Kobe Stoppers, some of them of the wannabe variety, are almost everywhere. Most are exposed on a nightly basis, but some like Dahntay Jones, left, won't just go away. Here is a slide show look at the best

Terrible list, Chris Andersen? Dahntay Jones? Raja Bell?? Two players that aren't even in the league any more?

Dahntay Jones was the easiest defender Kobe has ever had. I was laughing when I saw him playing defense on Kobe, he wasnt doing well at all. Sometimes I wonder how some players get these kinds of reps..

I dont think anyone is a Kobe stopper but a few guys do ok against him, Nicolus Batum and Battier did as good as anybody I saw last yr but that still isnt saying much, Bryant's too good and can scorch anybody in the NBA.

Blazer fan givin praise to a Laker, ugh (haha)

I think Rip Hamilton and Prince both have Kobe's number. He always struggles against Detroit.

Because they play Team defense, and Team defense is the Kobe stopper not one defender. Thats why he struggled against Boston in 2008 finals and thats why he struggled against Detroit in 2004

now that was a TRUE all-star game. guys actually playing defense, diving for loose balls, playing clean team basketball. i wish more all-star games were like that.

I've seen John Salmons D up Kobe decently well, he did a better job than Artest did.

They did well on him but that was definitely team defense.

Kobe's patented slouch following his occasional "aw crap" moments and the Russian player tripping the ref are a bonus. ;)

In all seriousness though.. teams don't need a Kobe stopper. Kobe's more a cog in a well oiled machine than an unstoppable individual force; if you stop the Pau/Bynum duo you can go a long way towards stopping the Laker's... but easier said than done.

There isn't as much a need for "Kobe stoppers" and there certainly are no "Kobe Rules".. at least in terms of how those phrases were originally applied to the GOAT.

Well Pierce is a better team defender than he is a one on one defender I think..

Thats how he helps stop Kobe, with his support and he takes away his post game when he gets hot, its why Kobe has consistently sucked against Boston.

Besides they put Chris Anderson on there

Exactly my point. Which is why I said team defense is what stops Kobe not individual defense

LOLS dahntay jones a kobe stopper? ahahhahaha

Only 3 maybe 4 people who could get in his face 1 on 1
Bruce Bowen
Shane Battier
Raja Bell
Artest back in the day (not really to worried about this now hey haha)

smith&wesson
09-16-2009, 08:20 PM
dontay jones ? lol why because he tripped kobe in the wcf's ?? thats a fail.

Raja Bell made the mistake of calling himself the kobe stopper while in a 7 games series and the very next game he got torched and kobe dropped like 41 on him. lol FAIL

bowen never claimed to be the kobe stopper, he was the best defender imo on the list but never did slow kobe down at all.

Im not a laker fan. PPL automatically asume that when someone defends kobe that were LA hombers. Well im not. the trueth is battier and ron artest would probably be the closest players to even put a dent in kobe's production and they didnt even get a mention there fore this whole article is a fail.

Dahntay Jones wasn't even the best player on the Nuggets to defend Kobe, let alone one of the better ones in the league. Both Anthony Carter and J.R. Smith did a better, more consistent man-to-man defensive job on Kobe over the regular and postseason. In the playoffs, Dahntay did very well guarding Chris Paul (with a lot of assistance from the bigs who jumped in on help defense), but beyond that, he didn't really make a very big defensive impact.

Battier was the best defender I've ever seen guard Kobe and he was still smited.

Bruce Bowen in his prime was a good defender on Kobe.

John Salmons , battier was good at putting his hands in Kobes face ... I think Tmac guarded him better then any1 besides Salmons ...

John Salmons has done well against Kobe in the past. He doesn't shut him down, but he does as good of a job as anyone, except maybe Shane Battier. When Salmons and Ron Artest were both on the Kings, Salmons did a WAY better job on Kobe than Artest ever did. Salmons may not have the reputation of being a great defender, but he is very good, and definitely underrated there.

He has a good jump shoot and great stability in the game. Nobody can stop him except himeself.
