They put up better stats...certainly not overall better players.
Despite the Kobe over Bron or Bron over Kobe, not many people place Wade over Bron. Kobe won it all with a good team. Lebron went far with a terrible team. Wade went one round with a terrible team. (This season) Unless you want to classify Wade's team as a higher level of awful. Though Bron's 06-07 cast was certainly on par for terribleness.

Yeah man your list is totally jacked up....Shaq and AI past their day. Yao may never play again, TMac is injury prone and will never play himself in to the top 10 players. And on top of that you put Dwight Howard 6th which is crazy...he's clearly should be in the top 5.

I completely disagree with that, Kobe is the most complete player in the NBA. He is a lockdown defender, can take over a game in the clutch, can post up, has the best footwork in the game, can take you inside or outside, he has no weaknesses. No other player in the game can say that.

A few things wrong with your top 10 right now.

1.) While head-to-head against Chris Paul, Derron is superior, Chris Paul is a slight notch above him.
2.) You have Chauncey Billups on there.
3.) You put "KG" instead of Dirk Nowitzki.
4.) Brandon Roy is easy top 5 SGs, but isn't close to being top 10.

I'm not trying to sound like a jerk, I just think your top 10 is laughable.

i used to be a huge fan or dirk nowitzki but he is never gonna win a championship if he is the star of the team

Um, Tim Duncan is the best player on the Spurs and he has won numerous titles. Granted he plays D and Duncan is probably the greatest PF of all time, Dirk at this point and time is noticeably better than Duncan. Why doesn't Dirk get a starting F spot in the All Star games? Because the All Star games is really a popularity contest and because people vote on past merits rather than current play.

Dirk is easily number one PF in the NBA. He proved it last year as well. He is HANDS DOWN a top 10 pick.

The post said "Today", not 10 years ago. Duncan can arguably deserve a spot "today", but Shaq and Iverson? Really? Maybe you found a flux capacitor and went back in time to watch Shaq and Iverson play. By the way, Y2K was a joke, the world won't end....

They have won 9 of the last 11 championships. These are the only players that I would consider for the top 3.

KG has been consistently good and efficient throughout his career and has won a title, so I would put him fourth.

Chauncey Billups has also managed to make any team he's been on relevent and has won a title so he gets #5.

Wade won a championship with Shaq, and proved he's a winner in the Finals. #6 for me. Will most likely move up on the list if he gets Boozer/Odom to help him out on the Heat.

Lebron would probably get #7 just because of his overall dominance and the footprint he's going to leave in the league through all the hype and statistical accomplishments. He's 24 and has already won league MVP. He has so far shown, in the NBA Finals and last years' ECF, that he might not be ready to win. A little immature: some writers pointed out that Champions don't typically have pregame rituals as childish as the Cavs'. A little unsportsmanlike: walking off the court without congratulating the Magic, taking away tapes of the Jordan Crawford dunk.

#8 would be Dirk. He has lead his team to some of the best winning records the league has seen, and made it to the Finals. His team is constantly relevant.

#9 would be Nash, two-time MVP with much of the same accomplishments as Dirk, but without the Finals appearance.

#10 would be Jason Kidd. One of the leaders on Team USA, never letting the US down. Lead some good playoff teams, and has remained pretty relevant through his career.

I don't see greatness as being one of the league's top statistical players. I see greatness as having both the skills to be one of the best statistical players in the league, and the leadership to tranlate that into winning.

1. Kobe Bryant: << Most complete player.
2. LeBron James: << Most dynamic player.
3. Dirk Nowitzki: << Let's face it. When he's hot, all you can do is hope he misses.
4. Dwayne Wade: << He's like a less-rounded Kobe.
5. Dwight Howard: << The only thing that stops him from being higher: Offensive skills.
6. Tim Duncan: << Not the same 5 years ago, but let's face it. He's Tim Duncan.
7. Kevin Garnett: << He is arguably the reason the Celtics won the 2008 NBA Championship.
8. Chris Paul III: << Alot of potential even at this stage. Too bad he plays on the hornets...
9. Chauncey Billups: << When he left the Pistons and came to the Nuggets, the Pistons went downhill, and the Nuggest became the #2 seed in the West. Enough said.
10. Paul Pierce: << Maybe one of the most underrated players in the NBA. A true warrior.

This is in the best order I can put. (Keeping in mind it is nearly impossible to compare a PG and a C to eachother.)

Honroable Mentions: (Less thought about, but the next 10 in-line possibly)

Brandon Roy

In terms of greatness, there are only three players that have earned the title as one of the "greats".

Kobe
Duncan
Shaq

Only post worth a damn in this thread. Greatness implies winning at the ultimate level consistantly. Only Shaq, Duncan, and Kobe have done this, maybe you could include KG and Billups, and Wade at least started to by winning 1 ring in dominant fashion. Lebron has not done jack in his career yet at anything approaching greatness. Sure he may be the best individually talented player but come on. He is not great yet.

Whoa, whoa, whoa hold up man!

Once again I'm from just outside Toronto and a hardcore Raps fan, but Bosh better than KG, Melo and Billups! That's crazy talk. I mean craaaaaazy!

Bosh is a great, great player but there is no way that he is better than Garnett. KG is still one of the best, easily in my top 10 players in the L. He gives you all aspects of the game (maybe a little too much showboating/taunting, but he is just super intense on the floor - something Bosh needs to learn, he needs that killer instinct).

Billups is a top 3 PG in the league no doubt and is if not the best, one of the best leaders in the game. He turned that Denver team around and made them a contender.

Melo would be over Bosh on many peoples list.

Once again, I love Chris! He is one of my favourite players to watch and a hometown fav of mine playing in Toronto. He is a perenial all-star but I really really don't think he is better than Garnett or Billups. These players have much more of an impact.

On that note here's my top 10 greatest players in the L TODAY!

Kobe
LeBron
Wade
Paul
Garnett
Nowitzki
Billups
Duncan
Howard
Pierce

No Bosh, Stoudemire, Carmelo, Parker, Roy or Williams (he would be 10 over Pierce if I had to choose but PDouble is still one of the best all-around players in the L - he really should be up there regardless of who else he has on his team)

if i had 1 chance to win it all and had to pick one player to lead a team of scrubs ie no gasol, odoms, manus... this would be my list of top 10 in this order.

1. D Wade
2. KG
3. L James
4. C Paul
5. K Bryant
6. Tim D
7. Nash
8. Billups
9. Dirk
10. D williams

this list is not who i think are the most dominant but those who give the greatest chance of winning with the least to work with. A player with great skills yet finds a way to compliment and make those around him better. my def of a great player.

hahaha your list is a joke kobe is either 1 or 2 beyond tat is just plain stupid to say omg kobe hating at it's best

Wow. No respect for Duncan on some of your lists. You either forgot about him or don't consider him great any more.

Duncan is the greatest player in the league...not the best overall, but the greatest...simply because of his consistency and being a great role model and winning with class and dignity for the past decade. People always scrutinize him for being boring and not fitting that hip-hop hoops profile...but we should be praising athletes like him everyday. He will never be as universally appreciated as the LeBrons, Kobes, KGs and Shaqs until de day he retires.

His top 10 is very Laughable. No for your reasons but because he has D Wade number 8.
