If you have a star PG, would you rather have a star SG or star SF with him and why?

I'll use an example:

If your star PG is Chris Paul or Deron Williams, do you want your star to be a SG like Brandon Roy or Joe Johnson or would you want your star to be a SF like Danny Granger or Carmelo Anthony with them?

Those are just random examples though.

I got to go w/ SF...only b/c PG usually do better w/ a bigger player to play along side...SF are usually bigger & can post up, leaving the top of the key open, were PG usually are...With two star players in the back court there maynt be enough shots to go around & you limit what you can do w/ them like P&R...

I would go with with SF mostly due to the fact that a star SG usually needs the ball more than a star SF. A star SF can usually play better without the ball, and star PG's usually dominates the ball.

It depends on the rest of the team, obviously.

SF no why just cause that makes the best sense for a star pg.

If your PG is a star then it likely means he can score also.
So better to have more versatility than another primary scorer.

Chris Paul or Deron with Melo would be nasty.

the star SF would have the size of a small PF and the speed & ball handling of a SG... perfect match

I m gonna go with star sf, because a good passing point guard fits better with the small forward because they slash alot more then a shooting guard. Chris Paul with Lebron James would be deadly.

If i had a star PG, I would take a star SF because Small Forwards are mostly slashers, so the point guard could pass it to the small forward while hes slashing for the easy bucket.

A star SF... just because i see a star PG and SG bumping heads more than I see a PG & a SF

You need an inside/outside balance. There's a reason that Kobe and Jordan never had a great point guard backing them up. They needed a wing and/or an inside presence to give their teams versatility. Despite all that, I would give a back court of Wade and Paul a chance of winning a championship any day of the week.

wow this is more one sided than i expected! it really doesnt make that much difference to me but i went with sf. though the perfect partnership would be a pg and centre....but thats just my thoughts!

It doesn;t really matter... They're relatively the same position as their wings. Depends in what system you would play in. In a run-n-gun system, (D'Antoni), a good SF would be the best compliment to a PG. Really doesn't not make a difference. A better questions would be: If you have a star PG, would you rather have a star WING or star BIG...pretty easy answer IMO.
