Eastern rankings after week 1 blog entry:

check it out and let me know what you think...heres a clip from it (but click the link and check out the whole article for the rest of the rankings).

Here's how the Eastern Conference looks after Week 1:

1. Boston Celtics: KG is back and healthy and the Celtics are rolling, winning their first few games by over 20 points per. Boston appears to be the cream of the crop again in the east.

2. Orlando Magic: With Vince Carter going down with an ankle sprain and Rashard out for another couple weeks on suspension, Dwight will need to carry a stronger load to keep this team winning games. This team is not elite when it...

If you are truly ranking them just based on what we've actually seen this year...then Cleveland can't be that high. But I agree, they'll be fine, and will finish in the top 3.

I think they're fine besides that...I might bump Chicago up a few.

Seems accurate.

I think Raps can get from 4-6

Yeah I agree, despite Clev being labeled as a top 3 team, based on their 0-2 start they should be lower. And also, it's a bit much to say Miami and Atl will be fighting for the 4th seed..you basing that off of 2 games? JO has looked great so far, but he's been injured every season in recent years. Do you think he's going to keep that form over 82 games without injury?

Overall though props.

They are playing like the 9th best team in the East. Obviously they are better than that, but right now they aren't showing it. I can legitimately understand ranking them anywhere from 3-9.

Hey....it is what it is. I can't rank a team with 2 losses above those with one. Cleveland could end up with 3rd best record in east, but so far they suck.

So neither of you saw them last night... They played brilliantly, their ball movement was fluid and Shaq, Parker and Moon were starting to look like they were getting used to the offense.

Super.

Dude, they started off 0-2! and lost to the Raptors, who they should have CLEARLY beat. Right now theres NO WAY they are the 3rd best team in the East!

So what if the played ONE good game. Are you not going to figure in the 2 losses that they suffered beforehand?

at this moment in time, putting them 3rd is insanity

Usually, a team that stumbles at the start would shoot down the rankings, but the Cavaliers still have LeBron James. That one player makes them the third best team in the east right now, despite the fact that Shaquille is showing how old he is and all the other members suck.

I think they are a top 3 team...they haven't shown it this year. Fact of the matter, despite one game (against the mighty Timberwolves), is that they are 1-2. End of story.

Cavs had to open with Boston, tough loss, then travel to Toronto and play the next night against the Raptors. They aren't below #3.

Heat are not better than the Hawks but it was made by a Heat fan so whatever.

Exactly my point, they played the Timberwolves, which is one of the worst teams in the NBA. Beating the Wolves with nice ballmovement doesn't mean anything if you're chasing a championship, it's their obligation to beat these kind of teams, so the way they played last night, it really didn't show anything, lets see them playing like that against Magic or Spurs.

Nice blog Daleja. I'd probably swap the Cavs and Atlanta, but everything else looks about right.

The Cavs looked dismal in both losses and Shaq seems to slow them down. Though Shaq is better than Zeke, at least Zeke can open up the paint for LeBron when he steps outside and hits those 18fters. Shaq doesn't have that and he takes up too much space in the paint. Shaq isn't as good as Zeke at setting picks either which is pathetic. He seems to just stay in the paint and demand the ball which hinders LeBron's ability to completely take over a game by putting the ball on the floor and driving the lane. I do think they'll mesh eventually though like you said, LeBron just needs some time to learn how to play with Shaq. Shaq's too old to change the way he plays, so LeBron will need to slightly alter his game to accommodate Shaq's strengths and style of play. They'll be okay by the All-star break.

The Hawks scare me at this point and I'll be sitting on pins and needles every time we play them. Let's pray JO stays healthy. If the heat remain healthy this season I think we'll look forward to competing for the 4-6 seed.

After beating San Antonio and then having to travel to Boston to play the Celtics.

Pistons need to be lower, #12.

Looked incredibly soft against the Grizzlies and got killed on the boards, Then lost AT HOME to the Thunder.

You didn't mention that San Antonio also had to travel to Chicago, after playing a late game the previous day. So basically, you beat a tired Spurs just like the Bulls was tired in Boston. I honestly think the Bulls will be lucky to be 9th in East. We shall see.

Does it say Playoff Predictions somewhere? Looks more like Power Rankings IMO, i.e "Ranking the east after one week".... that said, Cavs aren't even close to top 5, 8-9 is more like it. Obviously, that could change.

A team does not go from being the preseason favorites to rep the east by many experts to being the 9th best team in the east in 1 week. Based on one week I moved them down from 1 to 3. If they continue to struggle they will move down more. These are rankings on who I feel r the best teams. Cleveland had a slow start...doesnt diminish them as a team IMO

Sure it does, as a team, they're still 2-2. Should be 3-1, but easily could be 1-3
