Let's say u could choose 2 players. The rest of the players suck but u can pick any 2 players in the nba.

Do u think right now, it could take just 2 great players on the team to win a title and if u do, what 2 players could do that while the rest of the team sucks.

No. You need some good role players along with those stars.

A good guard and a good C/PF does the job.

No-role players are important also. What if one of the stars went down?

cp3/d12 might work

Not possible. You need a 3rd all-star or good role players.

Kobe & Duncan Should Do it....

Great D & O....

Long story short.

It takes 5 players to win, along with guys off the bench to give rest and/or added boost to the team's chances to succeed.

Not to say that certain players increase the chances of winning.

I know I sound like a chineese proverb. Lol.

No, that would be for:

One, Illegal according to the rules of the NBA.

Two, They need sufficient role players.

Three, Why Duncan? If your so hip on defense and big men, why not take the reigning DPOY in Dwight Howard?

5-10 Years ago: KB24 and TD21 would win 5+ titles easy with all of the weak contenders back then
Present: CP3 and D12 would work for years to come, both are 23 and getting better and better
(Imagine if CP3 went to the Magic, since their stats don't overlap, they could lead rebounds (D12), assists (CP3), blocks (D12) and steals (CP3) together)

These players will eventually need some okay role players, but the duos would no doubt be unrivaled and impossible to guard, both tandems would be the best in sports history.

No, the elite teams are too deep. They all have two great players, perhaps a third great players, plus other good players.

A few years ago? Yes. Today? Nope. Takes an entire team. Good depth and role players.

Magic johnson once said that it takes two superstars to win a championship. Then again he was talking about the Bulls, who also had Kukoc, Harper, Rodman,

no.

iverson and melo should be a prove of that.

the most similar was kobe and prime shaq but their company werent scrubs fox, horry, fisher etc etc.

2 top 10 players thre very good starters and some veterans in the bench coudl do it tough.

Something along the lines of

Calderon, KOBE, battier, Odom,HOWARD with say Watson,D Stevenson,Bowen, Scola,Dampier on teh bech

the real question is can a team of 10 role players that are excellent each in one of the games parcell win a ring?
like in you got the best defensive center who isnt a star, the best turnover to assist ratio in anon star pog the best reboudning non star pf the best three point shoooting sg etc

kobe and shaq had nobodies in the last 2 titles they won not counting their 1st. i believe if shaq was still in his prime him and kobe could still be winning together. but for now

i say
lebron and dwight MIGHT be able to
kobe and duncan maybe.. but duncan is kinda old now
wade and dwight maybe

but no combo id put my money on. not like shaq and kobe

ummm? wat were they? all stars cuz im a laker fan and they werent great at all. horry was only good in clutch. fisher was pretty weak back then. fox??? lol how can u tell me rick fox was a good role player. he was an average player. all he had was pretty good d and an OK at best 3 point shot.
the lakers were ALL shaq and kobe. comon samaki walker was our STARTING pf in our 3peat. It was only in 2000 when they had a good role player pg evn tho he was old in ron harper who was 6'6 n caused mismatches n had good d with the last good year in glen rice. 2000 lakers were pretty deep when it came to good role players and a 3rd option

Kobe and Lebron

farmar/ shanon brown
kobe/ tony allen
lebron/ devean george
powe/ radmanovic
gortat or anyone who can rebound/ milicic

Kobe plus any other top 15 talent could win it all.
Kobe and Paul - best backcourt of all time.
Kobe and Howard - he's already done it with Shaq.
Kobe and Lebron - Unstoppable.
Kobe and Melo - Kobe makes Melo into a top 5 player and they win the title.
Kobe and Duncan - would win Classicly.
Kobe and Garnett - Too easy.
Kobe and Wade - Toughest backourt in the NBA.

Ask Elgin Baylor and Jerry West if you can win titles with two really good players! Jerry said it himself, "Its takes more to winning a championship than Elgin and myself scoring the most points in a game"

You can't win with 2 players now, look at all of the elite teams. Multiple All-Star caliber players, many good role players. Around the time before Detroit won, the Finals teams were weak and 2 players could've won it all.

_KB24_
08-24-2009, 06:15 PM
It depends on how bad the role players would be. I think a Kobe/Garnett or even a Wade/Garnett duo would be lethal.

They would definitely be amazing but I dont think they would be able to beat Boston, LA, or even the Spurs IMO.

I'd go CP and Dwight
PG- C are the hardest to get great players at, SG SF and PF are easy to fill

Not anymore! Remember that deep Spurs team that beat the lakers in 02-03. That was the last of 2 players to win a title(IMO)

What? It was not Kobe & Shaq against Detroit. It's only Kobe against Detroit. The rest of his teamm8s disappeared in 2004 Finals. Shaq is not playing well due to a contract dispute, Payton was a disgrace because he is not a Tri PG, Malone was playing w/ 1 leg. To sum it up, Detroit have faced a disorganized Lakers team.

Just because you aint seen 2 players win a ring in a couple years, doesnt mean it cant happen again.

No.

It is a rule that at least 8 players have to be active.

PG- Duhon [ Distributor ]
SG- Kobe [Star]
SF- Battier [ Defense/Open Three ]
PF- Duncan[Star]
C- Diop[ Rebounding/Defense ]

6th Antonio Daniels [Combo Guard/Yes...Iverson made him fall twice! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwFxHiuS6-M ]
7th Matt Bonner [ Shooter ]
8th Matt Barnes [ Defensive/Shooter ]

This is in my opinion could be a championship contending team with 2 stars and 6 solid role players getting minutes.
