Hey, Brian: The Cavs plan to push the ball more in transition this season. Also, LeBron plans to post up more and spend significantly more time inside the 3-point line. Would this lead to LeBron playing more minutes at power forward, considering the lack of a stretch power forward? -- Mike Shannon, Chicago.

Hey, Mike: After the Cavs signed Joe Smith last season, they stopped playing small ball (LeBron at power forward) as much. Now with Shaq, Anthony Parker and Jamario Moon on the team, the formula is perfect for LeBron to play a lot at power forward. With he and O'Neal or Varejao playing as the "bigs" surrounded by shooters, the Cavs could create numerous matchup problems on offense.

Would Lebron be a better SG or PF?

Lebron is playing every position when he's on the court. It doesn't matter where they put him on the game sheet. He's going to handle the ball like a point, get into the paint like a big and score like a wing.

hed be good either way, but i said sg because he'd have a better size advantage and can basically do the same stuff he does at sf. pf he'd be pretty much the same size as most pf's just stronger and more athletic, but his assignments would be pretty different.

he could probably play all 5 positions (not the 5 so well though) but with his skills he'll be a better two. His post game could use some work

I'd rather put him at the PF position.

better at the sg position. lebron hasnt really developed the back to basket skills/ postup moves that a powerforward would require and could create, as he already does, huge matchup problems at sg

he can't play shooting guard (SG) because he can't shoot :hide:

Lebron can't guard KG, Pau Gasol etc. By putting him at SG it creates mismatches for the other team because of his size.

Screw the PF and SG position. PG would be best for him.

Lebron would be better and more efficient at PF.

Shooting guard and small forward are pretty much the same in today's game, so I'd say he'd be better at guard. It would be good for him to work on his post skills and play some minutes at power forward, it's stuff like that that can eventually extend his career.

PF, why do people think you need to have post skills to play the 4? Its not like hes going to set up camp on the lowblocks and post someone whos probably just as big as him now.

All this means is that if Bron is playing the 4, hes surrounded by 3 shooters/athletic swings, thats all this terminology means. Now you tell me, do you think Bron is at his best when he can take a 4man off the dribble with all the spacing in the world, nah thats insane.

Brons #'s at the 4, INSANE

Look at the team lineups when he plays the 4, and the teams efficiency.

Trying to exploit Brons size in the post isnt as effective as exploiting his speed on slower players. Its why people complain about his post game, its funny that you guys switch the roles.

If Bron is playing the 2, hes going to POST UP

If Bron is playing the 4, hes going to FACE UP

You guys follow me?

Now defensively is where we have a problem, but all I saw last year was if there was a big on Bron that could overpower him, they could trap and recover. They werent strong overall but it wasnt because of Bron, their liability was usually Wally or Mo/Gibson, but now that theyve added 2 athletic defenders and can play Delonte at the 1, their overall length and athleticism will more than compensate for their lack of bulk/height.

So yes he will play alot more 4, and it will definitely help his game more.
