This guy is injury prone, but when he plays he is electric, a canadian native player Harden has a Fastball that tops 98 mph and a sharp moving slider.

He might come with a decent contract at maybe 3 years 22.5 Million, I was just thinking if we should take a shot at this guy as a frontline guy for a improving rotation (If Halladay moves) and he could give us a power pitcher that we have lacked for so long.

He might be a great pickup if he stays healthy for a money saving team like the jays. I was wondering what everyone thinks

Here are some highlights of his great starts

11 Strikeouts- http://mlb.mlb.com/media/video.jsp?content_id=5847439
9 Strikeouts- http://mlb.mlb.com/media/video.jsp?content_id=5944225

I think Rich Harden can do better than your proposed offer. I don't think he'd take a Canadian discount either.

Definitely would command more than your offer but this is one guy I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole. Yes he's great when he plays but him playing a full season is pretty rare.

He is a guy who cant go out every five days, sometimes he might need a week off here and there. But when he is on, he is on. If he can ever put together a full healthy season it could be something big. ( I watch cubs games alot)

With his history of injuries he would be a high risk/high reward type of pick up ...

Apparantely he's injured at the moment. Something about tearing a tendon in his shoulder while shaving.

exactly, he won't be offering us a discount because he is Canadian. Where a player is born should not matter.

Have we not learned anything after signing injury-prone A.J. Burnett?

We have lots of young, and inexpensive starting pitchers that are already going on and off the DL, so why add another player that will do the same and is worth 10 million a year plus for 3/4 years??? It makes little sense.

This is the time to rebuild our team around the young talent we have, not bring in a bunch of overpaid players that sit on the DL. We need young players that have heart. I suggest we trade away Halladay and Overbay (Wells wont be traded, not with his contract) and re-sign Scutaro for no more than 6 million a year for no more than 3 years. If we get anyone, it should be Chone Figgins, we need team speed more than anything else. Odds are, Barajas will want a lot of money, so odds are he will be gone, bring up Arencibia.
