Seems to have developed an ok swing for once being a pitcher...where do you think he is going?? will he be in AA next year or one more year at single A ball?? I think he is hitting better than anyone actually thought....Are the Jays hoping that he can become the next rick ankiel??

He's hitting better than Ahrens and Jackson in his first year :laugh2: I think he will start A next year and if he performs a little better be moved up to AA after a few months.

Yeah I noticed that too... If he finished with 100 hits or more and a .250-.275 Avg I think the Jays will try to move him up the latter. He needs to get on a steady plan to get some more muscle behind his swing..I just watched a few highlight clips from last week and the two HR's he hit last week barely cleared the wall..he has a great swing and with a little more muscle he could be a producer...

Thanks! I think those numbers are much better than what I expected in his first pro year as a position player. That walk-to-strikeout ratio is bad but stuff like that is fixable.

For being a first year position player he is doing great. Like I said with a little faster swing and a bit more muscle he could be a 10-15 Hr guy Next year. I was thinking that he was going to jump to AA next year, but I think that will all depend on how he does in winter ball this year and Spring Training. I am almost certain that he will play winter ball this year.

It will take a couple of years for him to fully get his swing back but I look froward to it... Russel Martin worked out with him and thought he was a better hitter than Martin himself

I hope he comes through and accomplishes what Rick Ankiel did and produces with the Jays in 3-4 years. He's doing better then what I expected and if he ends the year on a hot streak and does well in winter ball, he could be with the Fishercats next year.

I think they play somewhere between 90-140 games, I know it's less than 160...I'm sure someone here has an exact number though.

i think its martin being modest. also he just a 2 year deal so he could techincally sign somewhere else after next year?

If he becomes good, can't he just walk away from the Jays after next season or do we have some way of protecting him. I'm thinking contract extention, say ten years.

I dont think he will walk away. He likes our system very very much because we were willing to give him a shot at position change whereas most teams wont have the patience for it. I think we will give him another 2 year deal just to see where he stands in a few years. If he hits the gym and works with a trainer I can see him being a very productive hitter..might not have the power of Ankiel but Homeruns dont win games...solid hits do.
