Aside from scrubs, there seems to me that there are four categories that players fall into. Bench sparks, stars, all-stars, and superstars.

Bench sparks are pretty self-explanatory, fairly above average players that come off the bench and produce.

Stars are very above average players, but ones that will never make it to an all-star game.

All-stars are studs, but won't ever make it to the HOF.

Superstars are truly great players that will make the HOF.

So, with that said, who do you guys think are the best, or one of the best, at each category?

Example:

Bench Spark: JR Smith
Star: Jamal Crawford
All-Star: Caron Butler
Superstar: Kobe Bryant

give me a break. Rasheed Wallace is much better than Bench Spark level. He has been to all-star games before.

from the given criteria, he would have to be all-star level. since star level players will "never make it to an all-star game"

At this point in his career, Wallace is better as a Bench Spark.

^^^agreed. however, the first posts clearly states, "never make it to an all-star game." So since he has been to two all-star games, he is eliminated from that category. It's pretty cut and dry.

The category is for players that can and will make it to All-Star games, but aren't dominant enough to make it to the HOF. Someone like Chris Bosh for example.

i dont agree with this way to rate players because some all stars will also make it to the hof like for example adrian dantly has and specially since the hall of fame is not nbas but baskets so fiba counts and role players like sabonis will make the hof out of fiba acomplishments,

to put you an example, gasol is an all star and not a superstar but will make the hof.

in my opinion the rankings shoudl be.

Superstar : as in " can lead a team to a ring", kobe, shaq, duncan etc.

Star : as in , can be the second option to a star and win rings or lead a bad team into playoffs and a god team into finals, as in Iverson, Lebrn, Dirk, KG, Pau,Parker etc

Allstar: can get there do this do that shine more or less individualy etc like, Ray Allen, Ginobili, Melo, Sotudamire etc etc

Starter: you name it a player that is better than a role player but not an alstar: Like Battier or Odom.

Role Player, as in good sixth men or not so solid starters but that can really get their job done and done good, like Fisher, Perkins etc etc

Legit Bench Player, that can contribute from the bench any time of the week and has a long career doing so like A Daniels, Eddie Hpuse etc

and , no im not taking HOF in consideration for rankings beause you can be a role player and enter the hall AKA a KC jones fore example, or be an international role player and make it like Sabonis and divac surely will, or enter as a mere star like Pau will or Parker will.

KG should be in superstar category without him BOS never would have won the Finals. He wasn't labeled the Big Ticket for no reason.

No he wasn't Pierce could never carry a team by himself if you would have taken KG out of that championship team and left him with a struggling Ray Allen they would have been lucky just to get by the Cavs IMO.

yeah ad no pippen no ring for jordan , no pau no ring for kobe and no shaq no ring for wade but still SECOND OPTION.

Pierce was the leader, only difference as oposed to the other cases is the distance between them is not as much i guess they are just two stars clicking togheter instead of a suerstar and star combo
