Ya, last i heard, celtics were trying to make a sign-and-trade work with the pacers to get rid of both tony allen and scal. im not sure what happened with that, but marquis daniels will for sure be a celtic when 09-10 season begins.

and i don't think rashad mccants has officially (or unofficially for that matter) committed to signing with the denver nuggets.

I agree... most of those guys will retire or go overseas

2 reasons

1) most of the teams already have 13-14 players (maybe even 15), and will be looking to add only d-leaguer and summer league guys who will eventually get cut in the preseason

2) with the economy, many teams are wanting not to the max of 15 players, heck even 14. many teams want to reduce costs and paying extra to the last couple of roster spots (when they don't really need to, especially in the playofs, when rotations are cut down to 8 maybe 9 men)

i know the lakers wanna keep the roster at 13, mainly due to the fact that they are way into the luxury tax. they cut sun yue cuz he was useless, was more committed to playing for china than the lakers this summer (didnt play in summer league last yr due to olympics, or this yr either due to worlds), and was taking up a roster spot, or for that matter, costing the lakers like an extra 1.5-2 mil in luxury tax for being a bench warmer.

If they wanna play and they arent asking for too much, these guys will definently have a team next year.

Wally Szczerbiak
Nate Robinson
David Lee
Aaron Gray
Allen Iverson
Flip Murray
James Singleton
Raymond Felton
CJ Watson
Ramon Sessions
Desmond Mason
Ime Udoka
Kareem Rush
Rashad McCants
Pops Mensah-Bonsu

Other than that, I wouldnt say any of them are guaranteed NBA players next year.

ko8e24
08-15-2009, 08:24 PM
my guesses are wally sczerbiak to denver, cj watson will stay with the warriors, juan dixon will stay with the wizards cuz nobody else ever wanted him the last 4-5 yrs, brevin knight stays with the jazz, david lee goes to perhaps the mavs and nate stays with the knicks, AI shocks the world and announces his retirement, and pops mensah-bonsu signs with the clippers, takes the starting job away from #1 draft pick blake griffin, and wins league MVP

In my original post, I took off Dikembe Mutombo off the list because although he hasn't retired yet, he's already stated that he will (especially after that injury) before the new season starts. I forgot to add in bruce bowen (who was traded by spurs to bucks, and then waived), so now, he is on the list

About 30 of these guys won't be wearing a NBA uniform next year. The remaining free agents would even be signed to fill out rosters, veteran presence, or to play 10-15 minutes off the bench.

Some guys I think will be playing next season...

Flip Murray
Jamaal Tinsley
Allen Iverson
Jason Williams
David Lee
Nate Robinson
Raman Sessions
Rashad McCants
Raymond Felton
Bruce Bowen
Pops Mensah-Bonsu
Ime Udoka
Wally Szczerbiak
CJ Watson
Aaron Gray

This was off the top of my head....maybe even 1/3 of these players won't be playing for any franchise this upcoming season.

still a fan
08-15-2009, 09:29 PM
How many are going overseas LOL?

There will be only so many 10MIL offers for these guy's...they will go only if nobody wants them for the Bi-annual or league minimum....or for some just simply retire.

Being from NY It appears each and every day Lee and Nate will sign one yr deals to avoid taking a much lower Qualifying offer...They have been offered 7 and 5 vs 2.6 and 3MIL QO's...

Sessions appears to be Knick, sorry Buck fans, its too logical...
Felton has a nice QO at 5.5 MIL so that appears likely as well..

Let's review the facts of the case.

1. ko8e24 starts a thread entitled "Remaining 2009 NBA Free Agents - Where Will They End Up?"

2. ko8e24 posts that Juan Dixon, a 2009 free agent, will end up back with the Washington Wizards.

3. DCSportIsPain posts that Dixon will not, in fact, end up back with the Wizards, which answers the question being asked in the original post.

4. ko8e24 posts he doesn't really care about the answer to the thread question he posted and that he was being sarcastic.

How much brainpower does it take to figure out that if a person doesn't care about the answers, they shouldn't start a thread asking the question?

Or, perhaps it is only Juan Dixon who isn't cared about? Great. Remove him from the question. And any other player where the answer is unwanted.

i've always wanted the lakers to get him. he can back up ron-ron, cuz even tho i don't completely 'dislike' luke, he is not that dependable on a consistent basis. it okay to have luke on the team and do what he does in 18 or so minutes a game, but i rather have an athletic forward coming off the bench (now that we lost the athleticism of ariza; ron ron is really damn good but not the most quick athletic guy).

u think he'd sign for just 1 yr with the lakers, for the vet's min, to get a ring, and then next summer, he can sign with whomever he wishes for wutever $$$ ????

ya clips dont need ricky davis, and sebastian telfair, although he young and good, has had too many behavioral problems on and off the court. so i think having sessions back up b. diddy would be fantastic for the clippers. If this deal goes down, it'll be great. As a Laker fan, and just a general b-ball fan, I am genuinely and deeply happy for the direction that the Clippers organization is heading towards. I expect good things from your team like an exciting season, upset some elite teams, and make it as the 7th or 8th seed in the west, minimum, so we can have a staples showdown with yall in the 1st rd. should be fun!

I think that just as how Kobe and the Lakers organization boosted Ariza's game a lot, it is also possible for them to develop Gerald Green. With Kobe's teaching skills Gerald Green would thrive. And to add the greatness of Phil Jackson along with his mind games, Green would be a beast. hypothetically speaking of course.
