Zach Randolph - Team Cancer or Stud?

He's both.

He is top 10 statistically as a PF and pretty good there when it comes to playing but his antics keep him from being good.

haha two very different sides of the spectrum, I have a hard time calling him a stud of a player though.

Can't wait to see him play for us! Should be a real interesting season for the Grizz.....catch some of these muthas looking past us.

He's one of the most gifted post scorers and effective rebounders the NBA has to offer.

But he's one of the biggest defensive liabilities at his position in basketball period, not just the NBA. Every team he's ever been on has also gotten worse following his addition. In some cases, that's coincidential. In some cases, it's not.

He can certainly score the ball, but hes a black hole on offense. His defense sucks as well.

^^^^^^Explain how you can score the ball AND be a black hole on offense??

Once the ball gets in his hands, he rarely gives it up again. Hence the black hole comparison. Black holes suck things up and they're never seen again. When Zach Randolph gets the ball, his teammates generally don't touch it the rest of that possession. He's a selfish, me-first player.

neither.

He is a stat filler.

Randolph would be a stud if he wasn't a cancer, he is one of the few players that can put up 20-10.

Stat Filler

He would be a Top 5 PF in the NBA imo if he played defense with the same drive he does when he rebounds and his putbacks.

He doesn't contribute to winning, he just gives you 20 points and 10 rebounds but doesn't impact the game at all.

i think if you put him in a contender he would definitely contribute

but he's not a franchise player for sure

but if you put him on a winning team there's no reason to doubt he won't be good

Team Cancer for sure and his effort defensively leaves something to be desired....

He's neither.

I will say people criticize him way too much.

It's not like he's the only person in the NBA who doesn't pass or play defense.

Knicks were on their way to the playoffs before they dealt him. Randolph was leading that team.
And why are you ripping the Knicks when this thread has nothing to do with him.

D'Antoni (only two N's)

I can't call him a stud and team cancer is harsh.

I'll just say he's been overrated for most of his career.

My thing is that people called him a cancer while on Portland when he was getting 24 and 10 on 48%. I don't see how that is a cancer.

I like Zach as a player its just that he has never been on a great team... even though i do not feel he is directly the cause of that... but he has never lived up to the potential that he once possessed... not quite a stud but I would love to have him on my Cavs... He'll do well in Memphis

bigsams50
08-27-2009, 10:22 AM
he is certainly not a stud

ctitus45
08-27-2009, 10:57 AM
he is a talent but his attitude and off the field bagage hurts his squads. sometimes players just don't have it upstairs. sometimes more players are about themselves then winning. he is one of those players.

ya_boi

Cancer to the fullest. Look at how Portland took off after they got rid of him.

mrblisterdundee

There's no doubt that he's a true 20 and 10 power forward, but it's pretty obvious that the guy is a cancer due to his heightened level of ignorance.

Well he's been in bad situations his entire career. Memphis certainly isn't going to help him. But I could see him joining the Spurs or some team like them to be a solid role player in the twilight of his career.

I don't see why he gets a lot of hate when someone like Bosh hardly ever gets criticized.

b_russ
08-27-2009, 02:41 PM
No way I can say both. He is a cancer that gives you points and rebounds. A stud should provide leadership and a do-anything-to-win mentality. Zach Randolph doesn't give you either one. He's excellent in some aspects of his game, but he's a failure in the rest.

problem is he hardly ever passes he ball and doe sn ot deffend.

if good power fowards like boshm, stoudamire, boozer, pau gasol had the same way of acting he has they would average 35 ppg.

Perenial 20 and 10 guy with all that movement, in all those systems with a respectable shooting %, gotta be a Stud.

He can help

blazerman
08-28-2009, 12:01 AM
That guy is a total ballhog and I dont think he knows how to pass. Man I remember getting so pissed at him when he was a Blazer because of his selfishness and lack of D.

The Blazers wouldnt take him back for free or even if you gave them a 1st rd pick. Randolph is a decent post player but he is cancer because he cuts the rest of the team off once he has the ball.

Hellcrooner
08-28-2009, 12:07 AM
Cant wait for Grizzlies to reunit iverson gay and mayo to him to see if the manage to b the firt team to average 0 assists pe game while having a starter and a sixth an Gasol and Tabeet score 0 points per game coming from assists adnot Offensive rebounds or personal plays.

Mark my words. The subtraction of Zach Randolph (and addition of Blake Griffin) will take the Clippers from 19 wins last season to 40+ next season.

roshan3ai
08-28-2009, 12:24 AM
He's a fat load who cannot even dunk the ball, and a terrible defender.

THE MTL
08-28-2009, 03:53 AM
I wouldnt call him a stud, but I wouldnt call him a cancer. He was the only player on the Knicks that actually tried that season. Him being on the team was not the reason we did so bad.

And also, you cannot say that he has ever played for a good team. He did not make the Clippers worst..Gosh I dont know if thats even possible to make the Clippers any worst lmao....Knicks were a bad team before him...and have been for some time.

Lets see what the Grizzlies do. They have so much talent on that roster (especially if they get AI), but then again we must remember its the Grizzlies.
