OK we all hear about how LO is considering on going to Miami. Say he where to sign with the Heat:mad: who will the Lakers sign to take his place. If you ask me i think that David Lee wiil be a good fit inside the Lakers. He will be willing to take the money and play for a championship team.:)

Who do you think the Lakers should sign to replace LO if he were to leave?

I think that L.A has to just get LO signed

You realize all you guys have left is the vet min. right? David Lee will not sign for that money. Nobody but vets looking for their last shot at a ring will hence the name vet minimum.

I'm guessing he'll go to Miami and D Wade will stay next year. I think Miami is gonna have another championship caliber team in a few years. The Southeast division is gonna be tough.

If LO doesn't sign, we sign a proven rebounder/scorer to the bench for cheap as a one year stopgap and wait until the 2010 sweepstakes. After all, our starting 5 is still pretty formidable.

All you guys could possibly get is Joe Smith at vet minimum.

Why do people think players will always take pay cuts to win. Maybe an older player who truly loves the game who really wants a ring but no chance a young guy does

longer he's a free agent the more I think he's going back to LA

If Odom doesn't sign (which I think he will and is just playing poker with Buss) then LA is screwed because all they have to offer is the vets min, they could try to do a s&t but who would NY take in Lee's place? Btw David Lee is emerging to be a young 20 and 10 guy, why would he want to play backup in LA? he's not desperate for a championship, he wants some individual glory first. But like I said I see Odom resigning, otherwise prepare to possibly hand over the WC title to San Antonio, because the Spurs are looking good.

Why do people think players will always take pay cuts to win.

Because we've all seen it happen enough times.

As a working class guy, I agree that no one should sign for less than worth and certainly no less than what it takes to keep your family now and in the future at a comfortable level. Odom and other FA's first contracts were already for more money than I'll see in 50 lifetimes. Taking a "pay cut" still puts a Bentley in the driveway and a mansion in several states.

After that, the only thing left to concern yourself with is work environment. I'm sure you'd want to work where winning is standard. Trust me, you don't want to work some place where losing is a daily occurence and coaches and GM's are getting fired every other season.

That would be fine with me for the 2009-2010 season. Like I said, the Lakers don't have to win the title every year in order for me to be a happy Laker fan. I know if we don't get a title this upcoming season, we'll re-arm in 2010. Or doesn't it occur to anyone that there is a reason why Dr. Buss hasn't backed up the Brink's truck and signed LO to some crazy deal just yet? He's looking to the future, not just the present.
