View Full Version : What are the chances a Dark Horse win the 2010 Championship?

Most NBA fans/analysts tend to believe that the 2010 championship will be won by Contenders such as the Lakers, Celtics, Cavs, Spurs, Magic, Nuggets, and the Blazers. Every other team has been all but written off at this point. What chances do you think other teams have? Barring injuries, do other teams have a shot at the championship? If so, what team and explain how they could possibly get by the contenders

Hornets could be that darkhorse.

The New Orleans Hornets are really the realistic choice here.

Nobody is picking the Blazers to win the Championship. Nuggets either really.

Mavericks.

Well apparently they have the Mavericks listed as contenders.

YES. I agree, with CP3 and David West, they cant be counted out. Not Okafor... jeez this team could very well return to 2008 form when they greabbed the two seed. Only 1 game behind LAKERS in the West... That line up was: CP3, Mo Pete, Peja, West, Chandler.
Now they have: CP3, Mo Pete/ Peja(Posey too)/ West/ Okafor

I can see them returning to 2008 form, if they stay healthy.

The chances of a dark horse winning the NBA championship this upcoming year is very slim.

0.00000001%. I didnt want to say 0 because anythings possible. But that 0.00000001% still looks like a BIG percent to me because I would be SHOCKED if the contenders above didnt win.

Their are only five contenders in my opinion. Those teams are the L.A Lakers, San Antonio Spurs, Boston Celtics, Orlando Magic, and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

So if I had to chose a dark house team it would have to be either the Denver Nuggets or the Portland Trail Blazers. They are the only teams that I can see upsetting any contender.

Other teams I can see going deep into the playoffs would be the Dallas Mavericks or the Atlanta Hawks. The New Orleans might as well regain their 2008 magic that got them the 2nd seed in a very tough Western Conference.

Other than that there are NO other teams that even have a shot at a title this upcoming season.

CP3 and the Hornets. They were ridiculously good in 07-08

I say the OKC Thunder will give people a scare this year.

thats not the question, its asking whcih non-contender has the best chance of upsetting and winning a title. thunder have to first get to the "close to the playoffs" area before we can start talkin about them

No team.

Teams that aren't 3rd seed or higher in the East ad 4/5 seed or higher in the West ll not win the title. They might go far but no chance they in.

Im Picking the Suns.. A Healthy Amare and most of the offense running thru him, Nash playing back in his MVP form, J. Rich giving a solid 19.5 and Grant Hill giving a solid 16 they could prob steal a few games in the playoffs.. And Make A run to the finals

why is what i said funny?

Probably because the 2004 Pistons played defense. That and they had a great leader in Billups and this team pretty much lacks that. Other than defense, grit, toughness, and leadership I guess they're pretty much the same team. Oh, I guess a real coach would help too.

Dark Horse Possibilities: Nuggets, Blazers, Hornets

0%. The NBA is not like the NFL or MLB where a team comes out of nowhere and wins it all. In the NBA the best players win the rings. So the championship will come from the contender list you mentioned...

The hornets if healthy could easily challenge these teams and should be considered a real contender. With Paul, West, and Okafor theyre already solid. But if wright can mature into the player he can be, and peja can stay healthy, then theyll be a huge threat! Also with them having a true point guard in collison backing up paul.
