View Full Version : Most Underrated Team

For me it's the Sixers I feel they are being overlooked. Andre Igoudala emerged last year in the playoffs as the teams star player after being shutdown in the playoffs the year before. Thaddeus Young will emerge as one of the league's best young players, He's in his third year and he's only 21. If it were not for an injury late in the year to Young the Sixers might have finished 4th or 5th in the east. Elton Brand is coming off an injury and should be more effective this year. They also have a strong bench with a second year player Mareese Speights that could fill in at center for Samuel Dalembert if he struggles.

The Bench also includes 3 point specialist Jason Kapono acquired from Toronto, Rookie Jrue Holiday which was a great value pick at where the Sixers got him in the draft, and Rodney Carney who was reacquired last from who avergaed 16 points per 40 minutes last year who could also add some 3 point shooting ability to a team that has been lacking in that.

Lou Williams takes over the point and Dalembert takes the center position which are my two concerns for the team. I want to see how both do in new coach Eddie Jordan's princeton offense. I believe that Lou will do fine because he had great scoring ability when he was in the game. He average 21.7 per 40 minutes. Dalember is not going to be an offensive threat and is still going to be solid defensively if he is not commiting fouls. Hopefully the Sixers can make a trade and get another team to take his contract.

I see no reason this Sixers team can't finish with 45-50 wins and finish around 4th or 5th in the East.

For those who say I am a homer you might be right but to be honest I really think this will be a very solid team in the East. I also like Indiana though Danny Granger and TJ Ford are both great players.

I disagree the last time Arenas was healthy they only finished 5th in the East and the East is stronger now than it was in 06 07. Also Jamison and Butler have no character when Arenas went down they gave up on the season.

I think its the suns, not a homer pick. A lot of people are are saying the Thunder and the Clips are gonna eclipse the suns for the 8th spot, but its just not gonna happen (unless major injury)

Starting 5:
Steve Nash
Jason Richardson
Grant Hill
Channing Frye
Amare Stoudemire

The perfect fit for a SSOL offense. All very good shooters who can run the floor.
Only problem is on defense.

The bench:
Leandro Barbosa
Louis Amundson
Jared Dudley
Goran Dragic
Earl Clark
Robin Lopez
Taylor Griffen

Much more defensive then the starting 5, but a very deep bench.

I see tihs team suprising a lot of people and teams this year.

The Rockets. They may lack talent with Yao out, but they still have tough, smart players who will always play hard. Sometimes effort can surmount combined talent...and the Rockets will be a giant killer this season...even if they are likely to come up short for a postseason birth.

Brooks could become a MIP if his series against LA was any indication. They have wing defenders in Battier and Ariza...the former also being one of the smartest players in the league. They also have the experienced Luis Scola, who is a scrappy forward who outsmarts and outhustles most opposing bigs.

They have some tough role players in Landry, Hayes and Lowry...and if Tracy McGrady can somewhat return to his old form and stay relatively healthy, they will prolly overachieve and actually grab the lower seed.

Houston is not a contender...but not many teams match them in basketball IQ, experience and defensive toughness.

Atlanta gets soooo overlooked, I bet I'm the only one (other than him ^^) who thinks they'll lock up that 4th seed next season.

The Nuggets. No-one's really talking about them, but I think they're the strongest team after the Lakers and Celtics this season. I'm not terribly high on Orlando, Cleveland or San Antonio.

How about the Nets. I think they can find away to possibly get the 8th seed which would be huge since they are rebuilding and traded away Vince Carter. Here is why they may suprise a lot of people...

Devin Harris- top 7 PG in NBA, an all star everyone knows he is a rising star
Brook Lopez- Great last year as a rookie. He will be even better and can step up big
Courtny Lee- People say he has potential to be an all star with 20ppg and great D. If he can do it that gives us 3 big scoring threats

YI- He always had potential and was drafted 6th for a reason. He has bulked up and really done great in training camp and with China. Can he live up to the hype?

starting 5:

PG- Harris
SG- Lee
SF- Hayes
PF- YI
C- Lopez

They also have a nice bench with Terrance Williams, Bobby Simmons, CDR, Josh Boone, Keyon Dooling, Rafer Alston.

Am i homer, or can they get the 8th seed?

Sixers were the first team that popped into my mind.
Also, the Raptors.
I see why people would say the WIZ but we've seen how far a younger Arenas, Butler, Jamison tandem gets them. Do you really think a foye and miller throw in is going to get them past the Cavs?

I think the Denver Nuggets might be a tad bit underrrated, a lot of people argue that they haven't made any significant moves this offseason. But I think in retaining some of their players, picking up Lawson and Afflalo was HUGE. Also, wait and see what kind of team this is when Billups takes them through Traning camp.
