team of chuckers: last game scored 19pts on only 10 shots.
Al Harrington takes 2 shots less than Lebron per game with 18.
Chris Duhon's FG% is as good as his TO/PG at 22% and 2.2 Turnovers a game.A large amount of his teammates (Harrington, Nate, Hughes, Duhon) often freeze him out, resulting in less touches.

He averages 11 FGA/PG, with more touches he could easily average above 20ppg just by virtue of his efficiency. With decent distributing pg along with a post presence more intimidating than Darko/Jeffries/Lee, Gallo as an all-star is not a farfetched idea.

Questions for PSD: Has he solidified himself as a 6th pick? What is his ceiling? What more would you like to see from him as a player?

Mine would be Gilbert Arenas. Most people see him as a ball hogging, arrogant guy who will keep getting injured.

Unfortunately, that is the wrong idea that people will have.

People in D.C., or Baltimore where I live, can see him sometimes playing in local school gyms, playing paintball or just goofing off. On the court though in previous seasons under Eddie Jordan, he was told to shoot the ball. Shoot alot, as in 20+ a game. His shots right now are extremely high with some key players being out recently, so I expect his totals to go down this year.

But even if people don't agree with his style of play, when people say he is a bad person or something, they really have no clue.

Statwise, Antawn Jamison. Extremely underrated. The man averages 20/10, and just gets overlooked by almost everyone on here.

people always said Bynum was overpaid

I just want to say, he never has been.
this is the first year of his big contract, and so far he's playing like a star that his contract says he should be.

before this year, he had his rookie salary.

just a common misconception

No one on the Hornets:shrug: even though most users dont really know to much about the Hornet players, they are stuck in the past for some reason.

My player choice: Chris Douglas-Roberts
PSD Claim: Under the radar
Second year player
Current 32mpg starter.
14ppg on 47% FG / 43% 3PT / 4 rpg/ 1.1 apg / .9 spg / .4bpg (and 93% from the free throw line)

He hasn't done much in terms of great perfomances, but he has emerged as a solid option in the wake of all the Nets' current injuries.

His game is steadily improving fast with him working on his three pointer and defense in this past off season.

Two handed swat on Iggy
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dKjK6BP4VYU

He's not a fancy player, but he's get the job done. A lot of announcers say he plays like an old man which is probably why he hasn't drawn any attention even though he is much improved over last year. He's very versatile and can play 1-3.

Potential & the future: 17 points 5 rebound and 3 assists 1.5stls but very efficient

What's holding him back: Nothing. The work ethic is there, but the opportunities might not be once Harris and Lee return.

Questions for PSD: CDR was a second round pick, is he underrated?

Allen Iverson cannot have NOTHING left in the tank.
He can still drop 25 a game with 35mpg.
