This is something I just heard on SportsCenter.

The Phils may pitch Cliff Lee 3-4 innings tonight, and have him go again game 7.

I like this strategy a lot from a Philly point of view. Thoughts?

You have to focus on winning game 5 before thinking about game 7 Charlie

This wouldnt even make sense...If we did this and Lee went 3-4 innings that means that we would have to go deep into our pen which has been absolutely terrible all year...if we did somehow pull out a win, then that means Pedro would pitch in game 6, and he hasnt pitched more then 6 innings since the regular season

We've got Happ ready to go, and this is only of course if the Phillies can jump out to a nice early 5-0 lead or something of that sort. It's no use winning Games 5 and 6 if we have to essentially forfeit Game 7 with no starter.

Your reasoning makes no sense.. how would you be forfeiting game 7 with a line up as potent as yours? It doesn't matter who starts for you guys, you always have a chance to score 7+ runs.

You take it one game at a time.. you aren't in the position to worry about Game 7 when you are down 3-1.

This makes sense only if we light up Burnett

there wouldn't be enough bridges in Philly if the Phils went up by 6 or more runs, pulled Lee after 3 or 4 innings, and then lost.....

....let's worry about winning first before we think about Game 7

You've been listening to the national media too much. Other than Lidge, our bullpen was fine. Not great, but fine.

Regardless, I've made my feelings known on this idea in a couple of other threads. Long story short: huge risk but one I could see paying big dividends. Assuming Lee does pitch a normal amount of innings, we don't have a lot of options for Game 7. It would be Hamels' turn but he's a risk for obvious reasons. Happ hasn't been used much in the playoffs, which is stupid but it's the reality of the situation. I'd expect to see a committee approach.

Still have to win two games before any of this matters, though.

I heard it too, but I think they were making predictions and he(wasnt it kruk) was saying the Phils would be up 12-0 after the 3rd or 4th, then they would pull him and use him for game 7. Thats all it was
