if any of you thought that hoopsworld could net get more dumb with their SFs article, then wait till u peak at this.

i agree with 1 and 2, and 3 is debatable, but apparently, brandon roy is not only not a top 5, but not even AN HONORABLE MENTION! :pity:

I disagree with Manu, there are a lot of better choices, like you said Roy, for the number 4 spot.

Michael Redd or Danny Granger
:P
I always have a feeling that Brandon Roy is too short to be a SG.

Manu shouldn't be on there. Maybe a honorable mention though.

He said he thought of Roy as more of a PG because he was pretty much the PG for the Balzers last year.

ya i agree..for some reason players who are around 6'5- 6'7 are considered short..i don't really understand why.

I wouldn't hesitate putting VC above Johnson... but overall I agree. I thought there are much better SG's though, maybe I am forgetting some.

You can't put Ray Allen at the number five spot. He is a Celtic and the country has a pissing contest with Boston.

not gonna say that VC is better (although i think that...but thats not the point:p) but i challenge you to give factual reasons (stats and what not) to prove that JJ is without a doubt better then VC....i dont think its a ridiculous statement to say either is better then the other...thats the point im trying to get at lol.

^ am i the only one that thinks wade is bettter than kobe? i kno i may sound like a homer but cmon wade beats kobe in every major statistical category ever, imo hes a better leader... and hes more all-around than kobe. I mean its one thing to take his mvp votes and snub him from the all-defensive first team but to call kobe an all-around better player i dont agree with that at all.

i'd put Iguadala in there just below Rip,i'm assuming this list is just stats, but if it isn't i'd move VC down a couple-few spaces because i just don't believe the guy is a winner. All flavor no substance.

1. Kobe Bryant
2. Dwayne Wade
3. Brandon Roy
4. Joe Johnson
5. Vince Carter

Except for the fifth spot, this list is so easy. Anybody who doesn't put Roy at third shouldn't be writing about basketball. Besides, how can you rank Manu yet when he's been injured for so long? Why we're at it, let's say that Yao is the best center, even though we won't even see him play for another year.

I'd rather have Manu than Vince Carter or Ray Allen.

Kobe
Wade
Roy
Joe Johnson
Manu
Jesus
Vince
Rip Hamilton
Ben Gordon
Kevin Martin

Is that in order? No way Gordon, Hamilton, or even Allen are better than Martin at this point.

1. Kobe
2. Wade
3. Roy
4. Johnson
5. Vince/Manu (healthy)
6. Iguodala
7. Martin
8. Allen
9. Hamilton
10. Gordon

Everyone who is scoffing at Manu has forgotten how good he is when he's healthy. And by good I mean 20-5-5 with much better defense than Vince Carter.

Close I'd put it more like this:

1. Kobe Bryant
2. Dwyan Wade
3. Brandon Roy
4. Vince Carter
5. Manu Ginobli

Honorable mentions: Joe Johnson, Ray Allen and Andre Igoudala

Reason being, Joe Johnson choked when it mattered most, in the playoffs. He played nothing like he did during the season and that is a deal-breaker for me. Just like my opinion on Mo-Will AKA Fog Raw, in the season he was great but his choke-show in the ECFs gets him out of the Top 10 PGs discussion. VC has always been solid, Ginobli is a great player when healthy, Ray Allen is one of the most clutch players in the league and great at moving without the ball and I'd take all three over Joe Johnson. AI2 gets put into the convo, he was pretty solid this season.

I don't think they left brandon roy off purposely because its VERY obvious he is a top 5 player in the NBA and only an idiot doesn't think so. I think they just left him off because they completely forgot about him lol, pretty pathetic.

1. Kobe
2. Wade
3. Roy
4. JJ
5.Carter/ Allen

I agree when he said that Vince Carter is more of a SF but Allen is just too clutch and too good of a shooter to be out of the top 5.

Ray Allen is #3.

DCSportsIsPain
08-22-2009, 04:37 PM
Ray Allen is #3.

Only if you're on drugs. Allen doesn't assist, doesn't rebound, and doesn't score enough points to justify that he does nothing else. Allen doesn't break the top 5 in any meaningful statistical category. His career shooting percentage isn't even all that good. Compare it with Reggie Miller's.

agree with all but Vince at #5, but there a quite a few that you could put there and there's no clear favorite, not to mention a lot of guys do the whole "SG/SF" thing, making at hard to pick out the "true" shooting guards.
I'd put Hedo in the running, though, and MAYBE a healthy Tmac.

I realized the list was bogus from the moment they listed Kobe at number 1. Even the case they made for him was stupid. Hes got the rings? Duh hes been in the league longer and played with Shaq in his prime. Hes the former MVP? Of course because he plays with Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom. I agree that Roy should be on the list ahead of Manu beacuse if Ginobili was that good then why doesnt he start. Maybe this year Beasley will start and everyone will stop sleeping on my man D Wade. Notice how it all depends on a player other than D Wade for him to be considered just because he plays on an unproven squad at the moment. Ridiculous.

He explained why Roy wasn't on the list.

"(Author's Note: Brandon Roy was originally left off this list because I was, for some reason, viewing him as a point guard. Were I doing this over, he'd absolutely be ranked #3, followed by Johnson and Ginobili, which would push Ray Allen to the top of the Honorable Mention category)."

I for one mostly agree with this list. I also believe Manu to be somewaht underrated. It's good to see him getting some recognition. I cant decide whether or not Vince should be there tho.
