View Full Version : Will New Orleans make the playoffs?

The whole team besides Paul is either banged up or underachieving or both. They just fired their coach and have been falling in the West since they lost game 7 at home to San Antonio. Right now they are currently 3 - 6. IMO I think they will make the playoffs.

I gotta stick with my team, they are playing pretty good today. So yes IMO.

They have time to regroup and start winning.

If you are watching the Blazers/Hornets game, you know that the answer is an emphatic "no"

Its our first game with a new(kinda) coach. Against a good team, I didnt expect much.

Are you even watching the game?!?! Both teams are playing terrible basketball and Portland has a comfortable lead. How on earth can you say they are playing well?

They were at the time, this third quarter is the difference.

Thornton does look good though. He should be starting.

I don't think so. Emeka was an upgrade, but the team as a whole has not upgraded over the last few years. The fact of the matter is, CP has a weak supporting cast. He's having a career year. I mean, he's shooting over 60% which is unheard of for a PG. Yet still...his team is 3-6. I can't see it getting much better. I've also come to the conclusion that David West is a bum.

And Chris Paul is hurt.

EDIT: Paul getting carried off the floor. Stepped on the back of Przybilla's foot and rolled the ankle.

Watch out though Paul might explode in the 4th.

He was carried off the floor, so I doubt it. I don't think he will play again (in this game... obviously a high ankle sprain isn't career ending.)

yikes

carried off the floor?

He had his arm around two guys shoulders. Half way to the bench they stopped to try and let him put weight on it. He touched the foot to the ground and then picked it up and had them carry him the rest of the way. Nothing looked broken, but it probably is a high ankle sprain. They didn't bring in a stretcher or anything like that.

Doubtful because it looks like his ankle just exploded in the 3rd quarter!!

I like the Hornets, but they won't for 2 reasons:

1) They can't score... they just don't have anyone who can put the ball in the basket. I mean really, besides Paul and West, no body can put up 20 in a game. Maybe Emeka on some nights, but Peja is not the same Peja, and their bench is weak. Paul is averaging a career best 26 a game and is shooting above 60% from 3 and the field last time I checked, while also dishing out 9apg. What happens when he doesn't score? This offense is even worse. They miss Butler very very badly.

2) They're bad defensively... Okafor is a good individual defender in the block, but he's not gonna be that anchor in the paint that Tyson was. Again, Butler was a terrific defender, and he's now gone. The Suns just scored at them at will the other night... I hadn't seen so many open 3s in a long long time.

So no, I don't think they'll make the playoffs... they should defintely try to trade for Steven Jackson, a guy who can score 20 a game, or heck even take a gamble at T-Mac. If they don't get help by the summer, I wouldn't be surprised to see CP3 ask for a trade. Especially if this team is somehow getting worse by the moves they're making.

Just read that Paul got injured... this team will average 40 ppg now. Oh well, just tank and get John Wall in next years draft.

That did not look good for Paul and the hornets. If its a high ankle sprain, He could be out a while.

Yer cos that makes sense? Get wall when we have paul? Doosh!

Vinny642

Well that sucks, that would prevent us from winning, but I am glad about how we played in the 4th and how Collison and Thorton played.

Wow... you great. If history has ever taught us anything about the draft. You always take the best player available. If the Hornets had a chance to get Wall they'd take him in a second. There is a huge drop off after John Wall in next years draft too. So i guess you don't want your team to get any better than.

I can't believe they beat us in overtime. Nowtitzki fouled out early though and Howard didn't even play in the game. + missing 3 free throws when you're up 3 with 9 seconds is pretty pathetic.

Yea but he screwed ourselves which is preventing us from doing anything. Too many big contracts to weak players. The only player that has any trade value is, West

I would try and trade West for Boozer. I think Boozer is an upgrade.

west is on a longer contract than boozer.the whole point of jazz wanting to move him is to shave salary and move milsap to starting role

I have several favorite players, who play on different teams. I don't believe you need to have one fav team or your a "bandwaggoner"...

I'm a fan of the sport 1st and foremost, I like to watch good basketball, no matter who's playing, now if that makes me a "bandwaggoner" then yes, yes I am.

Way too many bonehead decisions on the part of the management. First they traded away their rebounding/shot blocking/alley-ooping machine, and then they fire their coach becuz they're too stupid to realize the REAL reasons why the team is struggling now. Tyson Chandler is a straight up game changer and they let him go. He was the defensive presence in the middle and he brought energy. And now it's all gone. That's pathetic. No wonder Paul and West have pissed off looks on their faces now. Bower broke up the team in a very bad way. Trust me, that guy is no genius. If it wasn't for OKC, he never would have even had the money available to go out and get TC and Peja. We made him look much better than he really is. And now he thinks this team is gonna play for him? I don't think so. Chris Paul was a big Byron Scott supporter. He was also a big Tyson Chandler supporter. And now both of those guys are gone. Do the math and you can clearly see that CP3 is not gonna be in New Orleans for the long haul. I think we should probably just send a jet down to pick him up and bring him HOME to OKC. He'll love playing with Durant, Green, and Westbrook. And of course, we'll have to bring Ty Chandler back. I think that starting 5 five could work. We might win a game or two here and there.

If they trade Okafor then definitely not.

We are trying to dump him with other people with bad contracts, thats why the deal hasnt happened yet, well that is what i hope and think
