Cool. We are 13th best.

Not to sure how trading the 5th pick for 2 role players makes the Wizard in the top 10 though.

It's not just that. We are getting back a healthy Arenas, and Haywood is back too. Both who missed most of last season. Plus Foye and Miller aren't slouches either. Foye never really lived up to his potential but is still a decent player, and Miller had a bad season last season but will do better in a Saunders system.

Are we 100% sure Arena's will be healthy?

And if he is, will he be back to 100%?

And if he is, will he be back to 100%?

I really hope so, because as a Wizards fan it's getting really horrible listening to him talking about coming back all the time, and then getting another surgery. But unlike previous times this time he's not rushing when coming back. Before he would always push himself to get back on the court faster but instead doing himself more harm.

Will he be back to 100%? Most likely no. Ask anyone that suffered a major injury that when you return it's never the same. While it may look like his 100% he's hurting. Plus we don't need to come back to 100%, if that means shooting all the time. I would rather have him share and distribute the ball like he did when he came back last year.

Nobody outside of Heat fans agree that 19 is way too low?

Meh.. if someone's going to create one of these lists they've gotta stick the heat somewhere. The pre-season assumption in this ranking is probably that the 76ers and Pistons are better overall teams that will get more wins from a team effort than the Heat will get from Wade. Maybe.. maybe not.

Boston is ranked too low, i'd say theyre easily number 2. Orlando is also better than the cavs. but thats just how i look at it, because im not sold on the shaq and lebron marriage.

IDB Josh M
08-18-2009, 12:44 AM
I really think it would have been better to take the final power rankings (including how teams did in the playoffs) and adjust from there. If you do that, you would put Orlando, Lakers, Cavs and Celtics in the top four, with the denver being somewhere int he top 10, just not the top five.

SKILLANUEVA
08-18-2009, 12:46 AM
Here are mine...

1. Cleveland Cavaliers- They had a good run last year, and didn't match up well with Orlando, but they have gotten a few more pieces that will yet again help them reach the top seed.

2. Orlando Magic- Orlando also added a few players that can help them, but they won't get far in the playoffs after losing Hedo, Courtney Lee, and Rafer Alston. The addition of Vince Carter helps them get a go-to scorer, but he was never a big winner.

3. Boston Celtics- Last year the Celtics left the playoffs early because Kevin Garnett got injured. If their core stays healthy they should be looking to be high in the east.

4. Atlanta Hawks- The Hawks are still pretty far away from the first three teams, but they had a pretty successful offseason, in which they resigned Marvin Williams, Mke Bibby, and Zaza Pachulia. They also made a good trade fro Jamal Crawford and drafted Jeff Teague.

5. Chicago Bulls- The Bulls had a offseason where they lost their top scorer, Ben Gordon. But the with Kirk Hinrich, Luol Deng, and John Salmons healthy and their young players still improving they should be pretty good.

6. Miami Heat- The Heat are basically the same team they were last year. They won't be getting anywhere far, but are still in the top 8 of the east because, well, they are better than the other teams

7. Toronto Raptors- The Raptors improved this summer with the signing of Hedo Turkoglu and I expect Andre Bargnani to improve some more. They drafted a very talented shooting guard from USC, Demar DeRozan. Their starting lineup looks very good, but their bench might be troubled.

8. Detroit Pistons- The Pistons had a productive offseason. They got Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva. But they are left with nobody at center. Chris Wilcox, Ben Wallace, and Kwame Brown don't have the qualities of a starting center. And the D in Detroit is now gone. The last remaining defenders are Tayshaun Prince, Richard Hamilton, and if Ben Wallace still has it, then him too. But Prince and Hamilton have both been mentioned in many trade rumors and could be gone by the trade deadline. The Pistons also have 3 guards, all of which can shoot, none of which can pass. Rodney Stuckey has a lot of potential, but last season didn't show that he was ready to be a leader.

Worried about "the psyche of Rajon Rondo" may be single dumbest analystical point I've ever read. That kid will be fine; media hacks worry about a guy's name being mentioned in a trade, not the 23 year-old PG who's already got a ring and is still developing. Bottom line, if he gets much better than he already is...look out. The Celtics are A LOT closer to the Lakers than this pinhead believes and Rondo will flat-out destroy Medicare-eligible Derek Fisher in a series, should it come to that. 3rd best team in the East after adding Rasheed, Marquis Daniels and re-signing Big Baby? No way.

LOL @ BOLD! You don't think he will be good next year?

I happen to not THINK Denver and Portland will be better than Dallas next season.

Dallas won 67 games 2 years ago with the same core of Dirk, Howard, Terry, and Dampier starting. Throw in Marion, Drew Gooden, defensive stopper Quinton Ross and 3 point threat Tim Thomas and you have a better bench and starting line up.

Last year Dallas played without Stackhouse the entire season. He made Dallas a lot more versatile and provided good scoring behind the big 3. Marion is an upgrade over Stack. Potentially, Dallas could win over 60 games next season.

Don't underestimate the Mavericks. They are only 1-2 pieces away winning a championship. With an upgrade at center and a slasher type of player they are well on their way.
