I was just about to post it lol, screw you Tragedy.

At the hot corner, Washington Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman completed one of the most well-rounded individual seasons in baseball by winning his first Gold Glove, Zimmerman, who made his first All-Star team and batted .292 with 33 home runs and 106 RBIs, also led all NL third basemen in assists, total chances, total outs recorded and games started.
Finally getting the recognition he deserves. Nyjer Morgan WAS jobbed however, best UZR of all outfielders.
And yes, I agree, Utley was robbed.

Ruiz as well... He is just a monster with the glove. Damn shame.

Agreed, Hudson's UZR/150 was a -3.7.

While Nyjer Morgan had a league leading 35.8 UZR/150.....in comparison to Bourn's 8.7, Victorino's 6.9, and Kemp's 3.2.

Again.
35.8.....8.7....6.9....3.2. Huh.

Hard to give it to Morgan since he only played 120 games, but Victorino definitely didn't deserve it this year. I thought he did last year, but this year he hasn't been as good.

Does anybody know how many votes he did receive, however? I can't find it.

Nah...

They vote on reputation and what's best for the league ( The only reason Jeter won, which was a joke )...

O-Dawg is good, but he won on reputation... Utley's past rep has been towards offense with an average glove... They didn't recognize how much he developed as an overall baseball player...

Yet again, one of the reasons this award is more of a joke than anything else...

Double_R

Albert Pujols and Chase Utley are robbed by the voters...Utley was amazing and Pujols had 6 more errors than AG, but he also had 185 assists(50 more than 2nd place Adrian) and he led the NL in DP's, his 1473 PO's over 2nd place Prince's 1387, you get the idea.
Oh and that Mets fan that said Ruiz deserved it, knows nothing about baseball, Molina will run away with that every year, he is by far the best defensive catcher in baseball, statistically and visually.

The voters are a joke

"And then we've got the rest of them. As usual, Albert Pujols was the best first baseman in the National League. But he made (gasp!) 13 errors, and I suppose some voters simply can't countenance a first baseman who makes 13 errors. So instead of Pujols with his 13 errors, we've got Adrian Gonzalez with his seven errors. That's right, folks: six errors probably cost Pujols the Gold Glove. Or perhaps it was simply a matter of incumbency, as Gonzalez won last year, too. This is far from criminal, as Gonzalez is a fine first baseman. It does strike me as odd that the voters remain reluctant to give Pujols -- who has just one Gold Glove on his mantel -- his due as not only the best hitter, but perhaps the best all-around player in the game today."

-Rob Neyer

i will say this, even though the voters made some erroneous(irony) choices, at least these guys who won ARE good defensive players, unlike some of the choices from the AL, now are all the choices the best picks? no, but at least they are not getting picked just by their offensive production

Sigh...I guess there's always going to be a subthread in these things about metrics. They're damned revealing, many of them, but none of them are perfect.

I'm glad for my Dodgers that won. They are both fun to watch. Are they the best in the league? I don't know. I go to an awful lot of games and I see the opposition playing, but there's no way for me to be sure. I certainly wouldn't call any of these awards outrageous snubs. It's not like the awards were given to people that aren't athletic or don't make plays.

And I really doubt the voters "don't give a crap" or have it in for certain players or teams like some people allege. There's no conspiracy here, folks, just because somebody disagrees with you. Some people need to take a deep breath or go for a walk or something. Relax.

Seriously? Orlando Hudson had a -3.7 UZR/150. I concur that he is a very good defensive player, and that UZR may have it a bit misplayed here, but IMO Utley deserved it more than Orlando "I got benched for Nationals castaway Ronnie Belliard" Hudson

Dude, don't even get me started. All I said is that I don't think UZR is the only way to judge a players defensive ability. I really get so frustrated with people who feel other peoples arguments are ridiculous and don't even really read them. I never said that Player A deserved the award more than Player B, but all I said was that stats can't show everything. And then in your last sentence, you say almost exactly the same thing I said, look at that the hypocrisy there. Utley has been the best defensive player in baseball each of the last three years, proven statistically, unlike your "Hudson dives for more balls, and makes incredible plays". God forbid an award that measures defense use defensive statistics as judgement. That's way too effin complicated. Prince Fielder absolutely murders his homeruns, so we're giving him the Silver Slugger over the quintessential season Pujols just had.

I'm telling you that out of the starters at 2B who logged at least 1000 innings, Felipe Lopez, Clint Barmes, Brandon Phillips, Kaz Matsui, and ESPECIALLY CHASE UTLEY outperformed Orlando Hudson in the field, and should be left hanging ball-free as a result.

And since I know you're wondering after all of that...
