"I've been telling them [this players] that it's always harder to do it twice," Jackson said last week. "It's a challenge physically, it's a challenge mentally because everybody's prepared for you, and you're coming off a long season.

"You've done extraneous things [Editor's note: such as Pau Gasol's playing for Spain in the recently concluded European tournament] and the drive's not there. But we are perfectly capable of doing this again."

Do you agree with him?

Yes, I agree. In my experience, every time I have won a second consecutive NBA title, I found it harder than the first title.

I always think this, and then I also think about how badass it must be to get to coach Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, and Shaq in the same lifetime.

Depends.

Some teams like to slack off thinking that they have already been there and think that they already know whats coming.

Some teams are hungrier for the 2nd ring so they work their *** off.

Depends who the Lakers want to be more.

Phil is the only coach to have MJ, Bryant and Shaq on his resume of players coached.

More badass if he can get 4.

phil has not been their only head coach

Phil is the only coach who has coached all three of them at some point in his career.

And Pat Riley has coached Magic Johnson, Kareem, James Worthy, Dwayne Wade, Shaq, Patrick Ewing, Alonzo Mourning, and Tim Hardaway, so don't even try to use that argument.

That's all I needed to hear from the Zen Master!

I have to agree with Phil on this one, it's very difficult to repeat because it's natural for a lot of players to relax after winning the first championship. It's also more difficult because of the pressure and everyone gunning for you night in and night out.
