CLEVELAND, Ohio -- According to multiple sources, the NBA has pieced together its initial schedule for the 2009-10 season and it will feature the Cavs on both opening night and Christmas Day.
As of now, the Cavs are penciled in to host the Boston Celtics at The Q on Tuesday, Oct. 27, which is expected to be the first night of the season. Usually those games are on TNT.

In addition, the Cavs are believed to be set to play the Los Angeles Lakers in the afternoon on Christmas Day in a game that will probably be the centerpiece of the traditional ABC broadcast.

These dates are tentative. The official NBA schedule is expected to be announced in early August.

The NBA is still trying to bank on Kobe v. Shaq and Kobe v. Lebron? Damn...I was hoping for Lakers v. Celtics and Cavs v. Magic for the other Christmas Day game. Sure, there is one compelling matchup, but the rest will not be. Lakers v. Celtics has the history/classic/revenge factor and the Cavs v. Magic game has the revenge/proving worthy factor.

Lakers vs Cavs will be fun. Shaq and Kobe and Lebron and Kobe. Doesn't get much better.

Durant is hype

I feel you on this one. But they are going to put those kobe in lebron commercials to use if it kills them haha.

This will continue until they find a better match up, not to mention the shaq factor.

I don't think it will be able to top last years Christmas game Suns vs Spurs

With Roger Mason's buzzer beater shot, but should still be a great game

For the first time ever I'm actually looking forward to the start of the NBA season more than I am the NFL season.

The LeShaq vs. KoPau was too obvious, though. I, too, was hoping for a more heated game on Christmas.

Personally i would have liked to see the LAL/BOS rivalry refuel on Xmas again

There are multiple games on Christmas Day and both Kobe and Lebron participate usually. I know Kobe has played on Christmas Day for many straight years.

NBA is still pushing Lebron on everyone. LA/BOS would have been nice to see too or even LA/ORL but I hope LA shows CLE whats up like they did 2 times last year

Not bad. I think they should have the matchup that was the most competitive from the previous playoffs.

i agree that we should be seeing some of the top teams on christmas but opening day we shouldnt see top teams vs top teams....i would rather have the teams a bit further into the season where they have gotten into a groove with each other and then start having them face each other

If he wasn't making threads all the time, this forum would be much worse. Some poster might start making threads like this..
