I wouldn't have thought so.

What's the worst record in NBA history? It's seven wins or something isn't it?

I'm a Knicks fan but I DO agree that the Nets have a better core in Harris and Brooks...and to top it off, they have a nice #3 or #4 guy in Lee.

Tanking to get the # 1 pick would be cool for them. Wish the Knicks could do that....if only they wouldn't have traded away their pick for Curry. Honestly, I always felt Curry was a HUGE mistake and didn't want Crawford (even though he's good). I did like Starbury and I did like the Francis trade (though Francis completely broke down after coming here).

well, we have a couple of expiring contracts and we could throw in a draft pick or two. lol

Boozer's contract expires this summer anyway, so it will take more than expirings and a few draft picks.

I still think the best option out there for Utah is Carlos Boozer and Kyle Korver to Detroit for Rip Hamilton and Jason Maxiell.

I just feel bad for them esp for Devin Harris. He could have been used by a team like Portland for example. Amazing how they sucked so so much after the Kidd era. Well thats what the front office gets after refusing to get "impact players" during the Kidd era. Good luck to the 'Bron sweepstakes!

I'd trade Harris for a high post PF and more depth if I were the Nets and let Wall take over.

Wall-Lopez-High post PF- T-Will- F/A SF (Rudy Gay? T-Mac? maybe even Lebron)-Courtney Lee-CDR

is more than enough to start a rebuilding process with.

Or if they don't win the lotto, they could pick a PF and just start from there.

This season will be brutal, but they have a lot to look forward to.

Nets' second-year forward Chris Douglas-Roberts has tested positive for the H1N1 virus.

Douglas-Roberts has not played since New Jersey's 122-94 loss to Denver on Wednesday night. The H1N1 virus was first identified as a "swine flu" in April of this year and declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization in June. In a statement, the Nets said Douglas-Roberts has been treated accordingly for the illness and the team has followed all precautionary health measures mandated by the NBA.

Specifically, Nets coach Lawrence Frank said the rest of the team will take one Tamiflu tablet per day for the next 10 days as a precaution. Frank didn't know how long Douglas-Roberts, who is averaging 15.6 points, would be out. But he said the stage of him being contagious "has run its course."

"But I talked to him today, he doesn't sound very good," Frank said.

Veteran forward Bobby Simmons, who sits next to Douglas-Roberts in the Nets' locker room, said he recognizes the H1N1 virus as "very serious," but he was not worried about being so close in proximity to his ailing teammate.

"I went to the grocery store this morning and a lot of people were coughing in there, too," Simmons said. "It's just something in the air that's going on right now."

Douglas-Roberts is believed to be the first player in the league to be officially diagnosed with H1N1. With his absence, the winless Nets had only eight healthy bodies for Saturday night's home contest against the Boston Celtics.

Fail.

They wont be that terrible. Remember, they are without Harris right now...Yi is out for a while, Courtney is banged up, CDR has the flu...etc.

When healthy, they have some good talent. They might have the worst record in the league, but they wont be epically bad.

we played with 8 guys last night. 44 minutes for alston, 41 for brook. kinda a lot. even sean williams got 5 minutes. we can't afford to have another injury/illness. otherwise we'd need to sign someone... like eddie gill or whoever.

If they get the worst record...Imagine them in 2010:

Current team:

Lopez/Boone/Battie
Jianlian/Najera/Williams
Douglas-Roberts/Simmons/Hassell
Lee/Hayes/Williams
Harris/Alston/Dooling

With the worst record.. they get the 1st overall pick.

After expiring contracts:

Lopez
Jianlian/Najera/Williams
Douglas-Roberts
Lee/Williams
Harris/Dooling

options on CDR and Sean Williams.. accept CDR and decline Sean Williams
draft John Wall with 1st overall
Sign James, Bosh and Re-Sign Boone and Battie

Lopez/Boone/Battie
Bosh/Jianlian/Najera
James/CDR
Lee/Williams
Harris/Wall/Dooling

Automatic contender right there.. Wall eventually playing SG? or stealing starting PG spot and Nets trading Harris for a SG?

Devin Harris, an improved CDR, terrance williams who is a good rookie, and Brook Lopez. No i dont see then getting the worst record ever.

maybe the knicks because they get blowed out all of the time.

arkanian215
11-08-2009, 01:52 PM
lol doesnt happen like that. we only have space for one max. also there's a cap hold for boone and battie. so we can't use any of that cap space to sign another player unless we choose not to re-sign them.

i think we could win like 25-30 games this year. all of the injured players are coming back at around the same time, so maybe we'll start playing good then.
or am i being too optimistic?

vash9
11-08-2009, 02:00 PM
i don't think we'll be THAT bad.

When our injured players return, it would be better.

Also, Dropping Harris for Wall, in my opinion, isn't such a great idea at the moment. If we do get the #1 pick, we should keep both. Have Wall come out for Backup or backup SG. He has a lot of energy and plays more of a SG style.

We have a lot of improved players, good energy from young guys.

we're just plagued with injuries surprisingly this starting season.

1. Those of you saying this is too early to talk about the worst record ever, ppl are already starting threads about the "steal of the draft" and john wall dominating the league, so...

2. Losing good players on a bad team will absolutely kill your record.

3. Lopez is reason enough to bet against them having the worst record ever, though don't get too optimistic Nets fans.

Harris is still one of the best point guards in the NBA and is the cog that keeps the Nets moving. I doubt they'll have the worst record ever, if he comes back and stays healthy most of the season. Even without Harris to spread the floor, brook Lopez is still playing well. Once Harris comes back, he'll only be more dangerous.
Despite my optimism, Mikhail Prokhorov might actually want the Nets to tank. It would mean another lottery pick to help build a great team. It might also mean more trade value to get an all-star veteran, even while Prokhorov is probably willing to go over the luxury cap (those Russian oligarchs love to flaunt their money). Either way, the Nets are looking good in the long run.

JasonJohnHorn
11-08-2009, 09:02 PM
Its possible. They are bad enough, but the question isn't just "are they that bad", the question is are the other teams good and consistent enough? The Toronto Raptors beat the 72-win Bulls and they were one of the worst teams in the league that year. If great teams can play below their standard, than so cna average teams, so its possible that the Nets can win as many as 20, but I see them winning around 15, though single digits are possible.

umm devon harris is a great player. why would you give him up ?

you have a better chance at james if you keep harris and just draft a # 1. if wall is your pick
harris can play the 2.
