I didn't see this coming.

He shot 33% in preseason, I thought he'd be the most productive of the rookie PGs, but he's shooting 49.6% and 56.6% from 3.

Makes me want to trade him in fantasy while his value is through the roof

-amn, he's playing good for a rookie that came out of a weak -ss draft class. He's already the 2010 rookie of the year because he don't have any candidates(other rookies) to challenger him.

Called it before he came to the league... AI 2.0

I dont think he is AI 2.0. He seems like more of a natural PG, even though he is will look to score. I havent gotten to see Jennings play a lot, but his shooting percentages so far are so high it doesnt look like he is just forcing up shots like AI would at times. I am guessin he is just taking what is given to him. Idk, I could be wrong, I dont get to see many Bucks games in Philly.

That is why we moved AI to SG and had E Snow here for so long. We needed somebody who would run the offense, not just try to score.

I knew he would be amazing! A lot of teams passed on him for stupid reasons. I thik he is better than Rose.

I agree! except for the Rose part, i have no opinion on that.. but it was just 2 years ago, this guy was ranked 2nd in the country as a highschool player.. he doesn't get much plaing time overseas, and his number's are down.. and people think he's not that good..

then he say's he's better than Rubio, who everyone loved from the olympics.. and got so much hype.. just 2 diss the wolves, and slide's to pick number 10.. and btw, he is way better than Rubio.. Rubio can't even shoot

This guy should have been a top 3 pick, and I think he's gonna get ROY

Some people say thay see Iverson in him.. which I agree, but the thing about Jennings is.. he's really a pure point, he can pass with the best of them, right now the buck's need him to score, and be a playmaker imo

Yea i'm a Bucks fan and the Bucks are goin to lock this kid up. Hes our only shot at a true superstar. We will be able to offer him more money then anybody so that gives us a shot. and if they maxed out for Micheal Redd like they did a few years ago I really think we will do the same for this kid. Only chance he leaves is to go play back home in Cali. He wont go to New ork anymore.

Yeah, him and Rose will have some epic battles over the next 10-15 years. Should be fun to watch. I've been saying for about two years now, similar to how people refer to that 80s era as the Golden age of basketball, we could be entering the golden age of point guards. There are great young PGs all over the league in CP3, Deron Williams, Derrick Rose, and Brandon Jennings. Then there are some guys that could very possibly reach that level like Russell Westbrook, Jonny Flynn. Then of course John Wall is coming soon, and who knows what Rubio will be but if he pans out, just wow. What a crop of Point Guards.

Jennings is in my fantasy draft team but I do realize he has a shoot first mentality as a pg. There is no doubt he is a talented player but he also has freedom to shoot on a weak offensive team. I think many nba players could have better offensive stats if they chose to be more selfish with the ball or were given the freedom to chuck the ball more in their team's offense. I see him as Iverson type of player, some people like that while others do not. Atm, it's very early in Jennings career so we'll have to give it some time to give fair judgement whether he deserves a 'fan club' or bandwagon.

flea
11-15-2009, 05:08 PM
I'm not a Bucks fan nor am I from any where near Wisconsin (thank God) but I can impartially say this: Jennings has been more impressive in his NBA career, despite it being just a few games, than Rose has been in his year+. Rose had a great freshman year of college and a pretty good rookie campaign but he's still not as polished as Jennings. Plus he hasn't come close to dropping 55, mostly because he's basically a one-dimensional player right now (drive n' dish).

They're both good players and only time will tell who is better, but Jennings has been damn impressive.

But that is the position he plays. If you inbound the ball to Dwight Howard, let him take it down the court and run the offense whether it consists of passing or him shooting a lot, and the coach enters him in as the lineup's PG, he is a point guard. You're making the argument that he shouldn't be a point guard, but he is what the team calls him.

Homer 3

Ok Douche Bag #1, 2, and 3...

You are going to call fans of Brandon Jennings, even Bucks fans homers after the start he has had in his first 7 games? I guarantee you that you'd feel the same way if you were watching a kid barely over the age of 20 lead your team to a great record (If they were supposed to be as "bad" as the Bucks were).

And no, I disagree with your first post. Brandon Jennings offense has single handedly sparked the Bucks as a team almost every night. Bogut is great and proving everyone wrong about him being a bust, but he isn't our MVP so far. Go watch a Bucks game before you make these comments.

Good for him and I am happy for the Bucks as well. It sucks how all these superstars are shying away from playing in Milwakee. It seems they'll never have a great team, because all these superstars are flocking away to the big markets. I hope he continues to get better and signs a long term deal with them. Lets look at the situation... Jennings did put up 55, impressive... however he did it against the worst defensive team in the league, at their worst (defensive wise). Jennings was also the only viable offensive option besides Bogut. Jennings was on fire, just like alot of players are on fire. Players like Lebron and Kobe could put up 55 points every night if they took 34 shots a game and no one felt like defending them.

Brandon Jennings shoots WAY better than Derrick Rose. And although Rose has the better drive to the basket, he has no shot to compliment it. Brandon Jennings is gonna be a damn a damn good player because they will have to respect his shooting ability and he is quick enough to beat a lot of players to the basket. Not to mention he is a fantastic playmaker. Im not gonna say he's better than Rose right now, but he will be.

To me, Brandon Jennings has that same swagger, cocky and arrogance that Kobe Bryant had when he came into the league. With the talent he has, and if he puts in the hard work and tries to prove the naysayers wrong, the sky is the limit for this kid. All he needs to do is put in the work, become completely fixated on the game of basketball, and improve the fundamentals of his game. You want to become as fundamentally sound as possible. And I think he can do it with the attitude he has now.

I love Brandon Jennings I wanted the Knicks to draft him when he was available, but as you can see when went with Hill who can't even crack the rotation on the muta***** Knicks.

I love Jennings he's got the 2nd best swagga in the league (Nate Robinson's got the most rediculous swagga in the NBA) and cocky attitude it helps him stand out from all these robots in the league. Dude is going to be a superstar in this league you can quote me on that.

But damn at this rate y'all are going to make me end up hating him like I hate Kobe. I never hated Kobe until I joined PSD and seen all his dick riders and all the comparisons to Jordan now I just can't stand him. I don't mind all the bragging about Jennings, but just tone it down a bit.

But PSD users you guys need to decide which bandwagon you guys are going to hop on. first it was

Jennings>Rose hell before you know it the next comparison will be

Rose>Rondo, then
Rondo>CP3, now its
Jennings>Rose hell before you know it the next comparison will be
Jennings>God or has that arguement already began?

Exactly

I'm not a Bucks fan nor am I from any where near Wisconsin (thank God) but I can impartially say this: Jennings has been more impressive in his NBA career, despite it being just a few games, than Rose has been in his year+. Rose had a great freshman year of college and a pretty good rookie campaign but he's still not as polished as Jennings. Plus he hasn't come close to dropping 55, mostly because he's basically a one-dimensional player right now (drive n' dish).

They're both good players and only time will tell who is better, but Jennings has been damn impressive.

This statement is severely flawed...especially because the only thing Jennings proved is that he can score the lights out...his allround game still needs work...whereas Rose is a much better distributer and rebounder.

Amazing how easy some of you get mesmerizes by big scoring numbers.

ur a fool if u really thnk rose is a MUCH BETTER distributor and u obviously havent seen jennings play. hes an aazming passer. just the fact that his team needs him to step up and score right now doesnt mean he isnt a distributor. if ur one of those guys that just looks at the numbers, hes already had two games with 9 assist, and his first game in the nba he had 17, 9 assists, 9 boards

is that enough of a all around game for ya?

im not saying brandon jennings is a much better distrubtor and im not saying derrick rose isnt an amazing distributor, but to say derrick rose is MUCH BETTER at distributing the ball is a false statement

I'll put one foot in the Brandon Jennings bandwagon and put the other in after the allstar game or after he scores 55 points again against a different team(Lakers, Pistons, Heat or Knicks).

hell no. *** all u brandon jennings bandwagoners. hes been my favorite player since oak hill and im not guna let u **** that said he was guna be a bust or he was guna have a tough time finding an nba team in three years or **** like that.

if you were one of the people who liked him from the begining, welcome.

if you were one of the people that were prolly smart and didnt comment til u said the actually product, i guess ur welcome.

but if you were one of the people that hated on him and called him the next telfair or some **** like that, get the **** outa here we dont want u to like brandon jennings.

Love it when newer posters with horrible grammar tell people to get the **** out.

At least Rose has already proven he can perform well when it really matters, ...like against Boston last postseason. He simply has shown me more over a longer term. I agree Jennings is on a tear right now...but seven games doesn't justify him being elite all of a sudden. He is still a rookie...and he still has to prove he can produce like this over the course of an 82-game season.

I'm not saying Jennings doesn't have the potential to be as good or better than Rose...but I'm not jumping to conclusions based on one great scoring outing like most of the people here seem to do.

Great start for the youngster though... wow.

I don't really think it says anything. Are you trying to say Kobe Bryant would struggle overseas?

He was a 19 year-old cocky American. He got no playing time. Do we have to go through this over and over?

That's ridiculous. Terrible counter-argument. Kobe? Are you seriously comparing Jennings to Kobe? I think playing time has very little to do with it. The kid scored 55 points in 3 quarters against a NBA team.

I'm saying that European teams are more defensive minded. Not to mention, fundamentally sound. I think if given the green light, NBA players would turn the league into street ball, and play selfishly. I think team from overseas have convinced us that they can hold their own against NBA talent. Great scorers from the NBA should be able to be great scorers overseas as well, yes.

Disclaimer: I have NOT seen him play a full game, so take this for what it's worth:

To say I'm impressed with the kid's production is a huge understatement. He didn't even get picked up in an experienced, 12 team, 16 round draft in our Fantasy.

Dude has been lights out and it is fun to watch.

Do I think he keeps up this pace of 25/4.5/5? Not a chance. He's on a big time heater, and the Bucks have been playing some fast paced teams (along with the Warriors, who are basically a breeding ground for career nights). Plus, it's not reasonable to think that he could keep up 50% FG shooting with nearly 57% from three with the amount that he shoots.
Hopefully ESPN picks up some Bucks games this week, I want to get a chance to see this kid play a full game!
