Are you kidding? KG isn't the best offensive big in the NBA but he should be at least on the poll. I have never heard of punishing a guy because he plays defense.

Troy Murphy, not being a homer, but he shoots the 3 ball better than almost everyone in the league, like 45% or something like that. If it wasn't for his offensive game he would not be in the league. I remember watching a game this past season and he hit like 6 threes in a 3 or 4 minute span, plus he is a good free throw shooter for a big man. On the list you have I would say it would have to be Dirk.

OKAY fellas..... Its between Dirk and Yao Ming.... Yao has a GREAT mid rang shot. He is great in the low post, amazing free throw shooter who gets to the line a bunch and he commands the double team...which is a HUUUUGE offensive asset. Dirk doesnt nec command one.

JJ81
07-30-2009, 09:18 PM
Pau Gasol. Absolutely no question imo.

heyman321
07-30-2009, 09:21 PM
All Dwight Howard does is camp in the paint, and not get called for 5000 in the key, and then dunk it.

Dirk by far.

ManRam
07-30-2009, 09:31 PM
Dirk, Yao or Timmay. Pau is an honorable mention. Amare is deff top ten. Dwight is not top 10.

And shooting threes is the worse way to argue that someone is a good offensive big man. I want my big man to do damage in the paint, and be able to take his man off the dribble. Dirk, Yao and Tim can all do that, plus can hit the 7-15 foot shot as well. Deadly combination.

SpursRedemption
07-30-2009, 09:42 PM
Tim Duncan!? This isnt even close!! So what if he cant shoot a 3 but he can shoot an open 18 footer easily! Big Fundamental Baby!

Catfish1314
07-30-2009, 09:44 PM
Dirk can score from anywhere and more importantly get his shot off from anywhere. I would say Dirk.

If you're talking about inside only, that comes down to a healthy Yao and Tim Duncan.

rsweene
07-30-2009, 09:44 PM
Offensively, how good you are is how stoppable you are and how much offensive game you got. Dirk has a great game, but he shoots a low % and he takes himself out of games, like lamar odom.

If you can find a player who can shut down tim duncan then youd be the first. Dwight gets "fouled" just about everytime gets the ball, or that runnign baby hook? He takes 5 steps, no call and makes it more than not, or hell jsut get the rebound and dunk over you.

Id say Tim Duncan. He has hit bigger 3s than dirk ever has! ('08 first round vs. pheonix...)

It's Amare Stoudemire for me. When healthy he is unstoppable. Didn't he set the record for most points scored through 7 games in a playoff series???

he has a deadly midrange game, is superathletic, and handles the ball like the wing.

If Okur is in there Bargnani should be without a doubt! I would say Duncan.

that thinking is sick in head.... OKUR is head and shoulders better than Bargs...if you dont believe me check his stats, efficiency and PER. Some of you homer fans are unbelievable.

ANd I do strongly disagree with all the people saying Dirk "easily". Timmy and YAO would have something to say about that. Yao has serious range, and again, COMMANDS the double team. WHich counts as an offensive asset to your game. Dirk doesnt get double teamed in general.

Spurred1
07-30-2009, 10:23 PM
^Dirk gets double teamed quite a bit-teams generally could double on him and dare Howard or Terry to go off. Chances are, they probably won't. Howard will either be injured as usual and Terry is either ice cold or incredibly hot.

BlondeBomber41
07-30-2009, 10:25 PM
Yeah I'm a Dallas fan, but this isn't a homer thing. Its gotta be Dirk Nowitzki. Very few guards can do what he can do with the ball and scoring wise, much less big men.

BlondeBomber41
07-30-2009, 10:27 PM
Dirk doesnt get double teamed in general.

HA! Dirk gets a ton of double teams. Teams love to run a second defender at him the second he starts to make any kind of move. It use to be extremely effective, like in the Golden State series, but now he has learned to deal with it alot better.

blacknell
07-30-2009, 10:39 PM

tland22
07-30-2009, 11:12 PM
I dont know what you guys are talking about? People arent saying: "we have to double team Dirk or he is going to kill us" in the scouting report. That doesnt happen. Im sorry guys. I think Dirk is the best offensive big man in NBA too, but it is by a tiny tiny thread over YAO. Then Timmy.

Part of Gasol's game is defense-while he is not stellar at it, it is better than Jefferson's. So I don't know if that is how the Lakers would fare with him if those guys were switched.
But I digress, since this thread is focused on offensive players only. Just wanted to point that little bit out.

Try not to be a homer, and remember the best OFFENSIVE Big Man.

Really need to learn how to make a decent poll......where is KG, Amare, Zach Randolph, Boozer, Elton Brand.

And dont say KG is a defensive player...the guy averages 20+ for his career. His offense is top notch.

And I have no clue HOW you forgot Amare.

And Zach Randolph is UP THERE with offensive big men.

All these ppl you missed are 20+ scorers.

JPHX
07-31-2009, 02:53 AM
its between dirk and amare. Amare doesnt have the longer range, but dirk doesnt have the explosiveness to get around defenders. However, dirk is pretty crafty. Amare is the better finisher. idk its really between those two when you talk about the most complete offensive player.

07-31-2009, 02:53 AM

Since PPG is the only determining factor in how good of an offensive player you are...riiiiight.

Dirk was a clear #1 option, Pau a clear #2 option, on a much deeper team. They are different types of offensive players. Pau is a phenomenal post scorer, Dirk is a phenomenal shooter, and perimeter player. Both are top 5, along with Duncan, Yao and Amare/Al. Surprised Yao isn't doing a lot better in this poll. When healthy, he is an offensive force.

Garnett is so overrated offensively. He wasn't even the best post scorer on his own team...that title belonged to Paul Pierce...but now belongs to Sheed.

Garnetts offensive game is mostly perimeter oriented...he doesn't have the post skills of a Duncan or a Gasol...or even Dirk for that matter.

Garnett may be perimeter oriented technically, but anyone who knocked out Larry Bird for most consecutive seasons of 20-10-15 deserves to be on this list man. Seriously. Career 20/11/4. Led the entire NBA in total points and rebounds in 2004. Duncan and Gasol don't have KG's range, at all, and Dirk doesn't have KG's post moves. KG's fadeaway from the baseline was the most unblockable shot in the NBA for a while.
