The Tigers are going to be at the Metrodome against the red hot Minnesota Twins. This is going to be an epic battle.

This is the game thread for the game.

Game starts Tuesday at 4:07pm central time.

The game will be broadcasted on TBS.

Joe Mauer has to wait until Tuesday to claim the batting title as game 163 counts as a regular season game. Mauer will lose his batting title if he goes 0-18 or worse.

Probable pitchers:

Detroit Tigers
Rick Porcello, RHP (14-9, 4.04)
Tigers (86-76)

Scouting Report via Twinsbaseball.com:
Tigers: The AL Central tiebreaker between the Tigers and Twins will be unlike any of Porcello's previous 30 starts this season. He has pitched in high-pressure situations like Fenway Park in midsummer, Busch Stadium in a big Interleague Play matchup, and the Metrodome a few weeks ago to start Detroit's key three-game series there. Still, the last time Porcello pitched in a true win-or-go-home situation was likely high school. "I'm sure he's pitched in a tough environment," manager Jim Leyland said, "but I doubt that 50 scouts down the right-field line freezing their tails off in New Jersey somewhere is going to be like this." Porcello has two quality starts in as many tries against the Twins over the past 2 1/2 weeks, but he received two runs of offensive support in those two games combined. At the Metrodome this season, he is 0-2 and allowed seven earned runs in 10 innings.

Rick Porcello's career vs Min: 1-2, 3.09 ERA, .299 BAA
Last Month: 2-1, 3.38 ERA, 1.36 WHIP

vs

Minnesota Twins
Scott Baker, RHP (15-9, 4.36)
Twins (86-76)

Scouting Report via Twinsbaseball.com: Baker will go for the Twins in game No. 163 against the Tigers in a game that will decide the AL Central champion. It will be the right-hander's second crucial game against Detroit in as many starts, as Baker also faced the Tigers Thursday to help the Twins split the four-game series. In that start, Baker picked up the win by pitching five innings, allowing only one unearned run. He's been Minnesota's strongest pitcher during the second half of the season, going 12-4 since July 12. He is 1-1 with a 6.75 ERA in four starts against the Tigers this season.

Scott Baker's career vs Det: 5-4, 4.33 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, .270 BAA
Last Month: 3-2, 3.97 ERA, 1.38 WHIP

More information to come shortly.

Baker career vs Det: 5-4, 4.33 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, .270 BAA

Porcello career vs Min: 1-2, 3.09 ERA, .299 BAA
---> Last Month: 2-1, 3.38 ERA, 1.36 WHIP

Advantage: Push.

most likely the season series. This sucks for the twins if they lose in a tie breaking game for the second season in a row

Twins won the season series. MLB changed the rule from a coin toss to season series record.

Either way this is going to be a great game. Though this favors the Twins by a lot just by being in the dome.

We will see how good Porcello does under 60,000 fans pressuring him as he is only 20 years old. Also the game itself will put a ton of pressure on him.

I'd give the pitching matchup to the Twinkies and I think the heart attack Twinkies will win this game. I pick the Twins.

i got the twins for the simple fact that if i were the tigers i would have started justin verlander the ace and if i was minnie..well idc they should jus throw out whoeever they think will give them the best chance. I dont understand why they wouldnt start verlander even iff its short rest u cant save someone for the postseason if u lose in the most important game

cwilson21

Hopefully the Twins don't lose another 163rd game. That was absolutely heartbreaking last year. I think Mauer is going to really solidify his MVP status on Tuesday.

Yeah they had to pitch Verlander today or they wouldn't have even been a one game playoff. He threw like 120 pitches today on 3 days rest, no way he pitches again on Tuesday lol.

wowowow what like fake baseball fans we have in here damn people dont know who rick porcello is and others dont know how home field advatage was determined

well first answer Rick Porcello is god in a tigers uniform

2nd answer is the mlb execs get together and flip a bunch of coins about a month ago and use every combination of who could tie out there

which means they not only determined that homefield advantage homefield was also determined for things such as marlins phillies, giants braves, dodgers rockies red sox rangers and so on haha

liondragonx5y

Omg, 4 hours in the online waiting room and finally I get tickets. The only thing I was able to get was 2 tickets in section 211. Not the worst in the world but not what I was hoping for :)

I'll make due though. Atleast I get to be there!

5 minutes after I got the tickets they were offically sold out.

I am sooooooo lucky

If they aren't good enough to beat the Twins heads up, they're somehow a better match for the Yankees?

Mainly for pitching reasons (although they have struggled lately in that department). Historically, they've been a tough match for the Yankees.

It's the Twins way of doing things. Detroit can be up 11-0 and I still still think the Twins will get 29 consecutive hits to win in this forsaken hell hole.

There should be more twins fans like that at the dome.
They wouldn't have made it seem as quiet.

JDIsMyGod23

And it starts now. Span will hit a blooper down the left field line.
