Rookie Stephen Curry, who shot just shot just 32.5% in summer league, says he thinks he'll be named Rookie of the Year.

"I think I will be Rookie of the Year," he said. "I have that kind of confidence in myself. Iím not afraid to say it." We are intrigued by Curry, but the fact remains he'll have to win over coach Don Nelson. And there may not be a tougher thing for an NBA rookie to do. There are also rumblings that Monta Ellis is not happy about the arrival of Curry. The drama continues in GSW.

He was probably asked about his chances, so what do you want him to say?

"Nah, man I think that guy the Clippers got, he's got a real good shot at it."

I agree with him. I think he can win ROY.

Coming from a Raptor fan, derozan isn't going to get enough minutes to win ROY..and even if he did, he'd have to prove more than others like Griffin, Curry, Tyreke, Jennings, Flynn..and the list goes on.

I think it will be Griffin, dude's a beast.

The most he ever does in the nba is a solid six man

Brandon Jennings...his role should be huge with that Bucks team especially with sessions gone. Plus the kid can play.

the rookie of the year will be Brandon Jennings

Brandon Jennings will play a bigger role on his team then any other rookie. STARTING POINT GUARD. hell have alot of minutes right off the bat,, and will have many opportunities to score the basketball withthe departure of richard jefferson.

im really curious to see stephen curry in the nba tho. hes the biggest question mark for me. if his game can translate to pro ball, he can be a star. if it cant, he can be eddie house.

i havent seen ALOT of stephen curry.just some shooting highlights, but the only thing that kinda bugs me about him is that hedoesnt look very tough..and this is a mans league

Curry has a lot more endurance than early scouting reports gave him credit for. He'll definitely take some lumps in this league but he's primarily a 3-point specialist so he'll be able to rely on that against teams with tough interior defense.

Hands Down its Tyreke evans
The kings have no one that is going to stop him from playing all-star minutes and on top of that he is a mismatch with the ball in his hands for practically the whole game as point guard.

While I agree with the Jennings talk, Let's not forget Flynn who will probably start at guard in the West and doesn't have the joy of playing alongside an olympic guard in Michael Redd.

but I would still say, dont think you'll be ROY - PLAY like your going to be ROY

DEcent chance, but I think Griffin is gonna get it, and Curry closely followed.
Question: Why did he get drafted so low?

DEcent chance, but I think Griffin is gonna get it, and Curry closely followed.
Question: Why did he get drafted so low?

Because he can't run the point and is too small to be a SG. He also doesn't have the quickness to get around his lack of size. He's a good shooter and will fit well in Oakland but like someone mentioned, he's not much more than a good 6th man.

I like that he 's confident, and you can't deny that he'll be up there if he gets playing time, because the way Golden State runs their offense that he'll get the shot he needs.

MrFastBreak

Yeah he say he'll be ROY, but he needs to back it up or Brandon Jennings, Blake Griffin, Johnny Flynn, Tyreke Evans, or Jrue Holiday gonna snatch that trophy right out of his hands.

Arrogant skinny hoe!
Blake Griffin > Stephen Curry
Though I like Curry :D

Tyreke Evans is my pick. Guy is big and can take it to the hole on smaller guards... i guess he makes all guards look small. I don't know how good Curry is as a pg. Is that what he's gonna play? Cause they got Monte, Acie Law, Clax, and CJ Watson i think. I don't know how he is defensively just cause i haven't seen much of him at Davidson last year. Has to put on some weight though, or else he's gonna get bullied by strong pgs like paul, williams, rondo, rose, kidd, fisher etc.

Curry didn't really seem like the type to say something like this so I gotta say I'm surprised he would say this. But hey, the guy is confident.

I feel it will be one of the closest ROY races, and I do feel that Stephen curry will barely edge Blake Griffin for the award.

Definitely NOT Stephen Curry! Golden State is stacked with guards...also Don Nelson has a history with not playing rookies.

I say Tyreke Evans has all the playing time in the world. He has a great chance.

And Brandon Jennings apparently is the truth! Bucks let Sessions go and he is the STARTER on a team with some decent assets.

my picks are griffin and harden and maybe even hansbrough. they have the most nba ready games out of the guys coming in. im secretly hoping for harden. twill of course as well.;-)

09-26-2009, 08:22 PM
A lot of rookies have a decent shot at ROY. I think this will be a very solid draft class and if Curry gets a lot of minutes i think he can do it. I really like Curry(but thats mostly cuz he helped me win an a march madness pool 2 years ago)

Blah Blah Blah

he prolly will...no way i see griffin winning it...prolly between harden and curry.

Kings Faithful
09-26-2009, 11:27 PM
I think Griffin will turn out as a very good player. But as far as ROY goes I'm going to go with Evans, and not just because I'm a Kings fan. Evans has all the tools to get to the rim whenever he wants, scoring won't be a problem for him. Also with Kevin martin on the team I don't think he is going to have a hard time getting assists. If the Clippers actually make the playoffs or get close by some act of God then Griffin will take ROY without question, because the league seems to look at the performance of the team more than the performance of the individual player when it comes to these awards.

SA5195
09-26-2009, 11:29 PM
I don't see Griffin being it, cause he's injury prone, if something happens to him, then it'll miss up his chances, but I still say Griffin is on the top of the list.

Ace33Bone
09-28-2009, 11:08 AM
I am going with Harden, Griffin or Jennings as the ROY

i agree brandon jennings prolly has the best chance, and judging by the summer league i think he just might get it.
