UPPER MARLBORO, Md., Nov. 3 (UPI) -- Cleveland Cavaliers guard Delonte West has been indicted on new weapons charges stemming from his September arrest, prosecutors said Tuesday.

Prince George's County, Md., State's Attorney Glenn Ivey said a grand jury has indicted West on two counts of carrying a dangerous weapon, two counts of carrying a handgun, two counts of transporting a handgun, a single count of reckless driving as well as a count of negligent driving, The (Cleveland) Plain Dealer reported.

Goodbye Delonte, see you in 2-5 years.

If he doesn't get prison time, the judicial system is a joke.

TI got 1 year in prison when the minimum was 30 years.

Maybe he pulls 1 of those.

He did get 12 PPG last year on a contender.

Pretty important role player if you ask me.

It's a known fact he is bi-polar. With a good attorney, I wouldn't be shocked to see a very short sentencing...if any at all.

I'm a big Delonte fan. Think he's a good guy. But that doesn't mean he's better than the judicial system. Hopefully he gets fair justice.

I think Delonte was the third most important player on Cleveland last year. His shooting, his ball handling, his defense especially. He is a guy who can do everything. A great, great role player.

If he misses time this year, it is a big loss.

Plaxico had a gun in New York City. TI had multiple charges and was looking at 10 years max. Add that Delonte has been documented as bipolar and sought help in the past and after this incident, and we're looking a bit of different situation.

I have no clue what he'll end up getting. This "judicial system is a joke if he doesn't get multiple years in prison" **** is serious, serious garbage though.

Exactly!

People see 'multipe gun charges' and assume he's gone for 10 years.

If this guy sees a jail cell I'll be absolutely SHOCKED.

Each state has different gun laws. Hell, if this happened in Texas we wouldn't even have heard about it.

All the charges are misdemeanors!

Only way he'll be 'gone' is if the league suspends him.....10-15 games is what I'm guessing it'll be. Blow to the Cavs, but nothing major if it's only that long.

Big fine and maybe some community service. That's the most he should get from the law.

I actually know someone that's been pulled over with a concealed loaded weapon (though it was not 'on' the person). Spent the night in jail and that was it other than a fine and probation.

Delonte didn't hurt ANYONE here. Didn't open fire, wasn't transporting weapons with intent to sell, nothing! He even told the officer he had concealed weapons, so he didn't endanger any cops.

Had he been a big dick about all this to the cops, then 'maybe' he'd get hit harder, but Maryland is not even close to as strict as NY is about guns.

Delonte West is very important to that Cavs team, he was also one of the only players who could get his own shot off. If the Cavs have to say bye bye West, they may whisper under their breath, bye bye championship.

As a law student i do know some states have laws considering bio-polar people. This is also West's first offense. All charges are misdemeanors.

With a good lawyer West will get the fellowing-

- huge fine
- couple years probation
- see help for his dis-order
- NBA will suspend him 8 games

No jail time.

or trade.

They could do Z for S. Jackson right now. But they need a backup center because shaq's health can always be a question.

Just in case anyone runs over what was mentioned a few posts above, these are all misdemeanor charges. With no prior past that I am aware of, he will likely get a 5,000 fine and 2-3 years on propation.

I have no doubt that Delonte will be playing in the NBA again this season, despite his indictment. Seven/Eight figures in our society = Do pretty much whatever the hell you please. He could have been driving drunk with a pound of kush in the car while getting head from a prostitute and blindly firing off rounds and only recieved a year of probation.

I'd put a large sum of money on him not doing one day of time. Cleveland gun laws are not nearly as stiff as most states. He is bi-polar. He will have a great attorney. This his is first offense. They are not felonies.

Sorry Cavs haters (most of the world). He wont miss much time, if any. And this isn't the NFL...he probably wont get much punishment from the league.

This was in Maryland, not Cleveland. Lucky for him.

BTW- people calling west ugly. I don't judge dudes, But there are many many NBA players way nastier then him. Anthony Johnson comes to mind. He looks like beetle juice from Howard stern.

Delonte is very aggresive and a hell of a defender so if you think west is not valuable to the Cavs then u dont know b ball. You may not care about west but when it comes to the game he understand it well and plays the hell out of his role. do u think If Lamar Odom ( role player ) was not with the lakers last year they would have got as far
