How far will your favorite team go? I know we all want to win the championship and some are just so naive to think that somehow, someway, they will win the championship. Truth is there are other teams, so let's be realistic here...at this point, with the team you have, how far do you think your team will go.

Mine

Miami Heat: No 5 East, 2nd round exit.

The Kings will go as far as....the lottery.
Bobcats, too soon to tell. At best they barely make it, at worst, lotto again.

The Lakers aren't going to win 70 games. They do still have a great shot at the championship though.

30 wins... that's generous, 25 tops.

Cavs gonna at least get to the ECF, and whoever that's against (Celtics, Magic, a suprise team) it will be an epic series... Can see us going all the way aswell.

I believe they'll grab the 8th playoff seed in the East.

Lets look at the fact:
1 - They are bringing back the same 33 or so win team
2 - They have one year of adjustment for Dantoni already under their belt.
3 - They added a few good pieces.
4 - They are getting the "good" Eddy Curry back.

All of those things combined make me think that the Knicks should be somewhere around 40 wins on the season (or just a tad bit less) and will get that 8th seed in the East...and attract LeBron, Wade, and Amare (or Bosh) to the team next season.

I can see the Sixers winning 45 games this season along with taking the 5th seed of the East...with a fully healthy Brand, Kapono's ability to shoot the three ball, an improved Thad Young and Iguodala, this team could be scary IMO.

Blake Griffin. Baron Davis. Eric Gordon. Al Thornton. Marcus Camby. Rasual Butler. Steve Novak. Ricky Davis. Chris Kaman. Sebastian Telfair.

Come on, that's a playoff team, mixture of good veteran players and future stars. Last year, it was just injuries. For the Phoenix Suns, Shaq slowed down the offense and Amar'e was injured so they didn't get as far in the playoffs.

3. San Antonio Spurs: No 2 West (58 wins), NBA Western Conference Finals exit
4. Cleveland Cavaliers: No 3 East (60 wins), NBA Eastern Conference Semi-Finals exit
5. Boston Celtics: No 1 East (62 wins), NBA Finals exit

I agree with the 70 wins, but Lakers will 3peat. Lakers didn't even have that great of a season last year and won, everything falls into place this year. If and I know if is a huge word, but if they stay healthy, they will be close to unbeatable.

I agree with all of that except for the Curry part. We need him to be good enough to trade.

They'll lose in Western Finals to some entity.. I don't want to say LA because they're terrible but..

They'll win the Championship in 2011.. That's as realistic as I can be. Blazers are a team to be respected in the West.. wouldn't you all agree?

mrblisterdundee
10-02-2009, 02:56 PM
Despite their improvement at the point guard position, Portland will most likely bow out in the first round of the playoffs again, due to a lack of front court toughness. LaMarcus Aldridge will improve, but Oden is really the player who needs to come up big for Portland to have any chance.
Ultimately, it depends on the mat-up. I think Portland would own on Houston if they met in the first round again. Los Angeles or Denver would dominate Portland, but they probably won't meet in the first round. Dallas or San Antonio could end up knocking out Portland. The best possible scenario is probably a match-up with Houston, assuming they can even reach the playoffs. New Orleans wouldn't be that bad of a match-up for Portland either.

A lot of people think Denver will fall off, but I think they'll continue to build on the improvements they made last season with having kept nearly the entire team intact. Other teams made more headlines in the offseason, but those marquee trades often don't turn out as well as hoped/expected. The Nuggets know how to win with the team they currently have, they know who they are and how to operate successfully. Barring injury, I think they have every chance in the world to be a legit contender.
