The ratings the last few yrs, even with have Lakers, C's, Lebron etc. in the finals have been ******

ABC sucks, plain and simple, Mike Breen's only catchphrases are "Bang!" and "Puts it up...Puts it in" (even for slam dunks, lol).

We desperately needs the theme song back, we need bob costas back, we need those color commentators swtching from time to time like a doug collins, mike fratello, hubie brown, isiah thomas (yes, back in the day, he was an awesome color commentator after his retirement), and heck, even the great Bill Walton. Heck, bring in Marv Albert back on the NBC crew as well, and throw in Kevin Harlan from TNT.

Perhaps also throw in a lil bit of the crew from INSIDE the NBA

Since ABC started, we had to put up with goons like Tom Tolbert, Dan Patrick (although his radio show isnt too bad), Mike Breen, Mike D'erico, JVG (don't hate him entirely), Mark Jackson (he does actually try to use out of the world catchphrases and isnt completely boring like Breen), and Al Michaels and Doc Rivers that one yr in 2004 :puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke:.

But there has to be change, no wonder NBA has decreased in its popularity. And no, it's not just because Jordan retired, its all promotional.

and NBA on ABC theme song sucks, so do the player intros for the Finals (they freakin overuse Requiem for a Dream, or wutever its called). The only good thing on ABC is after the PR announcer says something like "Game 4 starts Now!"....and then that great NBA Finals Intro comes (perhaps NBC can steal that away from ABC lol)

the worst thing about NBA on abc is their constant advertisements for their crappy shows. "hi i'm eva longaria of desperate housewives and you're watching the nba on abc" and crap like that. if you're gonna advertise your shows at least do so for your only good show, Lost. in any case i agree with this completely. NBA on NBC just focused on basketball. they had a great intros going into games, recapping the previous games with some great voice over work. the theme song is a classic, and their announcer, commentators, and half-time presentations weren't utter crap.

I agree, I don't know how much of the ratings will differ moving from abc to nbc, but the announcers for ABC are awful.

Right.. people tuned out of the Finals because they didn't like the announcers as much.

Differen't example, but same point... I can't stand Neil Funk but I'm not missing a Bull's game because Red Kerr no longer calls the game.

I don't think it makes much of a difference (in terms of tv ratings) which station broadcasts the Finals (abc, nbc, cbs). Make a mountain out of a molehill if you want... ur wish i gues

I'm getting pretty tired of ABC.

Nothing will ever stop me from watching basketball, unless I go blind or something.. knock on wood. BUT, we're just saying how much we miss NBA on NBC and how much it pumped us up and all. I mean, I still get pumped up to watch games, but the presentation that NBC provided was on another level.

a triple header would be a nice start. seriously its not like abc has anything better to offer. dont give those games to espn. i cant stand burke!

Rhino
09-07-2009, 11:38 PM
I gotta agree I seriously have to mute the station in order to watch the game. I mean would it kill the commentators to make an actual intelligent comment about the game being played.

the NBA on NBC music Roundball Rocking I think? Best. Sports. Theme. Ever.

EVER! ABC sucks :( Man I think I was only five or so but watching Reggie against the knicks and later on Jordan against the Jazz. Best basketball moments ever on TV.

What's worse is the movie advertising tie ins they do:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7KkGhBBk-BM

I can't remember what they did this year, but it was probably something stupid.

I don't even care so much about the NBC personalities, or theme song, it's just that the presentation on ABC/ESPN is just so so bad.

nbc was way better i totally agree!! but as long as the lakers keep pushing it to the finals the ratings will be fine the ratings are always way higher when the lake show makes it

Yeah I miss the nba on nbc. They need to bring the all-star game back there too. I miss that theme. I remeber they played it last year during the olympics
