View Full Version : Will Gilbert Arenas be in MVP talks this year?

Training all summer after missing 2 years on the court, he is looking very good, maybe better than before his knee blew up. Will he be back to his original form and even be considered in the MVP talks with DWade, LBJ and KB24? Or will he become the next Grant Hill?

Look what Steve Nash did for the Suns.

Maybe if the Wizards win 60+ games.

No chance, Gilbert won't even be in the D12 and CP3 talks or even the TimmyD and KG talks, let alone the KB24, LBJ and DWade talks. He may be in the Grant Hill talks sooner than we think imo.

No. I say he ends up like T-mac and be an overpaid, injury prone player.

Gilbert is going to come back strong, but he also has a lot more help than he did in years past. Nick Young, Randy Foye, and Mike Miller.

Arenas was clutch before i really liked his style of play! I hope he returns to all star form, after all he has been training for a good couple of years.

I honestly believe Gilbert Arenas will never return back to all star status.

All star? Yes
MVP? No

No because his scoring will be down and assists up. I see him more being a 18ppg 7 assist type player.

The better question is will Gilbert Arenas play all 82 games this season.

No, there are too many potential MVP winners that are better than him, like Kobe, Lebron, Wade, CP3. Even if he has a great season, I don't think the Wiz will win as much games as needed for him to be considered in MVP talks, though they are a play-off team, there are too many great players ahead of him.
I truly hope he'll have a good season though.

He has the talent to be but the award is usually given to the best player on the best team (Regular season record wise) I doubt the wiz will be in that category.

No, he has not played 20 + games in almost two years, it will take him time to get back to his all star form, or he could prove me wrong. Maybe the two years of rest should benefit him.

He won't be in MVP talks at first, but when the Wizards are quietly battling the Magic for tops in the Southeast everyone will realize Gil's back. D Wade won't be in the talks because the Heat are going to regress in a major way, the pressure and the talks of 2010 is gonna weigh down on Lebron and he'll fold again and Artest is the cancer that kills the Lakers this year, sorry Kobe...no MVP.

Gil looks really sharp right now and I think the whole league is gonna be surprised and I love to hear all these Gil haters because they are just adding fuel to his fire...keep up the good work guys

If kobe and Ron ron have as much drama as him and shaq did, then let them 3peat! I think GA will suprise everyone this year, play a full season and possibly make it to the second round and lose to the cavs.

No, you got it all wrong.

Bargnani is the worst defender in the league.

Never ever has been in the discussion in the past, don't see why all of a sudden he will be.

He's a 40% shooter. Never, EVER should a 40% shooter win the award. Not to mention he has never been on a great team. Despite the occasional clutch shot, I don't think he's a winner...at all.

If he finished in the top 10 I'll be surprised.

^^ A few years ago he was in the top 3 discussion pretty much all year long for MVP

I think Gilbert will surprise alot of people this year.

He played in the Goodman League a few weeks ago and scored 35 points and had 7 assists in his first game. Wasn't wearing a knee brace and was apparently driving to the lane quickly.

Him working out with Lebron James and Andre Iquodala will also help his game.

I guess you never watch the raptors play. Arenas is easily the worst defender in the league, he scores 25 a game but gives up 40 on the other end. He really fails to make any team better, he is purely a stat filler and simply mildly entertaining.

I'm guessing you don't watch the Wizards play, so lets not be a hypocrite. Arenas can't defend I think everybody knows that, but to say that he fails to make any team better is down right stupid. Teams literally have to gameplan around him, he can dominate games and take over at crunch time.....granted he's healthy.

def not. It's one thing to look good in the off season, it's another to look good and stay healthy throughout the reg season. To be honest, Gilbert would have had to have been playing the last two years to have made the necessary jump forward in his game to be on the level with LBJ or Kobe, and I just don't see that level of a player in him.

Areanas will be back & should be in the discussion. The different between him & the other guys people keep mentioning (T-mac & G Hill) is that his game wasn't build around his athletics ability. So as long as he is healthy he still is the "BEST" one on one player in the league.

I am a big Arenas supporter and i think he will come back very strong this year and the Wiz will win alot of games... but when its all said in done the Big 4 (LBJ, KObe, Wade, & Howard are on their own level)
