Timmy Duncan...the last guy who is a great defender AND an top offensive force. He's still got it. I expect a huge playoffs from him.

Since we are doing best player today, I went with Mello. I think he is better than Duncan or anyone on that list as of right now.

its gotta be tim duncan. i thought he was better than howard. howard has no offensive moves besides the dunk, as seen in the finals. duncans an all around great player and very consistent, u kno wut ur gonna get from him nite in and nite out.

Tim Duncan. He's an all-around more complete basketball player than at least three of the players who were voted ahead of him. And he has the titles and the MVP's and the consistent numbers for 12 seasons to prove it.

I think he can win an MVP...but Kevin urant doesn't know what defense mean. There is no D in his vocabulary, and until there is, he isn't a top 5 player...let alone better than Tim freakin Duncan.

^^^ Durant is being overrated. He wont take OKC to playoffs...they are overrated as well by tons of people on PSD. Durant and OKC are the new fad...its pretty sad. They had many stretches last year where the looked and they were the WORST team in the NBA. Im getting sick of it lol.

yea, Tim is the pick here. He better than D12 but oh well... this will do

I agree with most of what you said here. Durant is similar to Kevin Martin. Thing is you dont see Kev Martin on that list.

That is a terrible comparison. All that Kevin Martin is is a scorer. Nothing else.

First off, Kevin Durant is considerably taller and a lot more athletic. He is a great rebounder, one of, if not the best rebounding SF in the game. He is a much more efficient scorer, shooting a much better percentage from the field. He gets more steals, and a lot more blocks.

Kevin Martin is a one dimensional scorer IMO. Durant can shoot the three, post you up, hit the mid range shot, attack the hoop much better than Martin.

Terrible comparison. Terrible.

I think it's going to get tough here on out after TD is voted 6, but I personally think D Will, and Dirk should go after.

Well is that so....

Lets see what the stats have to say about my terrible, terrible, blasphemous comparison.

Kevin Martin:

PPG - 24.6
RPG - 3.6
APG - 2.7
SPG - 1.2
BPG - 0.2
FG% - 0.420
FT% - 0.867
3P% - 0.415
MPG - 38.2

Kevin Durant:

PPG - 25.3
RPG - 6.4
APG - 2.8
SPG - 1.3
BPG - 0.7
FG% - 0.476
FT% - 0.863
3P% - 0.422
MPG - 39.0

The only real difference there was in RPG which is understandable since Durant does have a considerable height advantage.

Also "best rebounding SF in the game"? Are you that blinded by how overrated he is to forget players like Gerald Wallace, Marion, and most importantly LBJ? Please...

I said one of the best...Obviously Wallace and LBJ are better...Marion I consider a PF.

Stats don't tell you how someone plays the game. Durant is far more versatile on offense. He can post guys up (Martin can't)...he shoots the three just as well. He is more athletic. He can get to the hoop easier.

Kevin Martin is JUST A SCORER. Durant has a more complete game.

Martin and Durant are like comparing Dwight Howard to Chris Paul. 2 completely different positions and 2 completely different mentalities. Durant can lock down at times at least, finish on the breaks, vocal leader, and not afraid to let his teammates take the shots. Martin is really good, but Durant is better. Come on now...

Man, Dirk gets no love. The question is who is the better player NOW, and now with Duncan slowing down Dirk is the better player. Im ok with other people having a different opinion but to have Duncan winning by such a large margin is ridiculous. I mean Dirk was only named first team all nba over Duncan, but yeah Duncan is hands down better

Duncan beating Dirk doesnt bother me NEARLY as much as the fact both Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Durant have more votes. Pathetic.

I definitely think it should be a lot closer between those two than it is...but I think a lot of people value defense a ton now...which is why Duncan is leading. I think Duncan is still better...despite the first team vote...but I don't think it is hands down, like this poll suggests. I do agree that Dirk has to be ahead of Melo and Durant.

Yes Durant is somewhat better and both are completely different in terms of playing styles, but can you really argue that their stats are not similar aside from rebounding? This is actually a pretty pointless argument because my point was misconstrued but regardless; For a second there ya'll made it sound like I was comparing Dwight Howard to Rasho Nesterovic.

See though, thats the common misperception. That Dirk is a bad defensive player lets automatically put him on a lower level. The truth is Dirk is at least a solid defensive player, and at times is a very good defensive player. He doesnt block alot of shots, and he is white, so he is always gonna be labeled as a soft player by some, but obviously NBA coaches and writers know that Dirk is a solid to good defender, otherwise they wouldn't vote him over Tim Duncan.

Duncan is slowing down, he isnt the player he use to be. Still a really good player, but Dirk is in his prime now and right now Dirk is the better player.

Its between Dirk and Duncan. I picked Duncan though, more leadership and is always consistent. But its hilarious that PSD posters are falling for the hype of KD. He is a tremendous talent in this league and thats it. Doesn't deserve to be in the Top 10 yet. He doesn't have the intangibles that the other elites have.

And Nothing to do with this poll but if Steve Nash is voted ahead of Deron Williams or even in the top 10 its unbelievable. Same thing goes for Chauncey if he goes ahead of D-Will

I think it's KG. I mean 3 years ago he was considered the best in basketball. He hasn't regressed to out of top 6 yet. You look at Dwight's and KG's stats. They're pretty similar. KG is number 6.

Dirk isn't a bad defender, but he isn't even close to as good as Duncan. And Duncan's low post offense, and even his midrange game is still elite. It's really close between the two IMO...but Duncan's defensive advantage is the tie-breaker. I wont knock Dirk's defensive skills...but vs. TD, I can.

He is slowing down a little, but Timmy still has it.
