That's just called being committed to building a good team.

Its kind of like the Knicks in the 2000's. They were finally committed to buying up all of the good talent...problem was that they either got people that had problems (Curry), people that overachieved (Jeffries), people that had mental problems (Marbury), or people on the decline (Francis).

Mark Cuban is a fan. He wants to get money but he wants his team to win. He tries to do what the Yankees do for baseball. Overspend to show your fans that you care a lot.

To be honest he might be the best player that's gonna come out next year. I think Lebron, Bosh, and Wade are all gonna stay put because that is where they wanna be and all their teams have shown signs of improving (except the heat of course, but we're banking on 2010). I hope the heat get Joe Johnson because i think he's a stud, i have no idea how we can incorporate him on the team, but they'll find a way.

I've talked a couple of times about him possibly going to Houston. It would be pretty cool if he did, I think that's the best fit for him. They can get a high-to-midrange draft pick this season as well, so they could look like this next season:

Aaron Brooks/Kyle Lowry
Joe Johnson/Trevor Ariza
Shane Battier
Luis Scola/Carl Landry
Yao Ming

Plus a solid draft pick. Not bad...

Lol and do you think that works? The Mavs haven't won a championship yet, the Knicks are trash, and the Yankees have only started to do good again. Overspending is clearly not the way to do things, the Spurs, Pistons, and even the Lakers, to an extent, don't do it that way and have a **** load of championships. Joe Johnson better not go over there because ima have to start hating on them lol.

What SHOULD happen is that Joe Johnson gets traded to the Golden State Warriors for Monta Ellis+ 1st round pick+ fillers as long as joe johnson agrees to an extension with the warrios.

what i think WILL happen for sure is that Joe Johnson signs with the Timberwolves. There an up and coing team with alot of young talent and they have the money and the only thing they lack is a great wing player

Yeah, meaning his contract is worthless if you don't trade for JJ by trade deadline in Feb. of 2010.

With Dampier's contract, if he plays under a certain amount of minutes in the 09-10 season, you can buy him out dirt cheap in his last year (2010). Meaning, you can use Dampier's contract in the summer of 2010... Tmacs' you can't.

Howard's contract is a team option, you can keep him for 09-10 and 10-11 season, or you can just finish him out for 09-10 season and use the team option to not resign him.

Yep, it's at $91'377'313. I don't know what the salary cap is this year, but I'm fairly certain that the Lakers payroll for this season almost doubles it.

However, it's important to note that of the 13 players with guaranteed contracts this season, five were acquired through trades, four were drafted, and only four were signed from free agency. Of those four, two see less than 20 minutes per game (Josh Powell - 14 MPG, DJ Mbenga - 6 MPG).

The Lakers spend a lot of money, but it's not like they just throw their money at the first available free agent. Nine of the thirteen players came to LA through the draft and trades, the Lakers are smart when it comes to personnel decisions.

EDIT: Oh by the way, if you use the multi-quote button (located to the right of the quote button), it will help keep the threads clean and fast-loading. Not trying to be an *******, just trying to make the thread more digestable...

I love Calderon... but Toronto is like Dallas in that they seriously lack quality big men. That list of starting 5 is awesome on paper, but they are pure offense. JJ does play solid D, but Bosh and Bargs aren't really good at protecting the rim. They must address that asap. So if they traded Bosh or Bargs for a legit center, then I can see JJ being a useful impact in Toronto.

Jazz(Boozer)

In all honesty, would you rather have an injury prone star player on the decline that has never been past the first round and only averaged 15ppg last season or a serviceable center that can rebound and block and a former all star SF that can get you 20 and 7 when healthy?

Joe Johnson for Tracy McGrady or for Josh Howard and Erick Dampier wouldn't work. Johnson is set to earn $14'000'000 this year, whilst McGrady gets $23'239'561, and Howard and Dampier combined make $21'002'500. For either deal to happen, Atlanta would have to add extra players to the deal, which I'm not sure they'd want to do.

As great as Wade is, Johnson might be the better fit for you guys. You already have Derrick Rose, who handles the ball a lot and should develop into one of the top-five PGs in the league. Since Wade also handles the ball a lot, it might be tough for him and Rose to work well together. Johnson is much more comfortable playing off the ball, which is a much better fit.

Ultimately though, with the back court trio of Rose, Hinrich and Salmons already in place, the Bulls would be far better off spending their time and money looking for front court help next summer.

I'm talking about a trade this season, should the Hawks want to get something in return for Johnson rather than risk losing him next summer. In that case, they'd probably get more than Howard or Dampier.
